New Dry Cleaning album for all you fans of UK Post-Punk talking.
After yesterday’s discussion I was planning to joke about this today.

I don’t really get the love for Dry Cleaning. Just too talky to me and doesn’t seem to fit with the music.

Holy Youth Movement - Better Together

Bristol, UK electronica/synth pop band.

Jimmy Eat World - Place Your Debts

🎶How do we keep making all the same mistakes?
We'd rather have the misery than growing pains🎶

Nice little tune, was expecting a riff laden mosher.

spotify has been hitting me with their new songs as they've come out and then in every playlist since... really doing next to nothing for me. and I liked their earlier stuff.

Stone - Money (Hope Ain’t Gone)

Wow! This grabbed me right away.

This is a banger!

The Wombats - Is This What It Feels Like To Feel Like This

This Wombats cover is a banger.

Spotify Wrapped is out now... Pkew Pkew Pkew was my #1 artist. My #1 song was the only song I listened to by my #4 artist :bag:

Pkewx3, Delvon Larmarr Organ Trio, and Wet Leg were the only bands on my top-5 artists lists with new releases in 2022.

What year-end drafts do you guys usually do? I’ve listened to a lot more new music this year than usual. I’d like to start compiling lists.

my number 2 genre of the year was Chamber Psych...and I don't even know what that is.

it's really just your own favorite songs with a draft around 15 songs or up to whatever capricious and arbitrary number is decided.

I REALLY loved my top 4 albums this year, and REALLY REALLY had a hard time picking #1. My top 10 is locked in while my 11-20 would be subject to whim on a given day. 20-30 are ones that I either did not spend enough time with or found later in the year - there are a couple in the section that I have really enjoyed.

With that list, I would recommend the Goat Girl album from 2021. Have you listened to that? I think you’d like it. I have some 2022 recommendations too but I want to save mentioning those in case we have a new music draft.

I have not! I'll most certainly check it out.

Here in no particular order are 25 albums I really liked this year. If NV does his poll, I'll trim five and assign points.

Beach House---Once Twice Melody
Horsegirl---Versions of Modern Performance
The Mysterines---Reeling
Twen---One Stop Shop
The Smile---A Light for Attracting Attention
Caracara---New Preoccupations
Angel Olsen---Big Time
Wild Pink---ILYSM
Alvvays---Blue Rev
Suede---Autofiction
Black Country, New Road---Ants From Up There
Gang of Youths---angel in realtime
Ball Park Music---Weirder & Weirder
Big Thief---Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe in You
Kiwi Jr. ---Chopper
Jessie Butler & Bernard Butler---For All Our Days That Tear the Heart
The 1975---Being Funny in a Foreign Language
Dendrons---5-3-8
The Delines---The Sea Drift
Denzel Curry---Melt My Eyez See Your Future
The Weather Station---How Is It That I Should Look At The Stars
Spoon---Lucifer On The Sofa
Elvis Costello and the Imposters---The Boy Named If
Seatbelts---A World Inbetween
Kevin Morby---This Is A Photograph

There's an awful lot of moody slow to mid tempo stuff on here. Maybe I should lay off the weed and get out more.

I made a playlist for my own amusement.

Younger generation is reviving early 90s indie rock and emo music

I'm way outside of the target demographic but I didn't care for most of the new synth-heavy emo records I heard this year (Caracara was the exception). To my ears, the sound combines some of the worst element of Emo and Synth-Pop without the melodicism of the latter.
