Which is exactly what he was drafted to be.  You are comparing him to Rodgers and Wentz (who went #2 overall).  It should not be surprising he's not as good as those guys. 

You are on record that you expect a 2nd round QB to be an MVP candidate and that's fine.  Most of us look at Hurts as a guy who was drafted to be a high end backup and so far has proven he is at least that with the potential to be a decent (not great) starter.

Yep. Based on what we've seen so far, he's looking at a Tyrod Taylor-type career. It's possible he could become more than that, but we only have 9 games to go on so far.

I'd rather get a franchise QB in here rather then get someone we have to rely on a defense for. Hurts is someone you draft when you already have the stout defense. It's why Lamar was a perfect fit for BAL at the time.

I think we all would rather get a franchise QB but it is going to come down to a cost-benefit decision.  The choice may be to either use the 3 #1 picks they hopefully have to get a franchise QB or stick with Hurts and draft 3 immediate starters at other positions.  It may come down to Watson and no 1st round picks or Hurts and impact picks at DE, LB and CB/S.  I think that's a tough call.

I guess Plan C is to use one of the picks on the best of a bad college QB class and the other 2 for defensive help. 

 
The big question is whether we take a qb in round 1 next year.  That win might have cost us one.  But Miami's disaster is really really good for us right now.

 
That was a fugly game. The defense still looks awful. Against a better team, they would have gotten blown out. Or even if CMC had been in for this game- CAR wins.

Biggest issue I saw was Siri's play calling and (again) stupid penalties.

Hurts is OK. I think his ceiling is just outside of top 10 QB, BUT he has to progress and let the game slow down. The game still looks too fast for him. Even when he makes the right read, the ball comes out a half second late. He has accuracy issues, especially on the long ball. And he had a couple short throws he put way too much on, that got dropped.

A lot can happen between now and April, including coaching changes, some college QB having a great season and being anointed "the next TB", and Hurts play going way up or way down. All I know is, we are not a good football team right now. And we need all 3 1st rounders next year on Defensive playmakers. Because the Defense is awful, and it's not just scheme.

 
Ugly game. Felt like 2018 where we had to heavy lift each win and the stress was awful. But hey a W is a W. 

Lane Johnson - something insane is going on in the background, just my feeling. 

Playcalling - terrible still, until we HAD to run the ball and wow, running actually works.

Hurts - I believe in him, he just needs time to grow and be coached. 

2022 Draft: Qb's look not so great, Dolphins/Colts picks do look great, for now.

Rooting schedule this week:

Ravens over Colts tonight

Jags over Dolphins Sunday

Eagles over Bucs Thursday (Duh)

Giants over Rams (won't happen, but need the Giants pick to be as high as possible)

Lions over Bengals (same as above)

I'm still in the 'let's give it the season' mode, so I dont think we should crucify anyone yet.  This performance wasn't great, though - we've had games where the offense did look decent.   At the end of the year, we'll have a full season to evaluate Siriani, Hurts, Gannon, etc.. 

Years of bad drafting really made us NEED to use these extra 1st rounders this year just to build a decent core. We are so lacking at quality young players.  Again still early, but my gut so far says that we've seen some growth from Hurts, and we need to fill in some of these huge gaps (especially at LB and DE).

We will have ammo to trade up for one if there is someone we really want. Or to go after a disgruntled veteran (Watson if he will come here, Rodgers, R. Wilson).

I have thought about this a lot, and to me the only one that really would make sense is Wilson, provided we send them Hurts. I don't see AR12 going anywhere thats not a plug/play scenario where they just need a good/competent QB. That ain't us. Sorta see the same about Russ but he is younger and might be more patient. Want no part of Watson and hoping he still wants no part of us.

I agree the headline took some liberties, but here's Sirianni's quote:

“We’re hopeful that Lane will be back this year,” Sirianni said. “Not going to go into any more than that, but we’re hopeful to have him back because we know how important Lane is to our football team.”

 
Hurts needs development.  I still have faith although the last game was very ugly until he used his legs in the 4th.  I keep rethinking how Josh Allen looked his rookie year.

It took three years for Allen to get it together.  Hurts almost has the equivalent of what Allen did in his rookie year, but even looking at that, his passer rating was slightly higher and his rushing yds slightly lower.  In the second year,  Allen progressed, and even in the smaller sample we have from Hurts, he also progressed, where he is still leading in the passer rating category.  Allen didn't really come on till his 3rd year, so I'll be honest I have hope for Hurts.  I like that he adds a better element to the game than a traditional pocket passer.  I say the jury is out, but the kid needs his shot.  There are going to be some f'ugly games, but the Bills had them with Allen too.

Don't forget Bears over Packers. For a little while it was looking like NY would have two top 10 picks.

 
We could be playing the Raiders next week not only on extra rest but maybe also in the midst of an abrupt coaching change at the rate these Gruden emails are progressing…

Allen had a great arm and had a few issues but he has a higher potential then Hurts and great QB Coach. I just don't Hurts anymore then what he is. Zero improvement from Freshman year with the tide till now is very concerning.

Our Alternator in our Tahoe is broken and our battery for the car died 1 1/2 hrs prior to high tide. To say my mom was pretty distraught last night during the whole thing is an understatement. I forgot I could unlock the car manually (Car auto locks when in drive) and couldn't get out to see what the guys were doing. A Cop who I guess works the beach at night drove up and saw my Uncle getting everything ready to tow us out. He apparently told them he's never seen a suburban (My Uncle's rental) nor a Tahoe get stuck down here so hitch it up and go as we were losing time with High Tide at 10PM. We got to the house safely though. 

We saw a Dead Sea Turtle and Porpoise on the way into town then drove around in the inner dunes and found a few wild horses. Car still isn't starting with the new alternator so we think the battery got shot last night. Gonna get a new battery tomorrow. If we can't figure it out might call Triple A and worse comes to worst we take a rental home. The thing though is my mom was expecting to get a new car in the next year or so and this might have advanced it faster though.

For those wondering got a new battery today and the Tahoe now works. Dad and I drove it around the properties saw a few Wild Horses and a ton of Horse #### (Jesus these horse go a lot!!!) and it worked well. Dash board didn't work but that was because we forgot to put the fuses we took out back in to try and conserve some volts in the battery life other night. SO far so good 

 
i know Hurts is catching crap again, and people are saying how ugly that game was, but if you ask me it was 10x better than the games last season.

Had a chance to win it twice and their kickers missed 2 FG’s. They had liken2-3 DB’s leave and it was curtains after that. Jackson moved the ball down the field at will after that. 

Wentz actually looked really good

It's good they lost. They're still (even at 1-4) going to be around .500 by the time they hit their bye week. They still get Jax and Houston twice, plus the Jets -  so no chance they're a top 10 pick. I just want them to miss the playoffs so our pick is in the early teens.

Did he?  Didnt watch much but the highlights seem so-so. I saw a classic fumble in the red zone...

They had 2 DBs get hurt and Blakenship the kicker had a hip issue missed 2 FGs and an XP. One was blocked FG though. After the secondary injuries BAL moved the ball down on them at will. Carson played really good. Still missed a few throws he should've made but got them down the Field after BAL tied it in great position to win it and the Kicker killed them

Do they have similar issues though? I remember the talk on Allen...he was RAW and would need some coaching, that many of his issues were fixable ones (mechanical flaws).

I did not and have not heard similar things about Hurts. ARE his issues fixable? Is his accuracy actually a footwork issue that can be fixed? Haven't heard that, so no reason to believe that.

He's a backup....rooting for him and sincerely hope I'm wrong....but he was drafted as a backup and he's playing like a backup

Lamar had 2 fumbles both called back since he was down but the one where Colts D scored was pretty close and they ruled it a forward pass that should've been called Intentional grounding

Dude...Lamar just hung 300+ and 4 TDs IN A HALF. And they weren't dumps and screens that just broke loose. He is worlds better as a passer then he was in year 1
