Boldin left the team and announced his retirement.
Not true.Yeah Tyrod's most effective out of the pocket. I would hope that they went vanilla because it's preseason and don't want to expose him to big hits. No way of knowing until the season starts.
I don't blame him. He was told the team was trying for a championship and it has become obvious that they're more interested in setting up for the long-term. That was pretty messed up from Beane.Dr. Octopus said:Boldin left the team and announced his retirement.
There's always a clamor for the backup when the starter hasn't proven himself to be a stud.Am I the only one who doesn't understand the Peterman hype? I've watched these preseason games and a number of his college games. Dude looks like a serviceable NFL backup to me.....not much more than that. People are going ape#### and calling for him to start week 1......I don't see it. I'm happy to be wrong and I certainly hope he ends up being a superstar, but it's way too early to project that.
Yep same thing happening with Brandon Allen in Jax. Happens without fail. There's always a clamor for the backup when the starter hasn't proven himself to be a stud.
And I agree. He has made a few nice throws against the twos, but his footwork hasn't been great, his arm still isn't very impressive and he has been downright awful against the blitz so far.
Good for him. He got suckered into a bad situation. He doesn't need this mess...Dr. Octopus said:Boldin left the team and announced his retirement.
OT but I would say there hasn't been enough talk about Allen actually - even though he's probably looked the best out of the three QBs in preseason for Jax. Seems like he's an afterthought.Yep same thing happening with Brandon Allen in Jax. Happens without fail.
I was worried but the lower case "y" calmed me down a bit - if you are not in complete panic that's good enough for me.DON'T WORRY GUyS IT'S ALL GOING ACCORDING TO PLAN
The O-line looks like it could be a total disaster. I have a growing concern that the Bills could end up using a high draft pick in a QB next year only to see him get ruined playing behind a nightmare of a line. Glenn may never be healthy, Wood and Incognito are reaching the ends of their careers and the right side of the line has been awful (although Miller has seemed servicable. Not sure why Ducasse continues to get reps there). Why the hell don't they cut Henderson? He seems like a nice enough guy and the NFL screwed him on the marijuana suspension (he has Crohn's disease), but he's so horrible at OT that it hurts watching him.
As soon as they announced the trades, I gave up any hope of a competitive team. I wish they'd deal McCoy, Taylor (if they can get anything for him), even Dareus. Sadly, they might still win at least 4 games due to Miami, and the Jets.Eh, would you rather be 7-9 or 8-8 and end up with another Don't Whitner or 3-13 and draft a QB?
It sucks to know that the playoff drought will extend another year, but might as well go all in on a tank job and try to get a QB at this point.
McCoy would be a $7.5M dead cap hit. Dareus would be $38M in dead cash this year and $22M next year.As soon as they announced the trades, I gave up any hope of a competitive team. Meh... DetailsMcCoy would be a $7.5M dead cap hit. Dareus would be $38M in dead cash this year and $22M next year.
McCoy isn't going anywhere this year and Dareus is here for at least 2 more years.
Nothing they've done or had happen to them yet in the last month has added or subtracted W's.Eh, would you rather be 7-9 or 8-8 and end up with another Don't Whitner or 3-13 and draft a QB?

just for perspective, sat at almost every Rams game last year where people in the stands were screaming for Goff to get on the field until he did then they just boo'ed. Goff had zero chance of being a start imo, so there's that. reality of football fans' perspective is something different is always better until it isn't. Tyrod doesn't look to be the answer but he's a known commodity. the unknown commodity wins for now.Am I the only one who doesn't understand the Peterman hype? Did anyone else hear this before? To think that Donahoe had a deal agreed on to trade up and draft Big Ben only to back out at the last minute and take JP Losman instead is just brutal.
Yeah, it's one thing to look at Aaron Rodgers, Russ Wilson, Dak Prescott (maybe), etc and be disappointed the Bills passed them up. But to hear that they had a deal lined up to move up and take Big Ben and pulled out at the last second hurts more for some reason. Pretty crazy to me that I had never heard that before.Oh hey... that's my twitter account
Yeah the Donahoe thing just sucks. Imagine being set at QB for the past 10 years. It's the reason why I'm on team tank
$17M of Dareus' dead money is in guaranteed salary though so that would go with him to the new team, so moving him now would be $20.5M, only $4M more than his current number. McCoy would actually be a $1M cap savings this year too if they did that.McCoy would be a $7.5M dead cap hit. Dareus would be $38M in dead cash this year and $22M next year.

I wouldn't be surprised if Seattle cuts or trades Kearse. I don't know what his salary or cap hit would be but the Seahawks have a lot of young talent after Baldwin and Lockett and I don't know who the scouts are on Green Bay but they always seem to know how to get talent at WR on that team and I'm sure there are other teams who will cut someone like a Victor Cruz or a Tavon Austin type of player.Where it hurts is in the compensatory selection process. Boldin leaving and Streater being banged up makes Holmes likely to stick.
We have to cut 3 players by Week 10 to probably be awarded a 3rd for Gilmore.
Duccasse is likely one of them. He'll be cut once Henderson comes off suspension.
Ryan Davis will likely be cut with Yarbo passing him on the depth chart.
I'm curious if they can cut Holmes and sign him back.
Maybe some surprise WR cuts happen around the league.
I heard the Colts are shopping Dorsett as well. 4.33 speed is something the WR corps needs. I'm hoping Ragland gets traded for a younger WR myself but not counting on it.CanadianNFLJunkie said:I wouldn't be surprised if Seattle cuts or trades Kearse. Lorenzo Alexander, a member of the NFLPA’s executive committee and veteran leader on the defense, said it’s important that players who protest can “give a reason why” and not just see it as the “in” thing to do.
"I don't want it to be a thing where it just becomes a cool thing to do because you see guys around the league doing it," said Alexander. "Have some reasoning behind it. And then also, No. 2 is, take it a step further and engage your community – whether it's with kids or political figures in your community to create some real change past just starting a conversation. I think it's going to take all of those things if we really want to see some real change in totality throughout our culture and our country today."
I agree. Alexander is a great dude. And it seems like he could have had a lot more success of her had been given more of an opportunity previously.I wish we had gotten this guy when he was 28 instead of 34.
It was just an example of it costing them literally nothing but cap space which they have plenty.I don't see anyone giving up a 3rd for Hurns, not coming off that season and with that contract. They'd probably take a late round pick just to get him off the books at this point (he hasn't even played in the pre-season for some reason). I'd be fine taking a flyer for a late round pick, but really, until they get better QB play, it doesn't really matter who they have at WR.
They don't really have plenty of cap space, but why are you acting as if that (potential) 3rd rounder is "free"? Following your logic, it would "cost" them Gilmore to get Hurns. It was just an example of it costing them literally nothing but cap space which they have plenty.
I'm sure a 5th would get it done. You net a 2 round pick upgrade.
I'll be pretty pissed if they don't get that free third round pick in compensation if they choose to keep Holmes, Davis or Ducasse. I believe week 10 they all need to be off the roster. We'll be out of a playoff spot anyways.
I'd much prefer Dorsett. Can't see them cutting him but could swing a Ragland trade. Frazier seems to like him as his project working his way into playing time. Not too thrilled to hear that Ducasse will be starting Sunday night. Hopefully it's a last chance type thing rather than a sign of what's to come.
Glad to hear Tyrod is "playing free" and loose in practice. If he can do that when it counts, I think it would improve his game a lot.
And yeah, I don't want Hurns. I'd rather scoop up a Dorsett or similar once cuts are made.
Yes, Dawkins will be starting at LT on Sunday.I'd much prefer Dorsett. Can't see them cutting him but could swing a Ragland trade. Frazier seems to like him as his project working his way into playing time.
They better address WR in the next week or two. I'm surprised Miller isn't starting myself. Hopefully it's just to see if he's worth keeping on the roster. Did they mention if Dawkins is starting at LT and stop with Henderson?
Just stay injury free. McCoy better not get over-worked with Williams banged up.Yes, Dawkins will be starting at LT on Sunday.
O-line is a total mess right now.
Just want to give you kudos for the" title" of this thread. classic! Not too thrilled to hear that Ducasse will be starting Sunday night. Hopefully it's a last chance type thing rather than a sign of what's to come.

Sorry for the hipple, but the odds are really bad.I never really got to watch DGB in the NFL, but man, he was incredible at Missouri. What are the odds he can give us that WR help we need?
Edit to add: I forgot I heard he has charecter issues and doesn't really fit in with what we want on our team right now.
Wow. They just traded for him too. I wonder what happened.Kony Ealy released by Patriots. Any chance McDermott brings in one of his old players?
