2021 College football thread - Auburn’s gotta Auburn. (2 Viewers)

Bruins get a touchdown (bad call it was incomplete) and just stripped the ball away (probably should have been whistled). So they might pull this out after all. But it’s all luck; they don’t deserve it.

The UNC/UVA game was so awesome. Mind you, UNC hasn't beaten UVA in football or basketball (men's) since Barack Obama was President. And UVA has been a thorn in the side long before that.

UNC goes up 24-7 early. Howell chucking bombs all over the field. His first quarter was something silly like 5 throws, 4 completions, 3 TD's and about 200 yards.  Josh Downs doing a Tyreek Hill impersonations. Dyami Brown's little brother catching 75 yard TD.

Then of course UVA catches momentum with their stupid gimmicky offense and the unibrow ginger QB. They end up leading 28-24 at half.

Every UNC fan in the world feeling like they've seen this horrible movie before.

But nah. Came out in the second half running Ty Chandler down their throats and dominated that disgusting, pathetic team/program/school.

Official crowd for last night’s White Out was 109,958. And they were loud all game.
Not that the polls really matter right now, but it would be nice to see Penn State above those jagoffs from Columbus.

They are projected to jump to 6. Right behind Iowa.

@Brett_McMurphy: Only 22 unbeaten Power 5 teams left

ACC-Boston College, Wake Forest

Big Ten-Iowa, Maryland, Michigan, Mich. St, Penn St, Rutgers

Big 12-Baylor, Kansas St, Oklahoma, Okla. St, TCU, Texas Tech

Pac-12-Oregon

Biggest difference from SEC and B1G is SEC doesn't need these gimmicks to have a great atmosphere. Swam and Death Valley Night Games the atmosphere speaks for itself and honestly lets all be real. NCAA should've given PSU the Death penalty but PSU makes the NCAA too much money.

Bo Nix played a very solid game last night and Auburn repped the SEC well.

Amazing how far Tennessee has fallen…at the Swamp this week and no one cares.

Tennessee is embarrassing these days. This should be an easy win for UF after a tough loss yesterday but UF showed they might be the only team to hang with Alabama. What might have been if AR15 could've played yesterday

Tennessee does a Checkerboard the Stadium with Orange and White. UGA has done Black Outs. IMO We’ll probably start to see more of these planned/marketed color outs across the country.

I hope both those colleges lose like 10 straight can't stand either one. The PSU "fans" around here are as bad as the "I'm a Notre Dame fan because Im Irish" and the Cowboy fans who have never made a trip to Dallas but like Dallas because they hate the Eagles and the fans so much. The big 5 in Philly college all agree on one thing and thats hating PSU Especially Penn Alumni. My uncle went there and said he went to Penn and people thought on Penn State. No Ivy Leavy UPENN

Then you got the transplant OSU fans.

Unfortunately you are right but UGA doesn't marketed like PSU doesn't. PSU btw is only 9-8 during White Out games so not a huge advantage

If Florida plays like they did yesterday, at least when they were coming back, they’ll beat Tennessee.

Also, if WVU plays like they did in their first half against VT, they’ll probably beat Oklahoma. They haven’t looked particularly dominant, especially for a Top 4 team.

They have played OSU, Michigan, Alabama and Auburn under White Out conditions.  They ain't bringing this out for Rutgers or Northwestern.  Only the big boys get this treatment, so it's completely understandable that they'd be .500 in those games.

Won’t be long before you all pass my Buckeyes. They look completely lost on defense and the QB is suspect. Unless there is a miraculous turn around I expect at least three more losses.

I always laugh a bit at the rankings. Why hasn’t Oklahoma had the big fall that Clemson and OSU (well deserved) have had? They barely beat Tulane, who lost to Ole Miss by 40 this weekend and Nebraska, who lost to Illinois a team who’s 0-3 against UTSA, Virginia (by 28) and Maryland. Oklahoma has looked as bad as the other two but they lost to the #2 and #3 teams. Oklahoma has barely squeaked by two teams that aren’t close to being ranked. I think those close wins are way less impressive than one score losses to top 3 teams. I’m a Clemson fan for my son and it’s going to be a long season without Trevor but Oklahoma sure as heck doesn’t deserve the 4th ranking. It would be a shame if they got to the playoffs over more deserving teams right now. Their schedule looks pretty easy with only Iowa State and maybe Kansas State. Not really any better than the ACC.

Apparently blocking on an onsides kick is illegal, and now I know that it can be brought into evidence on a replay review.

To be clear, there was no flag for the illegal block, but illegal blocking was discovered while reviewing whether the ball travelled 10 yards.

Earlier in the game Memphis had two #4 players on a punt return TD (punishable by penalty) that went unenforced.

Queue Mike Leach.
Was the Memphis punt return never mentioned here?

Obviously we had multiple chances to put them away, but we got completely shafted a few times that game.

State punts it, player clearly (although quickly) downs it, nearest ref blows his whistle AND motions dead ball.  Our players start walking off their field, Memphis players walking on the field.  Memphis guys picks it up and runs it back.

I'm still baffled...and pissed.  It was never reviewed.

Did the ref blow the play dead? I thought the replay showed him getting ready to blow the whistle and then pulled it back out when the guy picked up the ball??

Has UGA done a Blackout game since 2008?

Reports are that the whistle was blown.  Either way I think the "Signal" overrides the audible whistle.
