:lmao:   :lmao:  makes me laugh every time I see it
i find the Wall buyout far more hilarious. when was the last time he had a meaningful minute on a basketball court? doesnt it seem like a decade ago he began this whole "the ultimate value is not having to play to make your dough" trend in the world's most wonderful & stoopit sport? didnt he announce that he wasnt even going to try to rehab his injury one year? could he possibly have invented the word "languish"?

and now, after getting $44M to luxuriate last season, he probably knocked his price all the way down to $40M, to go to Hollywood and join the other prize practitioner of "waiting for the inspiration", Kawhi Leonard, and spend another billionaire's money to be, if not do, wonderful.

Kudos to Nets brass for playing hardball - they get one more year to make a run and see what happens.   They will be in a much better position in a year to decide whether to tear it down or not.

Yeah, I think they'd actually improve without Kyrie but was hopeful it would trigger a Durant departure.   Durant in Portland sounded fun   :kicksrock:
You misspelled "delusional".

Portland doesn't get to have nice things.*  It's rule V.1 of the City Bylaws.

*Except Dame.  He's been very nice.  But I expect he'll be traded before the deadline.

And those of us awaiting Kyrie to have to take a massive massive paycut (I'm not even talking the comical $6m to Lakers) will have to wait another year.

Can't wait til reality hits this bozo. And we all know when that day comes he'll come up with his BS allegations against the league / how they're blackballing him, etc.....

I think Kyrie is a model citizen this year. Barring major injury he plays 70+ games this year trying to get a max deal. It only takes one team to think he has changed to get the max and there are still a lot of stupid owners and GMs.

I also could see Kyrie getting low ball offers and retiring.

Aren't buyouts immediate? Why would the Clippers be tampering?
Gun jumping, I think. That’s what the Heat and Bulls got in trouble for last year. Too early to contact free agents.

I don’t think the buyout is official yet but that’s probably beside the point.

The buyout is probably fine, but that makes Wall a free agent. If teams can’t talk to FAs yet,  it would seem against the rules if they already have an agreement in place for him to go to the Clips.

The Rockets may have previously agreed to let Wall talk to other teams, in which case it wouldn’t be tampering.

But there is a clear date that teams can start negotiating with free agents, and this is before that date. This is basically why Bucks were penalized last year.

Meanwhile, we’re basically being told the exact details of the Knicks offer to Brunson three days before teams can officially start talking to free agents.

I’m not sure that this case isn’t distinguishable. Wall may not have been a free agent at the time he was discussing joining the Clippers and may have had permission from the Rockets (the team that currently held his contract rights) to do so. Bogdan was a true free agent and wasn’t under contract with the Kings at the time the discussions with the Bucks took place.

Am I the only one that doesn't feel bad for the Lakers?

They get the best players because people want to live/go there. They aren't a well run organization, they don't draft well, they don't develop players. Free agents just want to go there.

Screw them!!!

I grew up a Lakers fan since we didn't have a team in Minnesota when I was young, and I suspect that is the reason I still want them to succeed.

I know. I broke up with them when we got the Wolves and Magic retired (my all-time favorite player except maybe KG or Ant). I was not a fan throughout the Kobe/Shaq years nor the Kobe years. But I have always been a Lebron fan and I think the combo of it being him and my childhood loyalty won't let me enjoy their disfunction. I dunno.

Speaking of the Wolves, they reseign Taurean Prince for 2 years/$16 million with the 2nd year non-guaranteed. Heck yes, no brainer for the Wolves at that contract.

@wojespn

The Knicks are trading center Nerlens Noel and guard Alec Burks to the Pistons, sources tell ESPN. The Knicks will unload $19M more in salary, clearing the way for cap space to try and sign free agent guard Jalen Brunson.

And still win championships.

New York will send Detroit back its 2023 second-round pick, a 2024 second-round pick via Miami and $6 million, sources tell ESPN
by my calculations, that keeps the Pistons from making a max offer to Bridges (under $30M left under the cap). speaking of which, i was surprised listening to Part 1 of Dunc'Ons mock offseason (btw, theyve put Pt 2 behind a paywall, grrrr) that Detroit wasnt even mentioned as a player for the Spartan. they had him going a sign&trade (Ziaire Williams, salary filler & a 1st) to the Grizz

ETA: i like the move if theyre out of the loop on that signing

If they didn’t draft well or develop their players they wouldn’t had had any assets to trade for either Davis (yay) or Westbrook (boo).  I won’t argue with the well run organization part since they’ve been pretty hit or miss with a bunch of their decisions recently, but it’s not like all these superstars are coming to the lakers as FAs, most come via trade.

By the way, what are your thoughts on Max Christie (Lakers aside)?

Bad teams will want to stay bad one more year for a shot at Wembanyama

He is a pure project. He has good size though and plays defense. Needs to work on shooting. If he is on your team you hope for a Jordan Poole type of development.
