2021 Philadelphia Eagles - Queued up a playlist of our greatest zits throughout the season for final game (3 Viewers)

Bucs have only allowed 6 runs over 10 yards, through 5 games. This probably ain’t the game to run heavy, so be prepared for more screens and short passes to try and move the ball.
That's just what they'll be expecting. So Sanders and Gainwell will have 40 combined carries tonight.

Meanwhile, the Bucs have given up the most 20+ yard pass plays in the league.

Changing gears, I actually feel like todays game will be closer than people think. TB has a slew of injuries and I feel like we match up well with them IF we tackle well. I am curious to see how they use White on Hurts. If they match him up it’s all up to Hurts to use his arm. I can see us leading heading into the 4th before the Brady magic starts
I take it all back

So uh what college QBs looking good this year again? 😂

Not many there's a bunch of people in on Liberty Malik Willis but he looks like another athletic QB with a big arm and not much pocket presence. Spencer Rattler has fallen off a cliff. I liked of what little I saw of Sam Howell who has a love/hate relationship with scouts. Daniel Jermiah thinks he could be a Baker Mayfield some say he's a poor mans Baker. Matt Corral looks like the new #1 guy. I haven't seen much of him from Ole Miss yet. QB prospects in this draft are underwhelming.

This Eagles offense is one of the worst in recent history.  This coach won’t be around long.
HOnestly believe there is plenty of talent on the offensive side.....after the QB. Wrs are better and deeper then we've had in years. Sanders/Gainwell is a solid 1-2. Good at TE, decent on the O line. Better scheme and a better QB they could make a ton of noise.

Defense OTOH......

Hard pass.

Right now it doesn't even sound like either guy will be here next year at the moment

Those three first rounders, if we get three,  will be a good start but man we need way more than that on d plus new coaches.  These young guys blow

I think I see the plan now. Eagles get 3 firsts next year. Hurts is QB all of this year and all of next. He's not good but he's not awful. He keeps you in games. More importantly, he's cheap. Maybe he grows a bit but that's not really important to the plan.

Next is the coaching staff. All young, no experience. Built to lose and again,Cheap. Maybe they squeak out 6-7 wins each year. Keeps the draft pick high for the next 2 years.

Howie deals off Cox, Slay, Sanders, Goedert, Ertz, for anything of value next off season. Drafts the 3 best DL and OL prospects he can on the board with the firsts and uses the rest to build back the depth.

2023 rolls around, Hurts either takes the backup roll or gets moved for a pick. Coaching staff is fired for a more experienced one. We draft a rookie QB with a better, younger defense established. Sprinkle in some young Free agents with good contracts with the now recouped Carson cap space and build from there.

Going to be rough in 21 and 22 but 23 and beyond can open the next title run if done right.

Not a huge Philly fan but I don't think this team needs a full blown rebuild. They can stay in games. I'm more invested in hurts fantasy and yeah it's awful lol

Idk why they don't run the ball. Punish that front four and it gives hurts more time to pass the ball. TB is DEPLETED Beyond their front four yet the offense never even tried to beat them up. Sanders had some good runs.

Anyways, yeah, the defense needs an elite pass rusher. Slay looks good still and some other pieces. I'm surprised with how the defense is playing in spite of this dip#### coach

It's the world Champs and brady. No shame in losing to that

We gotta lot of work to do

It's way more then that

All of these.

People won’t admit it, but we are in one right now. This is the rebuild.

I am not an Eagles fan, but as a Bears fan the Sirianni experience seems a lot like the Matt Nagy experience.

It seems like some of these first-time head coaches have the idea that the NFL is a passing league so ingrained in their head that they can't fathom anything else beyond constant downfield throws.  Essentially, there's no watching what's actually happening on the field or game-planning around the defense's approach.  It's the scheme, and it's the scheme.  There's nothing else.

I can’t speak for the Bears but the All-22 is gonna be a disaster for Hurts when it comes out. I understand it’s unreasonable to expect him to complete all of them but he was downright awful tonight.

With that said, there’s no reason to just dismiss Sanders the way he does. It makes no sense at all especially when you have a QB who appears to be off his game.

No doubt Hurts has been bad, but I'm trying to think of another example of a rookie (essentially) QB who is told "It's all on you" and there will be no support from the run game. It's a novel idea, if nothing else.

I completely agree and the answer to your question is Carson Wentz when he had Doug here.

Biggest issue with Hurts outside of coaches not using his skill set properly are his intangibles. He lacks so many key ones it seems which will keep him in that 20-25’ish range of good QB’s. He doesn’t have the arm strength, which is ok to an extent, however, he compounds it with poor accuracy, poor pocket presence and he can’t make it to his second reads at all. These are things that are not usually improved upon at this level. Not to say it can’t be done, but it’s rare.

The lack of experienced coaching and overall talent is evident as well, especially when we face the good teams. But I believe it’s more talent related than coaching at the moment. Scheme aside, our DL blew. There’s no other way to say it. They can’t be the unit on that side of the ball that gets their ### whipped and they did tonight. The LBers all stink. Someone mentioned Singelton and his tackles earlier. What that doesn’t show is that he rarely wins at the point of contact. There were SO MANY plays where contact is at the 4-5 yard mark and he’s driven back another 3-4-5 yards. Than you watch a guy like White for TB and he looks like an absolute animal out there play after play throwing guys around. Brandon Graham after the game even said (im paraphrasing) that Gannon doesn’t have much to work with so there’s not much to he can do and I think that’s a majority of it. Look at the play near the end of the game with Epps. He doesn’t even turn around and if he does that looks like it could have been a pick.

The cap should be in good shape next year. We need to add a few decent FA’s and nail the draft. If that can be done, we can get into that 8-9 win range as soon as next year IMO.

A competent QB gets them into the 8 win area THIS year. There are serious issues on the defense but the offense HAS WEAPONS, and the O line is OK. The schedule isn't that tough going forward.

It was simply brutal watching Hurts fail to spot one open player after another, never going to his second read unless it was while scrambling, and often misfiring when players were open. The coaching is lousy.....the under use of Sanders is absurd...but the QB play is every bit as bad as the play calling.

Alex Singleton 67 Total tackles through 6 weeks. He's on pace for another 100+ TKLs season

He also probably leads the team, and is near the top of the league, in missed tackles. And I'd bet at least half of his tackles involved positive yards-after-contact.

Yeah, he's a got a motor and is always around the ball, but he's not a good LB.

Seems like every valid criticism of this team boils down to things we can't do right or get out of our own way. I miss the days of going toe-to-toe with another team, each of us bringing our best, and just being outplayed or beaten. Much easier than the constant mistakes, dumb decisions, poor game plans, self-inflicted wounds, etc. that are the biggest contributors to our losses.

Last night:

  • FG attempt down 2 scores in the 4th that, even if the FG was good, you're still down 2 scores
  • Hurts sliding down for a sack and loss of yards instead of throwing it away
  • The Avery taunting penalty
  • Calling a play on goal-to-go 18 inches from the goal line that puts Hurts in shotgun at the 5
  • Hurts going out of bounds to stop the clock on 3rd down when he was way short of the 1st and saved TB a timeout
  • Slow developing WR screen that is 3 yards behind the LOS right in the middle of a drive where everything was working going up the field

This exactly. I'm already about to check out on this team. I can handle getting beaten due to lack of talent, but not when it's mainly due to incompetence. These coaches are awful and very slow to adapt to either game situations or personnel. Obviously not a winning combination. If this is a Sixers type "process" like theorized above, they can do it without me.

"Trust the Process"

It's like they were just waiting for him to catch a Td and make him tradable.

Not sure what I think of the move. If goedert isn't back next week, te will be rough.
Given his reaction at the end of the game I think he knew. Since we played Thursday and were without Goedert we probably needed him and couldn’t make it official until after the game.

Yeah at the same time you risk Ertz getting hurt. Sounds like they got a lot of faith in Jackson when he comes off IR

Exactly how we figured it would play out. 5th and a player ain't bad at this point.

I have to assume this was the best offer.  Eagles aren't winning any Super Bowls this year so makes sense to stock up on picks, regardless of if they have any tight ends next week.  Has Gowan even played a down this year?

Probably could've traded him sooner but my source at the time said Howie was asking too much. They were asking for a 5th and didn't get it. ARZ is somewhat desperate losing Maxx "That's 2 X's not one" Williams at TE for the season. Buff has D Knox emerging this year so they were out of the picture unless they wanted a TE2.

Honestly got to give Howie some credit here because they got what they wanted in a 5th and a young player from this years draft

Gowan opted out of last season because he ended up with COVID prior to the season. I found this from Revenge of the Birds who thought they got a steal. Seen a few Byron Maxwell comparisons. 6th rounder in the draft.

Tay Gowan could be a steal in the draft

I mean - we all knew the defensive talent was bad. We doubled down on older vets too long, so this is the painful rebuild.

Kind of why I dont want them to use all these high picks next year to trade for a QB.  We need young good players, and assume we'll miss on at least one of them.  Get the best LB we can, has to be a priority.  Get a great young safety. Get a CB. We need to replenish this team - and yea, we're gonna suck probably next year too.  Is what it is. If we are 100% that Hurts can't be the starter, then go get a half-decent vet. Or MAYBE use one of the firsts on a QB, but under no circumstances use them all.
