2022-23 NBA Thread: “you’ll never let me down like the Heat did”, Miami fan says to giant pile of cocaine (3 Viewers)

I’ve heard people raving about the four years left on his contract like that is the most valuable commodity in league history. The Nets on the same contract had him signed for five years and got one season out of it. There is no guarantee that KD’s new team will have him for four years. He could demand a trade again this time next year if things don’t go according to plan.
Or he could refuse to report and demand another trade immediately.

I mean obviously the Nets will work with him, but the idea Ayton and picks or something similar is going to get it done is wrong imo. Durant isn’t going to sit out - likes bball too much and cares too much about his legacy. Would love to see someone call his bluff.

I don’t understand why the Celtics, Bulls and Wolves are all willing to pay decent money to Gallo. The guy can barely move anymore.

DeAndre Jordan??? Really?

I guess the owners blew all their  $$ on the Av's and Rams so they decided to cheap out this NBA FA season.

  Richard Jefferson is legit upset at Kendrick Perkins on ESPN set. It's been 10+ minutes since their initial confrontation and he's still pissed.

You can tell the others on the set are uncomfortable with it

Per Bobby Marks on Twitter:

Here is the list of players that were signed to the Designated Rookie Extension.

Can only have 1 player acquired in a trade

A.Wiggins
B. Simmons
J. Embiid
D. Booker
KAT
J. Murray
D. Mitchell
D. Fox
Ja. Tatum
B. Adebayo
Tr. Young
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander
L.Doncic
M.Porter, Jr.

Per Yo Mama: I think that list would include Zion if he signs his extension as expected.

All of these are guys the Nets cannot acquire if they still have Simmons. Oof.

I don't know whose "fault" this KD thing is, but I suspect today will mark the beginning of the end of the Super Team era that started with The Decision. The Heat made the "Get a few big stars and then fill out the roster with role players" model work and lots of people copied it. In GS it worked for a couple years, too, but then the egos blew it up. Lakers the last few years had a mixed record -- got them one title, but now seems to have hamstrung the roster for the foreseeable future. Nets was a total disaster.

I bet the next time a superstar tries to dictate a team's roster they will tell him to go pound sand.

It won't be the end at all. Making a super team still has higher odds of winning a title then not making a super team, but it doesn't guarantee it.

Super team era didn't start with Lebron and the decision, it started a few years earlier with the Celtics with Ray Allen, and KG going to Boston to team up with Pierce.

I would bet the next time a superstar like Lebron, KD or whoever tells their team to go get player x or y or they will demand a trade that team is going to go get those players.

I like the Bagley signing. Wish the 3rd year was an option, but in 18 games after the trade, Bagley averaged 14.6 points and 6.8 rebounds on 55.5% shooting

Bagley was a RFA.  I'm surprised Detroit didn't let the market play out for him.  I can't imagine there were a lot of bidders for a non-stretch, non-defending PF.

You are probably right, but Troy Weaver has done a great job so far and I am willing to give him benefit of the doubt for now.

Meh. There are nuances to it. Group of aging stars who tried for years in their prime on their own vs guys who gave up trying on their own at their peak.

I think in the modern era, super team is more associated with guys in their prime teaming up. Which is why most people are more quick to point their finger at those Miami teams than Boston.

I was gone all afternoon so I'm only getting here now. But I'll take on anybody in here:

Kyrie is a legend.

Challenge goes to anyone reading this...

Name a single more destructive internal force in the history of sports than Kyrie. Any sport, any era.

Go.

Did I just miss it, or did we not talk about the most important signing of the day, Bobby back to the Bucks for 4/$49M??

Doesn’t shoot, defend, pass, or play with his right hand, but otherwise he’s great.

Terrell Owens comes to mind but the dude left it all on the field and played through horrendous pain.

I'd say big gap between Kyrie and whoever second place is.
