2021 College football thread - Auburn’s gotta Auburn. (1 Viewer)

Ooooh, so I'm in the wrong thread.  Thank you for the re-direct.  The quote that facook posted (and I was simply replying to) however, was from THIS thread and not prior to the game.

So the pros are in THAT thread?  Good to know.

P.S.  I am a super square.
:lmao:   We're all square brother.  Welcome to the club.  The guys who are actually sharp stopped posting years ago.

Well, onto the next game, any leans?

Pessimistic Oregon homer: While both teams lost coaches/staff, Ducks players appear to have opted out/entered transfer portal in greater numbers.  Caleb Williams vs Anthony Brown, in what should be a heavily Sooner crowd.  Throw in the Ducks Alamo Bowl history (most angry I've EVER been during a football game) and it's Boomer or nothing for this guy.

When more than 1 or 2 teams from another conference are actually in the main conversation, then they are allowed to chant their conference affiliation.  Ncaa by-law 12.q.24-1

Let's say your team was beating UCF in the bowl game last week, and you were in the crowd.  If the Gator fans broke out in an "SEC" chant, would you have joined in?

SEC envy is great, especially amongst the pac 12 crowd. HMU when yall are relevant or when you settle on a decent uni combo....

I dont cheer for the SEC... unless it's against wannabe conference honks. And will never root for Free Shoes U (just like auburn fans I know will never root for bama).

Alabama vs Cincinnati...give me Cincinnati.  Michigan vs Georgia... I hope a giant sinkhole opens up and swallows both at the kickoff

If it ends up alabama vs Georgia in the final....I just won't watch.  Alabama vs Michigan?  Damn right I'm rooting for bama.

I respect you.  Sincerely.  Maybe it is some envy, or some jealousy, or some covetousness.  One of those deadly sins.  But I think more it's just DISrespecting the SEC honks that are not like you and ballscrub Bama into thinking they matter more than 95% of the country in this dumb sport.  :)

Mad respect for the Mel Blount cowboy hat for OU defense turnover.  That's way cooler than necklaces or belts or Nerf hoops.

All I know is I heart OU.

Whoever posted the Stoops coming back for 300K sealed it for me.  That, and the fact they want to keep that #1 QB, so figured they want to light #### up.

And as for the "my team didn't care" thing...

1. Everyone wants to beat the SEC teams. For any number of aforementioned reasons.

2. Kids go to school for a) play time or B) championships.  If A isn't happening you better damn sure be in it for B.  If you are 19 or 20yo and your team isn't in either A or B, then you quit or transfer. Guarantee Noone above 3rd string cares. SEC Coaches know and are just stringing along getting kids some pt.

In the SEC, there was sort of a chance for 1 of those 2 in any given year.  Sure, bama mostly has it locked down but there were chinks in the armor then Georgia, florida, lsu, whoever in the 2nd tier, could offer play time AND  the chance to knock of the king.  But yet again, bama proves us all to be the bridesmaid.

Look at the other conferences...Acc?clemson crapped the bed then no one.   Pac 12?  Oof.  B1G?  I'm as happy as any Michigan fan that OSU is out bit no other contenders.. Big 12? I was really pulling for OSU but nope and really no other deserving candidates.

In any given year in the SEC it could be bama, auburn, LSU, Georgia, florida etc.  Mostly alabama for sure and I'd love to see a 5 year down turn but no other conference can list more than 2 teams that have a halfway decent shot.  I'm not SEC SEC SEC.  But damn, show some better football before you start throwing shade.

Why?  You should HAAAAAATE Alabama.  (I think the rest of that post was $....just curious.)
Don't haaaaaaate per se.  Really dislike.  Wife was a former bammer.  I grew up in Gainesville.  Now I haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaate  Georgia.

But you do get that

A) Most of us admit when our schools suck, with no excuses and.....

B) Don't care how the rest of the conference does?

"Throwing shade" at the "best conference in CFB" when they are Oh-fer in the bowls isn't throwing shade.  It's stating a fact of being over-rated.  You get that right?  (As Oregon gets run off the field against OK, which I prophesied and made no pre- nor during- excuses for....)

That was a relatively fun game to watch. I love me some Kennedy Brooks and it was nice to see Marcus Major continue to look good carrying the ball.

Reminded me of bowl games pre-CFP: two good programs lighting it up for a while, some comeback nervousness, Stoops smiling and egging on the crowd.

Not clear if JT Daniels is even available for tomorrow…strange…the never ending drama of Kirby and his QBs.

Please elaborate to the uninformed, if you don't mind.
The little I’ve read about it, here is my take.  Kirby has every intention of starting Bennett and unless they fall behind quickly and/or Bennett just looks lost he will stick with him.  Many fans want Daniels as he’s probably the better QB.  Kirby thinks that is risky and won’t do it unless his hand is forced.  The “injury” is just an easy cover for his decision.  All of this is just MO.

He appears healthy…but Kirby won’t say anything about his health…just that he’s questionable. He never warmed up in the SECC. Rumor is he’s struggling w some anxiety about getting on the field, but no one really knows.
I think your post is exactly why Kirby won’t play him unless he feels he has to.  There’s pressure in CFB as it is, even more when you are the starting QB, more in the SEC and then even more when you are Georgia and haven’t won in 40 years.  And no matter what, if Georgia loses, Kirby and the QB will be questioned by the fan base.
