2021 Dallas Cowboys - SIZZLER Open for a limited time. SF @ DAL (3 Viewers)

Yes

I'm old enough to remember when Philly “stole” Goedert from us too. He’s been quite the stud
They really are the gift that keeps on giving.

2021

Goedert : 46 rec 524 yards 11.4 Ave 3 TDs

Dalton Shultz: 63 Rec 615 Yards 9.8 Ave 4 TDs

After hearing Kellen Moore's response to being asked how Ben McAdoo will help I feel much better. It sounds like he is just there to help Moore break down opposing defenses ahead of time and be a sounding board for ideas. We all can agree that McAdoo was a dope as a HC but so have a lot of good to great assistant coaches. Obviously he is here because he knows McCarthy but he has been a good AC in the past.

I think the Dan Quinn hire has been a home run. I think we got him at the right time and I think he is happy to just be a DC again.

Im excited for the second season in a row. Lets hope this season lasts longer than 4-1/2 games.

This guy is going to be the best thing to happen to D Laws career. Teams are going to have to account for his quick pass rush if Quinn can disguise pretty well. No more doubling Lawrence.
Im all for sending him in but disagree a little. I think its going to be Randy Gregory who teams will be worried about.

To think of where the NFLs stance on weed was and is going to in three years has been an egregious slap to the face of Randy (and many other players over the years). The NFL went from no weed ever - to no testing for weed and is headed to supporting weed, all within the time since Randy was drafted. Ridiculous.

I think we should try and sign him before the season starts. Its going to cost the Cowboys more than they can bear unless he gives back to us for supporting him all these years.

Ever year I try and not get excited and every year I still get hype. CANT WAIT for this season to start. After all the crap we've been through it just has to get better.

Do any of you listen to the Break, Talkin Cowboys, etc.?

Listen to both of them, good info 👍.

But they always hype up the expectations (or maybe that is just me).

Love Dave and Nick when it comes to info.

Love hearing Nate and sometimes Jesse - but Jesse has a lot of baggage. The host is likeable. I can do w/o the segments with his mom.

A lot of people give her crap but I actually enjoy Ambar's takes.

Not a fan of ...I cant find how to spell his name...Heckma? Whoever the dude yelling and screaming and laughing the entire podcast. Cant stand that dude. Seems like a nice guy but its too much.

Gerald Sensibaugh  - Really enjoy him explaining scheme but not much else.

Mickey I still love but he's always glass is half full. Occasionally he will hint at something he knows behind the scene that usually follows something bad but is often reassuring.

Not missing Brian Broaddus at all. I used to think he knew his stuff but his entire MO is to tell us all how bad he was at being a front office guy in both GB and Dallas and then proceed to give us hot takes that are wrong 99% of the time. Also - he's a bit creepy on social media. Won't be shocked to see him get in trouble down the line.

All in all, I like the format they had last year, I can listen to Hangin w/the boys and the break and avoid the other one like the plague.

lol, feel the same about a lot of it.

I've been listening for years and I cant take Mickey anymore, always crabby and seems to be confused why everyone doesn't just accept his opinions (other hosts and fans).  I avoid whatever show he is on.

Same on Broaddus, he comes off like he is the all knowing, that got old.

I don't know if its because he's a millennial, but Hellman bugs me with how he talks.  And when he says "ya'll", i have to fight to not turn it off. 😂

Haven't been listening much in the offseason, about to get back on in.

Starting offense, eleven personnel.

I think the defense is going to be far better than anyone can imagine. Top 10 defense two years ago, running a similar but more advanced system with two more drafts added to it.

You don't have the $70M man in there?  You think Keanu Neal starts over Jaylen Smith, because I don't.  Keanu might play passing downs... but, I don't see how you extend Jaylen with that contract to sit on the bench.

Quinn also didn’t bring Neal to Dal to let him sit either.

I see first downs as passing downs in this league. I don’t think Jaylon will be on the bench for long as I think he will be part of packages. I foresee Smith being used in short yardage and as a blitzing LBer.

Jaylon and Neal will both play plenty. I’m higher on Jaylon than most. I don’t think he should ever be used in coverage. You’re asking a lot from linebackers from the jump, now you want a guy who’s leg was all but severed at the knee to play coverage?

The Cowboys defense has been mishandled for years. Marinelli was running a vanilla 19th century version of the.Tampa 2. That works if you’re loaded at every position but that’s rare.

Last year- just throw that out of the window.

I think this year will be exciting. They won’t be the 85 bears but they will be markedly better in every area.

We need a backup QB. I liked what I saw from Gilbert last year but that seems to have been a one game thing. These guys have to be hurting the development of our receivers. They all hold the ball too long and just stare down their one read.

Agreed, and Aikman mentioned that the backup QB might not be on the roster.

What is the deal with Zuerlein?  been hearing he hasn't been seen kicking at camp yet either.

He had off-season back surgery.  He was on the PUP list...not sure if he still is or not.  In any case, they have to be playing it safe with him.

I love this woe is me topic title from the most valuable/popular NFL franchise in the game.

Like a Yankees fan complaining, “geez if only my team would spend a little money”.

Go check out the other team threads. They're all in double digits. We're averaging less than a page a month.

Also, we dont like the Dallas, Yankee ,Lakers, Duke, Notre Dame fans. They suck.

I'm not a Cowboys fan but if I were, I think this article would make me a little worried. A QB being shut down for arm soreness seems ... not good.

Am I reading too much into it?

The best I can tell is that he pulled a muscle while making a deep throw while using an awkward throwing motion/angle.

Im not worried yet. I think if it was something serious he would be seeking multiple opinions.

I thought I heard Dak was limping a little last week on his bad ankle.   Tried to find some info but can`t.

Anyone hear news on that?

I haven't seen or heard that and Im a daily listener to 4 different local Cowboys podcasts and watch several youtube channels.

I'm not saying it's not true but I just haven't heard anything until you typed it.

His ADP has slipped a bit. I’ll take the injury discount. I haven’t seen the Cowboys sign another QB, so imma assume he’s ok.

There was a “based on a hunch” statement by Adam Schefter that Dak’s shoulder “may not be at full health all season”, which I found to be somewhat irresponsible since it was not based on any direct communication with team or player.
https://www.bloggingtheboys.com/platform/amp/2021/8/21/22635456/adam-schefter-on-dak-prescott-hes-not-fully-back-he-may-not-be-back-all-season-long

This isn’t the 1st time Schefter has done something like this - I don’t know if he’s trying to get a scoop in case he’s eventually proved right or what, but from what I’ve seen regarding the shoulder it was a mild strain, and those typically heal well.  He didn’t separate it, it wasn’t an AC joint issue, no torn ligaments. So I don’t know what Schefter is basing his speciation on, but Rotoworld & others picked up the quote like it was gospel.

I hope Dak’s perceived value drops another round. He’s starting to feel like a bargain as the QB6-7 or whatever He’s at right now.

Same here, follow the local podcasts a lot and they directly contradict the limping reports.

Other analysts are echoing concerns.

Where there's smoke...

Color me concerned as well. Dragging out way too long for a ~3-week, day-to-day injury... starting to smell like Cam (last year in CAR) or even Luck the year of the slide into shutdown. Luck was throwing a little football around at practice too for a while.

Nothing in that article used the phrase "based on a hunch", that you quoted above.  That looks like your mistake, not Schefter's.

It sounds to me like you've got a beef with him based on some previous grievance, but I don't see any way that he says something as potentially damning as that without having a solid reason for it.

Actually no. The blurb on Rotoworld had a caveat at the end that it was “not based on any contact with the team & was more of a hunch”

I was repeating what they said. Take it up with Rotoworld if you have a problem with it.

You didn't link a Rotoworld blurb, though.  And how TF would Rotoworld know that?

I’m just telling you what I read.
I linked the Schefter piece & repeated what roto said.

I have no answers for your question but I assure you that’s how it went down.

How would I know he was speculating? Use your same logic to ask which is more likely - that I made it up or parroted them? Ease up on the accusations a little. I don’t make things up & post them here. Schefter has been caught speculating & calling it news before. I have not.

I can’t link to the Rotoworld blurb as I’m on my phone, but this one is still there:

”ESPN's Adam Schefter believes Dak Prescott (shoulder, ankle) isn't "fully back" and "may not be all season long."

This isn't a report, just Schefter's take on the Prescott situation. It's still notable, as Schefter suggests Prescott's injuries could keep him at less than 100 percent for most of the season. Prescott, whose second MRI showed improvement in his shoulder strain, was cleared to throw this week but has been limited in practice and will sit out Saturday's preseason game with the Texans. There are enough questions on Prescott and how healthy he is to shy away from his fifth-round ADP. Prescott told NFL.com's Gil Brandt he expects to be ready for Week 1.”

Just search Dak - it’s the 2nd or 3rd update down.

speculation. All of the subsequent reporting seems to be based on Schefter’s speculation. I can’t recall which other report said he hadn’t spoken to the team but it was one quoting Jerry Jones when asked about it.

I am not saying you made anything up, I said that you're flat-out wrong about the speculation. You used a quote from a place where it doesn't exist to make it appear that you were calling out a blurb from that article.

"based on a hunch" also doesn't appear in your quote above.  We all know that Rotoworld editorializes (badly) their news reports.  They have absolutely no way of verifying whether or not Schefter is speculating, or basing his comments on insider information that he cannot/will not divulge.  He's built an entire career out of these relationships and I'm going to accept his word as an informed observer rather than just throwing it out with the bathwater because he's made some other opinion in the past.

I seriously doubt that other pundits accept his reporting as gospel.  They are likely hearing similar information from their own sources.

Rotoworld literally said it was speculation. “This isn’t a report, it’s just Schefter’s take” is one hell of a caveat.

I seriously doubt that other pundits accept his reporting as gospel.  They are likely hearing similar information from their own sources.
If that were the case, then every one of them would have named their sources.

to date I haven’t seen one named source, or even a vague “according to team sources” or “according to someone close to the player” comment.

Reporters always default to at least that if they have anything credible.

I am invested in this only because I want to draft Dak. As such I am looking for credibility in reporting.

So far, Schefter (and others) have none that I can discern.

as a Dak owner in dynasty, I'm nervous and 100% concerned that he is not nearly to play. one sack, lands on that shoulder awkwardly, it's over. trade trade trade. we'll all have to contact the over the top cowboys' fan ( aren't they all over the top?) and offer dak as trade bait. get out from under the mortgage, so to speak.
