Further than that for me. He is a decent analyst but pretty biased towards certain programs. Doesn't seem to be growing out of it as someone like Aikman has. He's also every freaking where.

Probably not the time to argue it, but: Herby is speaking from his own experience, with no NFL prospects.  Herby "loved" cfb because that was the extent of his football life.  If Aikman said the same thing I'd call foul.  Herby SHOULD try to put himself in the shoes of these first rounders, but he didn't.  I just give him more grace because he doesn't know that feeling.

He left his team enough time to sneak in to FG range if they held on 3rd.  Seemed like a smart decision to me.

To clarify, my Aikman comparison was about biases in the broadcast towards former teams (or teams his sons play for).

If Bama could have done something with that last possession and gone in up 10 then all the pressure is on UGA - Bennet would press more and Kirby would have to consider Daniels.  As it is, if Georgia can score on that first drive they are in good shape.

Probably why Aikman was in my head, but I wasn't really responding to your point (although friends of mine who are violently anti-Cowboys might disagree with you).  My point was more a presumptive number 1 pick in the nfl draft would be better able to put himself in the shoes of a player opting out thinking he will go round one in the draft.

On Herby...I think he does a great job of being unbiased when the Buckeyes are involved.  I think you are a South Carolina fan?  Might it be inferiority complex?  I don't ask in disrespect, but as an Oregon fan who would share with you the feeling "our" teams are consistently given short shrift in the national media deserved or not.  I just don't think Herby does that.

Only the greed of the NFL wanting to own the week 18 Saturday.  Not sure what ratings were for Philly/Dallas in a game that meant nothing and one team punted away, but NFL could do an earlier double-header and give the evening to CFB (and promote the crap out of the draft during that game) and probably break even.  And CFB fans would be happier and healthier.
