You all just go on fellating the Nets and the Sixers and the Heat and the Bulls.  Meanwhile, the defending champs will be more than content playing the role of underdog...

For me—the true contenders in the East are the Nets, Bucks, Sixers and Heat.   Chicago is solid—but I’m not willing to put them up with those other teams just yet.  The Nets probably have the highest ceiling out of all of those teams if they are playing perfect basketball—but they also have a lot of question marks.  They don’t have much time on the court together fully healthy, I still don’t trust their interior defense, and assuming that they can just integrate Simmons right into their systems and rotations seamlessly is a pretty giant assumption.

I think Simmons could integrate quickly given his anticipated role.  The thing is, he isn't even traveling with the team right now due to his back.  So he isn't in all meetings or practices and is still often on his own.  Something still not right with him.

I disagree about Simmons being integrated quickly and easily.  What do you think his anticipated role is?  Simmons is a guy that needs the ball in his hands on the offensive end to be effective at all.  Do you really want to take the ball out of the hands of KD, Kyrie, or even Seth in order to allow Simmons to be an offensive asset?  If they don’t allow Simmons to have the rock in his hands—they are basically playing 4 versus 5 on the offensive end. Integrating Simmons into the Nets offense in a manner that limits the potential negative offensive impacts of the team is not going to be easy. In honesty—the answer to maximizing his effectiveness could be to bring him off the bench—but who knows if he’s willing to do that.

I kinda like Boston in the East.
then someone else will have to beat the Nets. KD owns the Green worse than anyone - mostly cuz the dominance gets JayTay completely off his feed - and they'll never get past Kyrie, the last vestige of the Curse of the Leprechaun.

ETA: Simmons wont add nor detract from the problem for the Celts - they (mostly their now-GM) are the ones who first solved him 2-3 yrs ago

Ideal setup for the Celtics is the 4 seed with Miami at the 1, Phi/Mil 2/3 and Brooklyn gets the 7 seed.  That way they have to get through Philly & Milwaukee before the Celtics would have to face them.  I like Boston's chances against the Bulls in a 4/5 and then a realistic chance against Miami.  I don't think Boston can beat the Bucks or the Nets in a series.

Getting out of the East isn't going to be easy for anyone.

As a fan, I hope so, but I don't think they're there yet. Tatum's really good, but still on the ascent. And I don't see Horford or Williams able to keep up defensively with the likes of Embiid over a series. Playoffs are all about the battle of the superstars, and Giannis, Embiid, KD/Kyrie today, are all superior to Tatum.

Wikkid also made a solid point, I think Tatum has an ego where he's gotta be the star putting up 40 every game. He'll definitely bury the team trying to keep up with KD or Kyrie.

Overall it's a team as they have been for a # of years now, where they still rely too much on 3's and jumpers for my taste. And it's hard to keep that kind of stroke over an entire playoff.

i'm hoping White gets his stroke back by playoff time because his better-than-Smaaaat PG skills shorten the drive path of both the Jays and creates an option other than treys in beating zone coverage. the Nets are the only team they can't beat (West included) but, until they prove otherwise, they dont have the number on anyone. cant solve others til you've solved yourself and and playoff series more solved than beaten..

I've always liked D. White, so I'm hoping he helps this team in the playoffs.  With Portland now playing for draft picks, Boston is my team to root for this year.  Hope this isn't the kiss of death for Celt fans, but I do like that nobody seems to be touting them in the East.

The most interesting thing about the Lakers is HTF they'll try to rid of Westbrook this offseason 🤣.

They might not be the worst team in the league right now but they're in the conversation. It's unbelievable Lakers are still #9 in the the West with how bad the bottom half of it is.

Raps and Nets #7 and #8 in East. Gonna be some damn good first round matchups if make playoffs and healthy. If either can avoid Bucks Round 1, wouldn't at all be surprised with round 1 upsets. JMO Raps are the most under the radar team in league. Lotta talent. Even if Trent Jr might be the streakiest offensive players in the league. They're at their best when offense facilitating through Barnes IMO. Ball movement seems to be an issue otherwise.

That was a fun 4th quarter.  Seeing Doncic hit those rainbow fadeaways at the end was a thing of beauty.
Those rainbow drops were indeed beautiful.

It's so interesting to watch Luka play...everything he does looks like it's half speed but he still eats.  Even the amount of time for ball to go from his fingertips to the rim seems to take twice as long as anybody else shooting.

Nets can't love the idea of traveling to Toronto (without Kyrie) for a play-in game and then potentially having to host either Charlotte or Atlanta (again, without Kyrie) in a win-or-go-home scenario.

Not even remotely close to the problem with this game.   A) poor shooting, B) good Boston D, C) Marcus Smart is a dirty player and POS
I don't think the dive for the ball was even remotely dirty. He dove straight at the ball.

The kick at the ball later in the play was... interesting. I don't know if I would call it dirty but there is certainly no reason to kick at a ball in someone's hands.

i've watched Maaaacus Smaaaat play day in & day out for like 6 yrs now. it's really a small miracle that i was surprised by the kick because, in order to understand what he does on a basketball court, one must stipulate that #36 is a man possessed. the things he does out there are all acts of fury. the real surprise is that he can be self-possessed at all, but he has become more composed every season. dont change the fact that the basketball is a human liver and he's Hanibal Lecter and woe to all who would contest that.

Bulls are lucky they started off so strong. They've really fallen off. They've looked bad here in Phoenix tonight. Playing the worst of any of the East playoff teams right now.

Derozan was bound to cool off at some point. Doesn't seem like Lonzo can be counted on much this season.

supporting my case on the quality of the Sixer bench - i play in a Yahoo DFS contest and last nite, for their game v Dallas, every member of the Philly bench was available for the minimum $10 price. first time i've ever seen that in almost 20 yrs playing capleague/DFS.

Injuries every time effect them no matter who's there. This org is like snake bitten since MJ left. Hopefully everyone is back for the playoffs and we have a clean slate again.
