nice little win by the bangos last night really think the cavs are on the right path they were fun to watch take that to the bank brohans

Kanter grew up in a country who tried to mass genocide a whole race (Turkey vs Armenians) that no-one wants to acknowledge ever happened (US congress finally acknowledged it 2 yrs ago btw) so I think banter has every right to speak on the issue going on in China. He's done so putting people in his life in danger as well. Kyrie is just another idiot that shows how poor our education system is in this country.
You're welcome to the opinion, obviously. I thought it was insightful to add to the discussion the thoughts of some folks who actually know and have interacted with both of them. Kanter has done a helluva job branding himself, that's for sure.

Per Shams, Pacers are entertaining a rebuild and Sabonis, Turner and/or LeVert are on the trading block.

Apparently the Wolves are very interested in Turner. This is where Prince's $13M expiring will come in handy. They'll probably have to give up Jaden McDaniels but if they can get it done without giving up Vanderbilt or Beasley that will be a steal.

Probably have to give up picks too.

Was just more so giving background on what Kanter has had to deal with and a lesser talked about topic (That should be talked about just as much as what happened in Germany barely 2 decades later) he is well aware of. In Fact Turkey tried the something last Summer when Turkey allied Israeli was helping them with American made weaponry and recon in another not so much talked about topic in America. Kanter knows his country better then anyone in the US speaking on it from an athletes few

Whats going on in China has been reported by many independent news agencies so it's not like Kanter is an amateur here. I was just saying this is a guy who's seen this stuff before happen in history or at least knows about it very well. He's not one of these athletes or celebs jumping on the whats popular virtue signaling. It's a topic he's been passionate about for yrs and has spoken out against the Turkish government numerious times with disregard to his own safety from his country that wants to kill him at this point. I don't think Kanter would be grandstanding or virtue signaling on stuff he knows could get him killed is all I'm saying.

CJ McCollum of the Blazers has a collapsed lung and didn't travel with the Blazers. Will be reevaluated soon per multiple reports coming out now.

TWolves are in a rough spot. Anthony Edwards is almost a lock to end up a Laker by his next contract. Given the Lakers are being run into the ground by LBJ, there might not even be a practical sign and trade available. Edwards might just play through his qualifying offer and walk as a street max free agent.

One of the worst kept secrets in the NBA is that the major shoe brands will make up the difference in lost money on a contract for one of their own Signature athletes if they sign in one location versus another.

If any team wants to keep their franchise player, they are now incentivized to ruin LBJ's lifetime contract with Nike. That contract is completely dependent on year to year sales based on LBJ's Nike brand. It could, in theory, be worth up to a billion dollars. But Klutch Sports without Nike is much more toothless.

Case in point, Tristan Thompson got a small level Nike endorsement deal. Because he was a Klutch client. Why would any brand in the world give TT a deal outside of the usual free swag/free gear type for fringe players unless there was the LBJ influence involved.

LBJ makes the NBA lots of money. And he costs them lots of money.

Similar to how LeBron’s upbringing gives him credibility to bring light to, and seek solutions for, issues in his community.

But Kanter/Freedom’s point is that LeBron should have to take sides in the issues in China if he wants to speak out about issues the African-American faces.

It’s the newer version of the  “what about Chicago” response to BLM messaging.

Celtics guys what happened to Payton Pritchard? I thought he had a pretty promising rookie year and now it looks like he's basically out of the rotation. Just pushed out by Schroder and Richardson being there? If he's just sitting behind them that's a guy who someone should target in a trade.

Again this isn't the what about Chicago argument. Lebron by HS was getting free stuff and the state and league he played in should've DQ'd Lebron from HS play. He was literally getting Free stuff the last 3 yrs in School. Mom got a new HMV his SR year. Lebron was living a grand life while pretending he was still struggling because if admitted to the free stuff he couldn't play HS anymore.

I get the he wants to seek solutions etc for his own community but I've spoken with people who have been around Lebron. In fact my cousin works in Marketing for his old club the Heat and he's not talked about too positively. He's talked like he's another one of these millionaires doing things that make him look good for PR reasons and its a tax break. So I think people are having the wool pulled over their eyes of how Lebron is this "great community guy who wants to do great things because he's a great guy."

You know that old saying "people shouldn't want to meet their idols because a lot of times you come away disappointed." Well I think LBJ is absolutely one of those guys.

ayo dosunmu might be one of the biggest steals in the draft. Not saying he's a future star but he's playing like he belongs. He was a potential 1st rounder (late) who slipped to the 2nd round for some reason. Played at Illinois and grew up in CHI too. AK may have done it again with a draft choice.

We should get Magic Johnson in here to up our level of discussion:

Earvin Magic Johnson

@MagicJohnson

If the @Lakers are going to turn their season around there are 3 things they must do on defense. First, they must play better individual defense. Second, play better team defense and third, transition. They must improve their transition defense!

At least he didn't drop a "consistency" bomb in there.

(That's a Ken Tremendous reference right there, by the way, for those that remember the blog "Awful Announcing" and Joe Morgan's repeated insistence on all things consistent)

Surprised as well and I've heard no comments on the topic.

They are turning a corner as a team and getting healthy...need to get this win tonight against a team they are actually better than on paper, but vs LBJ in a west coast road game is a tough win to get.

mostly foot speed. new coach big on foot speed. i like 8Mile, but a lot of his flaws were hidden by Stevens playing him at the 2 last season. he's strong enough to guard the 2, but a little slow to guard the ball. Udoku loves Richardson, which i dont like cuz i think Nesmith & Langford should be getting more floortime, even tho Josh is playing the best i seen him since he got used to the system. i'd be surprised if 8Mile is ever more than a 15min guy unless his trey gets stone automatic

:lmao:   :lmao:

Seriously may be his best work.

I'm in bed chuckling and trying to explain what's so funny to my wife just isn't resonating with her.

Should we tell everyone what the thread title translates to or go with it and see how many people get it?

Lol. Here I was all self-conscious about ruining the thread and having a good laugh at myself, oblivious to a potential translation. Well played, again.

One of the first things I did because I was wondering if it was just gibberish or an actual title in Chinese

(Fire Joe Morgan, actually)
Oh wow. You're exactly right. Thanks. I think I mixed up blogs. I used to sort of be half with it when I would read them back around '07 or so (I only remember because it was my second year of law school and I used to blow off steam with those web sites).

Wonder if the new Thread title breaks any board guidelines and a mod changes it? I really hope not though.
I actually wondered this when I thought of it but I don’t see how it could. I guess if Joe thought I was trying to get around language filter but there’s nothing bad in there.

Billy has raved about his character and coachableness too which is very encouraging.

Yeah I didn't see it as such but I know how they are on these things now

watching these nba teams play perimeter D is frustrating.  This goes for most teams, but I'm watching WAS vs DET and DET is shooting 58% from 3 pt range.  And the Wiz continuously help when it's not needed, and from where they can't actually help anyway.  Leaving the 3 shooter wide open.  Look, I get in college and lower why you help...most kids can't shoot 3s with consistency.  But pros, they are gonna hit a ton of open 3s.  You could literally force teams to shoot 2s and be better off.  Who cares if a guy banks in a 5 foot runner.  Stop helping on it and stay with our perimeter man.  I saw the same thing from several teams the other day.  It's like some players are so used to helping from younger days they can't resist the urge to move over, when it is a negative to the D.

Zion shut down due to continued foot soreness. Obviously lot of time in season to return but pellies bottom of standings. Realistic possibility they'll have gotten a whole 85 games out of Zion in 3 seasons.

Cant imagine why. That photo not sure if it was photo shopped or not looks like Zion needs lay off the cajun for awhile down there

Wow this is also why I don't go crazy excited about prospects anymore. NBA draft anymore is an absolute crapshoot. You got a ton of athletically skilled guys but that doesn't mean much if they aren't available or can't do the little things like shoot and all. We need to do a better job of player development and Ive been saying this for yrs too. All these europeans are catching up to the US. Realistically whos the best young player for the USA that you feel confident in? There's no Bird/MJ/Magic/Carter/Kobe/Shaq/Lebron/KD IMHO to lead the next charge. Curry and company aren't getting any younger
