2021 Philadelphia Eagles - Queued up a playlist of our greatest zits throughout the season for final game (3 Viewers)

Only saw about half the game as I worked last couple of nights and was still more then a little tired. Watched the whole first half and saw the Hurts that so frustrated me the first 6 or 7 weeks. Off target throws and poor decisions. Seemed like too many pass attempts but they were also off schedule a lot. That last play of the first half was a perfect summary of Hurts' play. EVERYONE knew he was to throw it away if nothing was there. He wasn't even in the pocket at the end. AWFUL decision to even try to force it, and a game changer with the defence doing it's part!

Woke up to see the last 5 or 6 plays of the game...WTF Raegor?! SOunds like Jalen was better in the second half and the WR's, especially Raegor let them down?

Was worried we were due for a let down game and I suppose this qualifies. Always amazes me how an NFL team can curb stomp one decent team on the road then lose to a mediocre to bad team within just a week or two

He wasn’t better really at all. The last drive he was on though. Put 2 balls (1 definitely was a TD IIRC) right on Reagor and he dropped them both. Neither would have been considered a tough catch at all. The last one was an absolute layup and he dropped it. You’ll hear it was like JJAW or Agholor and frankly, neither of them had drops this poor. It was BAD. Like very, very BAD.

i only saw parts too, but did see quite a few drops. Jalen looked good in the spots i was watching, or at least fine enough. didn't look like "deer in headlights" or panicky in the pocket

no doubt the drop was brutal, but this one seems to sting me more:

I'm so disappointed, I really hoped with Devonta Smith that Reagor would feed off him and improve to at least be serviceable.  This is bad.

And no question that Hurts has to be able to pass more consistently if he wants to be the starter here long term.  There's still not likely to be any better option for next year, so hopefully he can figure out some way to improve there.

I'm just mad it looked like we had turned a corner but we have reverted back into a turd.  I guess it's really not that surprising

Its the league now. Youre not as bad as your worst game and not as good as your best. These teams all suck and never before was it so predicated on scheme and officiating. Keeping these dudes motivated is also not easy.

I'm not surprised by the result only because I expected it to happen soon. I'm just more made at the mistakes especially Hurts 2 1st half INTs are both mistakes High School QBs know better. He also had Sanders open on the flat in the first one. 2nd one is just inexcusable. Just get rid of the ball and take the 3 pts. Both those possessions could've at least netted us 3 pts with how well Elliot has done this year. I can live with a dropped pass here and there or stuff like get them next time. I can live with the gun slinger mentality of Favre/Stafford and Even Wentz at times because that's just who they are and more times then not it works. But stuff you learn in HS and do in the pros is just inexcusable to me and quite frankly if I were coaching no matter the sport for player they'd be sitting on the bench for most of the rest of the game. I know some of us including myself hate Bill Bilchiek but I give him credit for having the balls to bench any player who makes dumb football mistakes they know better on.

Also not even sure why they went EZ on the last play when they needed a 1st and had plenty of time to get the first and clock it and run a few more plays. That is just bad overall football awareness on a lot of people. Also your top draft pick playmaker 4 targets all game is reprehensible at best. Get him the ball. Reverse, Screens, short passes etc.

Hi guys. I've enjoyed reading the board since discovering it earlier in the year. Decided to sign up so I can post.

I've been admittedly flip-floppy on Hurts as our franchise QB.  He shows signs that he could be an effective weapon as an NFL quarterback but then he seems to regress.

Pros: His ability to run makes him a nightmare to game plan against. Such an awesome weapon to have in the arsenal. He seems to have the right disposition. Stays calm in pressure situations. Doesn't fold during crunch time. I've never seen him point fingers at his teammates either.  Sign of a good leader.

Cons: Silly amateurish mistakes. Not even 'rookie' mistakes. Just dumb football plays. Mistakes high school QBs wouldn't make.  I also know he's only had about 16 career starts, but I'm not sure I see improvement. Showed flashes at the end of last season then looked like rookie in his first game.  Have seen flashes this season then periods where he seems like a rookie in his first game again. Starting to wonder if what we see is what we get.

Haven't done enough research on the college level to know if there are any special QB talents entering the draft, but if there are, Philly will never be in a stronger position to move up and grab one of them. Three first round picks give you a lot of draft capital. Like the Philly front office, all eyes are going to be on Hurts for these last few games. It would be awesome to realize we already have our guy and can use those picks to solidify the roster.

there arent any qbs in the coming draft that are worth a high pick imo

Yea despite the absolutely awful game he had, I still expect Hurts to be the QB through all of next year.
As he should be.  He needs help with decision making/reading defenses pre snap and working on his accuracy.  These are thing that can be taught as opposed to athleticism.  He can obviously win games and if you clean up the above stuff and make some impactful moves on draft day, targeting BPA on defense for at least 2/3s of the first round picks, then we’ll be right in the mix for the next 4-5 years

I do as well. The only ways I can see him not being the starter would be if we can get a Wilson/Rodgers/Watson for a single first round pick. Or if one of the QB’s they like in the draft slips to a spot where they can’t pass him up. Neither seem likely

My only issue is that these are things that normally don’t improve much at this level. The way we’ve seen him used this year is how he has to be used. He’s a better runner than he is a passer and I don’t believe that will change much moving forward. With that said, attack the D in the draft. Get a couple big FA’s and he’s still good enough to get 9-10 wins next season with an improved team.

I, fantasy genius, picked up Elliott in a "soft matchup" to take advantage of "riding the hot hand" that has been the Eagles offense. The 3rd and goal picks were less than ideal. 1 point. The kicker I dropped had 9, and I'm in a close game that'll be decided tonight.

Hurts is a disaster.

Greetings Iggle fans,

Picked up Eagles D the other week for their week 13 matchup with NYJ. After yesterday’s showing having 2nd thoughts. Wtf happened there?

Was the mighty Jordan Howard the linch pin holding the run game together?

I'm just mad it looked like we had turned a corner but we have reverted back into a turd.  I guess it's really not that surprising
It’s to be expected when you see how young we are IMO.

Youngest teams on offense (snaps played 25 and under)

1. Steelers- 73.9%
2. Eagles- 66.1%
3. Lions- 57.7%
4. Bengals- 53.3%
5. Panthers- 51.9%
6. Bears- 51.7%
7. Dolphins- 51.4%
8. Cowboys- 51.2%
9. Ravens- 50.1%
10. Raiders- 46.2%

NFL Avg- 41.6%

as noted several times on this current page, if nothing else I think Hurts has earned his start for next year. And Sirianni earned some leeway over the last couple of games. this game showed a bit more of what we knew prior to our last few weeks run, that one, Sirianni and the young staff has a ways to go in learning how to game plan week to week, this was terrible showing, and two, hurts has a ways to go in adjusting his own play in tough grind it out games like this. his first half play was one bad decision after another.

it looked like both of these things got corrected at the start of second half. we'll need more of it, but if the young staff and the young players can gel together in those respects, then i'm very optimistic for this group next year and beyond.

one thing i didn't see mentioned was having Kelce out of the game in the second quarter killed us. the two herbig penalties easily accounts for 60-70 yards and at least one score. and both penalties were boneheaded moves where the plays would likely have gone on fine without his holding. i still think that first one, where he pancaked his guy, was a bs call. but them are the rules.

We've obviously been following the Eagles draft position but if the season ended today the Jets would pick 4 and 5, the Giants 6 and 7 and the Eagles 9, 10 and 14.  Things will change but it would be fascinating to have 3 teams control 6 of the top 10 picks.

That game was just brutal, against a weak opponent. I’m really disappointed, in this order, with:

1. playcalling. Siri really called a bad game. They looked like the same hapless team from the first 7 weeks.

2. Reagor- bust. Enough said. So disappointing, since we could’ve had Jefferson.

3. Hurts- historically bad game against the 26th ranked pass D in the league. He looked absolutely lost. His reads took too long, he stared down his WRs and made horrible decisions. And they still should’ve won the game.

Hopefully, this stops all the playoff talk.

I'm not opposed to using ONE of our 3 picks on a QB is one is there we like, to have some competition.  Would like the other two picks on defense.  We need a veteran, reliable WR to pair across from Smith (not another rookie).

Hurts absolutely can be the QB next year - at least to start.  There have been successful QB's that have had similar starts.  But he can't have these similar struggles next year - I don't think almost any successful modern QB has struggled passing in their first two years without showing decent improvement. (Yes this is technically year two but willing to throw a mulligan on whatever last year was).

But regardless, next year is really the make or break year.  He'll have another full offseason, another year in the same offense. No excuse to not have improvement.

I'm out on that one.  I don't think there are any QBs worthwhile, but I'm not keyed into the college QB scene.  Go after Defense, Defense, Oline in the first three 1st round picks.  Maybe trade Miles for a pick.  This offense can work with Jalen at the helm, it just needs to be designed around his strengths.  This offense, as constructed, with a better defense will make the Eagles a competetive team for the next half a decade.

Sirianni shouldn’t even make a top 10 for the game yesterday in my opinion. Between the penalties, turnovers, awful QB play, Kelce injury and drops I can’t see how any of this falls in him. We ran the ball great again and even with our QB having like 70 yards passing and 3 picks heading into the 4th we still had a chance to win the game

Yea, Sirianni was fine.  You have to be able to pass to win sometimes. The "Why didn't we run it 75% of the time OMG" is foolish.  If the defense is stacking the run, you need to be able to pass.

But again, this was a 4 win team.  We all knew we aren't there yet. It's disappointing some of these young guys aren't working out, but we need to know that so we can improve next year when we have all these picks.

Jack Driscoll has a high ankle sprain. He's headed to IR. Nick Sirianni says the team won't have any updates on Brandon Brooks until after the bye week.

Davante stretching the field with DeVonta working all over the middle would be DaFabulous. Not a fan of Robinson from a fit perspective, not sure Godwin's skillset fits with this group either without further changes, so Moore or Adams ftw imo. I'm just not sold on Ridley at the price point he'd command.

The veteran presence would go a long way too, so going after one of those receivers seem like a great idea.

Ridley's a hard pass for me.

I disagree. The play calling was too cute, especially in the first half. They went back to the stupid RPOs and looked terrible.

We had 4 possessions in the first half. Punted twice and should have had 2 TD’s but Hurts was picked off. I have no clue how that can be Sirianni’s fault cause he used a couple RPO’s or plays that didn’t work.

Jalen Hurts after 16 starts

The graphic is comparing QB’s with 500+ rush yards but wanted to pass along his overall stats after 16 starts. This is a pretty good snap shot of what I believe he is at this level. Not sure how everyone else feels about it though.

Hurts is difficult to judge going forward.    Without his running threat he would be out of the league fast, but he is a very good runner.

Will Hurts ever be a 60-65% passer.   It does not look like he will.

Fantasy wise Hurts is still a solid play.  As far as getting Philly to the next level I don`t think so.  But Hurts is fun to watch and if you are going to lose at least be entertaining.  I would take him on the Lions in a second and be happy to have an 8-8 ceiling.

If you are talking about wide receiver free agents next year, Chris Godwin without a doubt fits the Eagles the best. Can play inside and outside would be a great weapon for that offense. Devonta Godwin and Goedert would be a really nice trio of pass catchers.

I really don't understand why people feel the need to be so judgemental and act like this year was not an evaluation and growing year for the team.

a couple of catches and no one is talking about Hurts sucking. Kelce stays healthy and no one is cheering because Hurts threw another INT.

i just don't get why people get so gleeful out of seeing others fail

I'm not gleeful the guy failed yesterday. I guess I look at QBs differently than the others. After the last few weeks I heard a lot of playoff team and 12-5 talk etc. I just don't think they are. they still have a lot of work to do. Yes this year is all about evaluations but Hurts mistakes yesterday are High School stuff he really should know better.  The last play of the half he had where he threw the pick was a bench able offense on my HS team. You don't want mistakes repeated especially those but he keeps repeating them.

On the contrary I'm upset they lost a game they should've won the defense played well.

And I don't get how people in a 3 week span can get so excited thinking because of some good play they are automatically THE GUY and getting upset when others opinions differentriant because their hate of the guy who left is so strong they want to be so right about the guy replacing. I mean I literally read a guy arguing on reddit that the QB can't be evaluated yet till we fix all the other holes on the roster. Uh what? I another social media post didn't take me long to find the person blaming the officiating for the game. Didn't take long

Yes receivers should've caught a few balls and if Kelce stays healthy but if and or butts don't win games. Yesterdays game is a perfect example of what myself and others have said about Hurts future. He is gonna win you a couple of games you shouldn't but he'll probably lose you a lot more games that you should've won and lost. Perfect example of how Hurts needs everything to go his way to succeed in a game. When it's not all there he struggles

You know what also concerned me? I went and watched the Colts/TB game and saw our former QB carving up the Same TB defense that Hurts barely managed a150Yds passing on almost with ease and had 3 TD passes before Jonathan Taylor got going. Hurts has struggled big time since entering the league with defenses. If that doesn't change soon and if he can't adapt he's not going to be a starting QB in this league very long. Yes the former had 2 picks one was the final play of the game the 2nd was on a deep ball that Pittman really should've contended for and just watched Winfield Jr grab. However he threw for over 300 yds and 3 scores and the Colts led most of the game. The problem for Hurts yesterday and the TB game? Both defenses are Zone teams.

I think JuJu would be a great fit Here, Dj CHark is another one. I like Robby Anderson and I feel he's a victim of poor QB play. The rest will be overpriced or overpaid especially Allen Robinson. Really talented guy but he's gonna get more then what he's worth and I feel he could be similar to Jeffrey. Good target guy but I think he's gonna start breaking down and he's entering FA 1 yrs older then him.

DJ Moore would be cool but I fear he'll be a guy overpaid and wouldn't be used right

The QBs are interesting this year. I think this QB class could be similar to the Mahomes draft where people weren't sold on the top guy.

Malik Willis seems like the media/prospect darling because of his highlight making athleticism so we need to stay far from that. He's a similar Jackson/Vick type and I'm tired of having that type.

Matt Corral of Ole Miss has dropped off but very consistent. I wouldn't be jumping up and down on him but I also wouldn't hate the pick

Kenny Pickett has been solid at Pitt. Quietly having a very good year could be similar to Joe Burrow. Dude has good ball placement and he moves well in the pocket and on the run. He is a tough runner if needed, he'll make one or 2 throws a game where you scratch your head but that can be worked out at the next level. He's incredible accurate with ball placement. His arm is Similar to Carr in Oak

Sam Howell was a early favorite. Daniel Jermiah said he reminds him of Baker Mayfield. Not horrible but not great either. Some advance scouts have Howell as a day 3 pick. Howell I love the most is he throws a great high point pass so I think he'd be great learning for a year and taking over on a team with big WRs and TEs. His size reminds of Wentz/Big Ben though.

Carson Strong out of Nevada I've yet to really see. Scouts think he's a good NFL back up but then others think he could be better then that. 2 NFL directors one website Walterfootball talked to both said he could be a day 1 pick.

Again not a prospect here that is jumping up and down for. However would it shock me if one of these guys becomes the next Mahomes either? Absolutely not. The trick is figuring out which one that maybe. Would I take one of these guys with the first or 2nd 1st rounder? Depending what happens with that pick (Guy not there trade back or whatever) I wouldn't but if a guy fell and is there with the 3rd 1st rounder I would nab him depending on who It is. It just depends how the Eagles feel about this draft, if they have the same feelings on Hurts as they did back in January or they changed or if they feel Hurts is good enough to wait another for a QB.  It just sucks that we finally have 3 1st rounders in 1 draft and the QB class is so so.

I hate these comparisons especially when they throw Lamar in there. Jackson didn't start a game If I'm not mistake till after Flacco left. He may have had 1 start his rookie year. Hurts had 4 starts his rookie year. So yes in X amount of games Hurts has X amount more of this then Lamar no really? Hurts had more snaps.

The only comparison I've seen from Hurts is Russel Wilson and honestly that should be the only graphic. Also football is a game you can't go based off of just numbers. You got to actually watch the game. I've explained this at length before but TTLR version is this. Aaron Rodgers you look GB won 35-14. Rodgers threw for 250 2TDs Rushed for another and threw 3 picks. You'd say Rodgers had an average game. However Rodgers had a shorten field most of the game so his passing Numbers aren't gonna look as good. Also Aaron Jones rushed for 120 yds and 1TD and AJ Dillion rushed for another 63 and a TD himself. Rodgers 2 INTs. One was the end of the first half on a Hail Mary (wish these INTs would be categorized differently or some advanced stat type thing). The other INT? Came when Rodgers was hit as he threw it because the LT missed his block and a guy came free so the throw went somewhere else. Now if you watched the Game you'd say Rodgers wasn't perfect but a lot of things went his way and stats don't tell the whole story.

This is similar to Hurts whos had quite a few games where his stats have looked much better at the end of games then it did entering the 4th QTR based on Garbage time results. This is why I hate these stat comparisons because you literally of had to have watched every game these guys were in. They are a fun debate topic for fans and analyst to use but they never tell the whole story

Jalen Hurts hurt his ankle in the game yesterday. Sirianni said they will evaluate Hurts during the week if he can't go its the Manchew Show on Sunday vs the J E T S JETS JETS JETS

Fantasy wise Hurts is still a solid play.  As far as getting Philly to the next level I don`t think so.  But Hurts is fun to watch and if you are going to lose at least be entertaining.  I would take him on the Lions in a second and be happy to have an 8-8 ceiling.

Also I forgot to mention this part. Yes fantasy wise he is cool but I think thats where a lot of people get confused. Mixing fantasy with reality. Also to me he's not really exciting More frustrating then anything. Holds onto the ball too long, makes a ton of High School type mistakes, relies too much on athletic ability, misses a lot of throws NFL QBs should make that are easy for most starters and he tries to do too much at once. I had my fill years ago. To this this day no one can tell me there was no more exciting QB to watch athletic ability than Randall Cunningham. All the rest are just frauds pretending to be something they aren't. But then again I was a kid then. I'm an adult and I want a Rodgers/Brady now. To me people are like oh did you see what Vick did in that game or Lamar? How cool was that? It was ok I saw Randall do that 20 yrs ago. It was more exciting when it happened then.

Mahomes is fun to watch but it drives me crazy how bad he is mechanics and makes passes he really has no business completing with stuff coaches tell you not to do. Now because of that I'm seeing these kids try and be Mahomes and not work on proper mechanics. Just because it worked for Mahomes doesn't mean it will for you. Talking to a lot of HS coaches in my area and this is a huge pet peeve of theirs and frustrating. Now at an older age understanding the game way more then I did when watching Cunningham these guys frustrate me more then anything. It does frustrate me most the lack of respect Cunningham gets. Last night was shocked when the NBC team was gobbling up Lamar they even mentioned him. Most times many act like he never existed. Yeah I saw Lamar and Vick before they were pros. Dudes name was Randall Cunningham. Without him these guys don't exist. Since Randall left teams are still trying to find their Randall. Problem is these guys aren't winning Super Bowl without a stout defense and run game. Only have so many yrs before they decline or found out because they don't know how to be pocket passers at all. So really if you are gonna draft these guys should be done later and by teams with a win now mentality who have those things on the team. Its why when he was picked at the time Lamar was perfect for the Ravens. These are the guys you don't sign to huge deals

This isn't me saying Hurts is Vick/Jackson. He's more of a McNabb/Wilson but I don't think he's ever gonna be anywhere close to as good as ether of those guys were.

Both defenses are Zone teams.
let me parce this out:

1 and 2. i think first bolded is all WIP callers. the team was getting exciting to watch, but i don't think most felt they were more than a fringe playoff team. they could have lost the last 3, and i would still say the team is more enjoyable to watch this year than last. maybe i am still damaged from last year's team. i still think he deserves to start the rest of the way and should get a fair shot at the starting job next year.

i think biggest response i have for those doubting Hurts is what do you expect the Eagles to do. calling for Menshew is a little silly, do we really think Menshew can be the QB for the next 3 years? if there was an obvious choice or someone on the bench waiting, then maybe they could bench Hurts. but let him play it out and enjoy the more visually enjoyable games this year i say.

3. i think the other factors in the game were significant. do you give Hurts any credit for the wins this year? i think he has done well at points, and i do think some of the faults from yesterday do need to fall on the strange change in play calling. i haven't caught up too much, but really am curious to know why they didn't try running more earlier on.

4. i don't listen to WIP or any of the sports media much anymore, but if anybody is suggesting the 4th point bolded i think it is nuts. There was just no way Wentz could have panned out here after last year. i don't know all that went into it, and it really is fascinating to think about, but i think we need to just let Wentz go. i am glad i have, and since i cut ties, i can say i am actually happy for the kid that he is doing well and bouncing back. a few months ago it would have been more of angst with the kid, but feels good to just agree both sides moved on, and both seem to be better for it
