2021-22 NBA Thread: Bill Simmons furiously recording 2.5 hour long pod about how Boston is still better than Golden State (3 Viewers)

You'll enjoy him, mostly, but he's going to drive you crazy in spurts.  He isn't the most consistent guy in the world and I play better defense than he does, but he'll have moments of pure greatness where he can't miss......

......until the next quarter starts.

Still reeling from the fact that Portland got literally NOTHING back for him.  Neat trade.
could have had Simmons.

I remember that team. Rondo and Jrue took Dame and C.J. out that year. I remember thinking that Pelicans team was the 3rd best team in the league that year, but had to face the Warriors in round 2.
Yeah, the Warriors have made really good teams look ordinary over the last several years.  Portland faced them a few times (2 at least) and in most games I said at some point "Hey, we have a shot here" and then like 2 minutes later GS would be soaring to a double digit lead.  That team is lethal.

Can’t you guys just enjoy fun basketball? If you want structure watch the Celtics or some college team like Vermont. I’ll take Ja and Ant dunking on dudes and Beverly making the too small motion right before Ja scores 13 in a row.

Exactly. The overreacting in this thread and by fans in general is crazy. 76ers lose a couple games, fire the coach, trade everyone but Embiid try to get Butler back.

The Mavs about to win their first series in years and they are disrespected because we don't talk about them or have them as a top 3 team.

Morant makes a stupid play and it is the end of the world for a 22 year old just scratching the surface.

Everyone relax. All year long we complain about guys sitting, not hustling every play, games don't matter because there are so many of them. Now every game matters, everyone is giving it their all and playing extended minutes. There are no maintenance days and it is entertaining as hell.

And the best part has been games EVERY day/night!   We're going to blink and it will be 4 days between Finals' games.

Well, they 100% should have fired Brett Brown, kept Jimmy Butler, and traded Simmons back in 2019.

You do realize every team can and does do this all time? Pistons shouldn't have drafted Darko and should have drafted Mitchell and Booker and fired Stan Van Gundy.

No one cares because they didn't. It is over and there is nothing anyone can do about it. Enjoy Embiid and look forward.

Do you know how boring it would be in here if we all relaxed? The ridiculous takes in here, especially during knee-jerk playoffs give Skip & SAS a run for their money.

funny thing about this one, is they can't blame Doc either. Without being able to blame, Ben, Doc or Toby, it will be interesting to hear who catches all the hate

Harden is already getting it he's been terrible. Only reason he looks like he has respectable numbers is he's going to the FT line.

Some of us like watching basketball in good way. If we wanted to see Harlem globetrotter and AND1 product we'd tune into that instead.

They should've drafted Ingram and stayed away from Simmons. The Sixers have had poor roster construction since day 1. Can't be blaming the coach for everything. All the GM's have a play in this too. Hinkie was a great guy to use as a tank machine GM but he wasn't a guy who would wheel and deal the assets acquired. COlangelo had his good moments and bad. Colangelo found out from USMB team survery only way he was gonna Geta star to sign in Philly was to trade for one and hope they signed long term to convince another big name to join. Players weren't trusting the Sixers ownership. Enter Noel to ATL for Teague/Schroader rumors. Fall back JC is gone Brand comes in makes the Butler deal good trade going off of JC's stuff here. Butler doesn't resign which creates a big issue. Sixers panic and Sign Tobias Harris as losing both him and Butler would've looked terrible. Continue to baby Ben till Brown simple says I don't give a #### just fire me this is hopeless. Not that Brown shouldn't have been fired but it's hard to run a team when the your employer is babying two guys you are suppose to coach and undermining any discipline you try to hand out because they don't want to upset the superstar drama queens. Embiid matured, Ben stayed the same.

Enter Doc Rivers a players coach who multiple people have said lets players walk all over him and show zero accountability. Won a title in spite his horrible coaching and main reason the original big 3 had a falling out.  Ben still doesn't listen forces his way out. Daryle Morey Sixers GM says "Ben isn't being traded unless I get a top 25 player back". Morey just destroyed a ton of options of trades he could make for Simmons value wise. The team needed depth and value not just one big name. Enter Cancer Harden on the Nets. Friends with Micheal Rubin a Sixers minority owner. Harden cancer gets traded for Ben Cancer. Sixers get rid of good shooting depth in Curry and a good back up big to Joel Embiid to take some minutes off the big man. Milsap has hardly played in the Series. Harden was fine the first few games has been really inconsistent since and hasn't put the team over.

Sixers have coughed up twice ending the Raptors and could be the first team to allow an opponent down 3 zero in a series to win. Doc Rivers today gets testy with the media making excuses for his 3-1 series failures plays the victim card.

Doc should be fired no matter what. If Morey Resigns Harden the ownership should immediately send Morey his walking papers. They need to trade Harris Albatross contract. I honestly think the 76ers are headed back to NBA purgatory soon meaning this thing was a total failure. If they don't try something soon Joel Embiid is gonna want out and then they are really screwed.

I was screaming from the rooftops (aka, posting on FBG's) that Brett Brown needed to go if the Sixers were ever going to do anything.

How it was obvious to some random internet schlub for years and not to the Sixers organization is beyond me.

Sixers wanted to keep Brown because they thought if he was fired it'd upset Ben. Brown coached Simmons dad in Australia and was/is a good family friend. The problem is Mr Simmons son is a problem ego baby back B**** that Brown couldn't do anything to help. Brown became the scape goat and it didn't help that the 76ers yes'd ben for all these years enabling this behavior he has now.

I agree with the bolded, but disagree with the first. I am guilty myself of getting to worked up over fan takes and I will try to relax as well and have fun.

"I don't care much about the Sixers"

Feel like the Boston/Bucks series will be the best series of the playoffs.  Boston favoured pretty good right now though.

Conference Semifinal Series Price
Milwaukee Bucks +175
Boston Celtics -200

I think the line would be a lot closer if Middleton was playing.  Shame he'll probably miss the series.
