2021 Buffalo Bills - Same as it ever was*** (5 Viewers)

I can't see how they possibly pass up Barkley if QBs go at 2 and 3.

What better way to give your future QB a headstart than to line a guy like Barkley up in the backfield?
There is no way teams are going to take a running back over the quarterbacks in this draft or Bradley Chubb.

I would be shocked if Barkley goes in the top five picks.

There’s been a RB taken in the top 5 each of the last two years - and top 10 the year before - and Barkley is considered the best prospect of them all.

Its a deep RB draft, they have a bounty of picks, and they signed Carlos Hyde.
Hyde has dealt with a ton of injuries and never even rushed for 1,000 yards. He's not going to prevent the Browns from drafting anyone.

I just don't see the Browns passing up a back as talented as Barkley. He's the #1 prospect in the entire draft. I guess they could go Chubb, but after taking Garrett at #1 last year, I doubt they go pass rusher that high again.

I don't disagree.  Just pointing out why they may pass on the RB.  I'm hoping the really like Minkah or decide to trade the pick to you guys.

I'm sure the Bills could've matched the deal that the Jets gave for the #3.  Any theories as to why?  Maybe they want to see who will fall to them at #12?  Maybe they want to see how the top 5 or so picks play out before trading up.  Maybe Beane was asleep at the wheel?

Maybe....

(1) The Colts were only looking to trade down to a position where they could still draft one of the blue chip players.

(2) ....and have the option of trading down again to simultaneously grab a good player and picking up more draft assets to rebuild their team.

The Bills don't necessarily help the Colts in scenario #1 but may in scenario #2 (to be decided).

1 makes sense. Other than the QBs, I'd have Barkley, Chubb and Nelson in the top tier by themselves. I like Fitz and a few others but not all that close to those 3.

Bills GM Brandon Beane told MMQB's Peter King he is "not ready" to move up in the draft for a quarterback.

"I haven’t spent enough time to have an opinion about any of them yet, honestly," Beane said. "I am not there yet, knowing if we can or will move up again...We’re just keeping an open mind." Beane put himself in position to move up by acquiring the 12th pick in the Cordy Glenn trade, and he has four more picks in the top-65 including No. 22 overall at his disposal if he wants to make the move. Considering Buffalo's depth chart currently consists of A.J. McCarron and Nathan Peterman, it would be a surprise if they did not attempt to trade up for one of the top quarterbacks.
This time of year cracks me up - while I could totally believe the evaluation process is not complete yet, if a team that needs a QB hasn't even spent enough time evaluating them to have an opinion yet that's malpractice.

I get why he'd answer that way - it's the way he has to answer at this point. It's more the reporting on it that I find funny.

Peter King is terrible. He'll carry water for just about anyone as long as they make him feel like he's an insider with super exclusive access.

Not so sure about Bodine. The Bengals fans on Twitter seem awfully happy that he is no longer a Bengal.

FWIW I just read somewhere-a Rotoworld blurb maybe?- that PFF had graded him as one of the worst centers in the league last year. Don't recall the exact ranking, think it was like 28th of 32, something like that.

So we got that going for us.

Luckily, I think Groy will be fine starting at Center and Bodine will be depth at best.

What are the criticisms? In that article it said he only gave up one sack. Obviously the run game is huge for Centers, but curious why everyone is so down on him.

They ranked him 25th.   Equally bad at run blocking and pass blocking.

And Bodine is only 25 years old with 64 starts under his belt.

That article on Buffalobills.com you mean? This is a different take from a Bengals site:

But while losing a starting center seems like a big loss, it may actually be a blessing in disguise for the Bengals. They drafted Bodine in the fourth round of the 2014 NFL Draft, and he immediately became the team’s starting center.

But he’s had an up-and-down career, and it’s mostly been down. Pro Football Focus has graded Bodine with a 52.8, 46.1, 70.5 and 46.8 in each of the last four years respectively. All but his 2016 grade were poor, and his 2016 grade was only “average”. These grades are out of 100, which speaks to how bad he’s been, but the Bengals never could find a capable challenger for his spot.

Now, the Bengals have a need at center, though this is a great chance for them to upgrade what’s been one of, if not their biggest weakness for several years now.

they literally schemed the Bengals offense away from him

Linky

and this is an example why

Linky2

Hope for your guys sake he gets better but it is not the garden variety comments that go with a guy leaving a team.  Andre Smith didn't resign either but he was a passable depth guy.  Bodine was a menace to our offense and Marvin had this stubborn loyalty to him and it drove ua Bengals fans crazy.

Again wish you guys luck with him maybe the change of scenery is truly what he needs.

We're really bored if we're putting this much analysis into mediocre OLine signings.  I guess it's been a few days since Beane has done something completely off the wall insane.

I've also seen several mocks where the Bills trade up to #2 with the Giants.  I don't think that's happening with Eli being old and the Giants being in a rebuild mode.  Browns, Giants and Jets are all taking a QB.

I could see the Bills trading up to the 7-8-9 slot if there's a QB still around that they like.  But I would be surprised if they made their way into the top 5.

I wouldn't be utterly shocked if the Browns traded out of 4. They are likely going to have their choice of a few different blue-chippers, so I'd be somewhat surprised, but they could sill get a damn good player at 12, as well as many other picks.

That would basically leave them with a late 2, a late 3, 4, 5, 6 this year. They better hope they get the right guy...

Yes, I know, let's all yuk it up at Zay's expense.  But who among us has not gotten into a buck-naked altercation with a sibling while leaving a blood-soaked trail behind?

TMZ comments read as a cross between a Trump convention and an ELS class.

Hope he gets some help. Feel like felony vandalism is slightly overcharge.

Low class Bills fans.  This is a real person.  Who is obviously suffering from something serious.  He’s not just some name you put into your fantasy lineups.

I've seen this mentioned in exactly 0 places. Where are you finding this "rumor"?

As far as I can tell, the author of that tweet is just some random gambling guy.  That said, it would be very strange and borderline malpractice if the Bills weren't making an offer for the #2 pick.

I'm sure they're making an offer, or at least pricing out the cost. But this being the offer is odd. The Bills have been very tight lipped when it comes to leaking information. It's doubtful they're letting this offer get out there. Just as unlikely that Josh Allen is their guy.

Odds are the Bills end up with the second pick. They have the ammo and the need. Unless their guy is Lamar Jackson they must move up.

I copy and pasted that from a Bucs’ board I frequent.

The fact that the Giants didn't take what the Jets were offering kind of tells me they aren't too interested in trading out and want a QB.
