It feels like FBGs doesn't want us to commingle with the general population anymore to avoid brining everyone else down.Does this game actually deserve one?Where is the game thread?

I think they've done that entrance for at least 1-2 other games this season as well. I know they've done that at least once.Coming out of the tunnel during player announcements, the 4 starting Dlinemen all waited for each other huddled and then walked in together.
Butler should be receiving a playoff check from the Steelers next week.Surprised with the result; I'll give em credit for showing up today.
Mario Butler pretty much put the Steelers in the playoffs.
I suspect a lot of people will blame Thompkins for the drop but it was a tremendous play on the ball by Butler. Really great play.Butler should be receiving a playoff check from the Steelers next week.Surprised with the result; I'll give em credit for showing up today.

Yep, that's part of it- drafting #19 now. I think the season in general was just "ugh" though.Ugh because they won?Ugh.
Would you give him 4 years, $80-$85 million right now?I'm still strongly of the opinion that we need to extend Taylor asap. He's not Aaron Rodgers, but at no point this season did he look like anything other than a solid NFL starter. Also lots of credit to him for dragging Mills out of a scrum and ordering his ### back to the huddle. His game has improved as the season went on, and he seems to have grown into a leader too.
This season was hugely disappointing but I do think we finally found our QB.
I honestly don't know what market salary is for QBs right now, so I don't know how to answer that question. I'm happy if we get him for median-starting-qb-in-the-league money. That's a steal and probably isn't too far from doable if we act now.Would you give him 4 years, $80-$85 million right now?I'm still strongly of the opinion that we need to extend Taylor asap. That is from this article, which was posted earlier in the thread. They calculate his "value" at 4 years, $82.77 mil.I honestly don't know what market salary is for QBs right now, so I don't know how to answer that question. How long have we been flopping around without a QB. When you think you have one, you sign him. If you think Taylor isn't a starter, then that's one thing -- we just disagree on talent assessment, but I don't claim to have any expertise here. But all teams pay their QBs if they want to keep them around. That's a non-negotiable part of running an NFL franchise. It's pretty easy to say "pay the guy" when you don't even think about what the number would be never mind what it means. It's the same reason people are ecstatic over the Shady trade- IMO you aren't fully appreciating the financial aspect of things and how it can impact the rest of the roster.

Edit: Do you want to let Taylor walk in 2017? Because that's the most realistic alternative to extending him in the offseason.

Seems kinda similar to the "win immediately" mindset that led to the Watkins trade.Yeah, I saw that. Not a fan of the ultimatum (if that's what actually happened).
Buffalo News with another hack job story. Pegula stated it wasn't true. Whaley got extended. There are also reports that the Bills are about to finalize a 4 year extension with Whaley. One of those has to be wrong.
Dennis Thurman. Played for Cowboys. Bills fans hated to lose Pettine couple yrs ago when he went to Clev. Turned Bills aggressive. Long history with Rex. If this brings in Pettine, this would be strong staff combined with Roman on O.Heard Rex is firing his DC (I don't even know the guy's name).
Hopefully this sets up a reunion with Mike Pettine.
What I'm rooting for: Rex hires Mike Pettine.Heard Rex is firing his DC (I don't even know the guy's name).

Isn't it pretty much universal practice that the HC gets to pick his own staff?I'm curious what the dynamics are like behind the scenes. Normally I'm not a fan of the owner meddling (and I still worry about the Pegula's being too hands on), but the alternative to that is giving Rex full control, and I wouldn't want to see that happen either. I mean, how can you really argue that he should be allowed to hand pick his DC after the awful job he just did with his previously hand-picked DC? Especially if it is his brother, who was fired after leading one of the worst defenses we've ever seen for the last two years...
Yes, which is why I wrote that I'm normally not a fan of the owner meddling. In this case however, I don't think I could let the guy who just botched one of the best defenses in the NFL bring in the guy who ran one of the worst defenses in NFL history to try and "fix" it.Isn't it pretty much universal practice that the HC gets to pick his own staff?I'm curious what the dynamics are like behind the scenes. Urg. This would be awful. Which means it'll probably happen. What I'm rooting for: Rex hires Mike Pettine.Heard Rex is firing his DC (I don't even know the guy's name).

What I actually expect to happen: Rex hires Rob Ryan.
Well, Whaley got extended today (which I think is good). Also, reports are that Rex has hired Rob to help with the defense.Urg. This would be awful. Which means it'll probably happen. What I'm rooting for: Rex hires Mike Pettine.Heard Rex is firing his DC (I don't even know the guy's name).

I really hate this team sometimes.

:XBills hired ex-Saints DC Rob Ryan as a defensive assistant.
Ryan has failed in virtually all of his defensive coordinator stops, but his name has kept him as a somewhat hot name around the league. In Buffalo, Rob will reunite with his brother Rex to help try fixing a Bills defense that severely disappointed in 2015.

Unbelievable (yet, very Billievable). I hope his involvement is nothing much more than tackling dummy holder.:XBills hired ex-Saints DC Rob Ryan as a defensive assistant.

Does this mean that Thurman has been fired? Rob's title makes it sound like he just took his job.I know it's just a title, but he's "assistant head coach/defense". Really?
I think typically the coach hires his own assistants, but it's also typical for the GM to hire the HC, and I don't think Doug Whaley had much if any input with the Rex hire. I think that was primarily a Pegula move. So....let's say Rex completely runs a fuster cluck program next year, I could see where he may be kicked to the curb and Whaley is given the chance to bring in his own hand picked coach.Yes, which is why I wrote that I'm normally not a fan of the owner meddling. They haven't announced that (yet), but last week he basically said he didn't want to say anything about other coaches until he spoke with them. It sounds like he just created this position for his brother. The title makes it sound like it's above the DC, but who the heck knows.Does this mean that Thurman has been fired? Rob's title makes it sound like he just took his job.I know it's just a title, but he's "assistant head coach/defense". Really?
