He aint wrong in the NBA driving that narrative. This is the same NBA who covered up the illegal gambling by their own, threw Donaghey under the bus. When you look down that rabbit with an open mind it's easy to see there were a ton of others involved. Donaghey just got too cute with it and got caught and when he did the others stabbed him in the back. Stern was also quick to sweep the whole thing under the rug similar to Goodell making sure the tapes in the spy gate were destroyed in NE before being seen by the public because his buddy and Pats owner Robert Kraft got him that comfy seat a top the NFL.
Tim is actually from my area and a lot of stories about others in the NBA being involved and I know a ton of people who are friends with him, their kids friends etc. There are a lot more in this league who have retired since who were involved. Donaghey couldn't talk because the Mafia was also involved and he knew if he talked it could threaten his family so he took the bullet.
If you want to know more on this story though there was a movie in 2019 Inside Game that has Will Sasso as his numbers runner thats really good. it gives a backstory of how Tim started and how the mafia was involved. It doesn't blatantly refer to other refs and NBA people involved but it does hint that there were a lot more people involved then the NBA would like you to know.
I know people will be like "but if more were involved why wouldn't the league want them found out?". There's been rumors this whole thing goes up to the top to David Stern himself where he'd put certain refs on certain games including playoff series he wanted the series extended. This was done with his buddy Cowboy Joey Crawford who was kicked out of the league do to his incident with Tim Duncan but Stern brought him back in. A lot of people have done further digging on refs and history of their calls especially on fouls and any anonymities that may have occurred in certain games. Far more advanced stuff then I ever could do and Crawford was at the center of most of this.
Another reason the league wanted this swept under the rug is because of the playoffs in 2001 where the 76ers and Lakers were in the finals. One of the biggest rigged games most look back on is that Kings Lakers series where Marv Albert and Bill Walton were doing. Walton for NBC was very brash about how poor the officiating was even insinuating someone maybe getting paid. After that year Bill Walton hasn't announced an NBA game since. Some would say yeah he was unprofessional but at the same time if a gambling scandal was going on you don't want a commentator who might make people question your league legitimacy even more.
The 76ers/Bucks series also was in question but isn't as popular to some as the Sac/LAL was given how blatant the later was with some questionable play calls. It's been said the NBA wanted an AI/Kobe final and Kobe playing against his hometown. That 76ers team I did like and one of the few times I cheered for the 76ers. Also it's when I realized what a bandwagon town we were for pro basketball. I was a huge Bulls fan but was like hey I like this 76ers team and they got chance to win a title probably and were fun to watch. I loved Aaron McKie who at the time lived near me as well. However not being a 76ers fan I knew more about the team and roster than most so called 76ers fans in my school including my teachers. I also talked more to adults at parties my parents brought me too and it was even worse. People claiming to be big time fans couldn't even get players names right. Someone called Eric Snow Eric Iverson and Mckie Tyrone McKie. Anyway the 76ers bucks series had some blatant favoritism to the 76ers. I never really noticed it because it was subtle compared to the other series. However going back and watching the games when this was brought up in the NBA gambling threads and socials if you look at the games more closely now aware of it you can see it.
I loved that 76ers team but lets be honest. I don't think that 76ers team would've gotten to the finals without some NBA assistance similar to Lebron's Cavs team who got the finals that one year. The league just looks bad. However I think if Stern had come out and asked for a full investigation rather then trying to run from the whole scandal like a little

he always had been than I think a lot more people would've appreciated him more and we wouldn't have people accussing officials of rigging the league etc.
Either way
@GordonGekkoisn't wrong here. We are talking about a league who plays a ton of favoritism as well as has a questionable possible more illegal past then a lot of nBA loyalist want to admit or don't want to believe.
