2022 NBA Roster Draft - This draft goes to 12! (4 Viewers)

and he holds his own on switches, a growing prob w bigs these days. hopefully, i can pair him with just the right guys to turn his Promethean game into sumn that puts him over the top.
If you can get a lock down defender, a slasher and finisher, and a couple of dead eye shooters, you wouldn't lose often imo.

1.3 Lebron James, PF

Still the best player in basketball!  I will be ignoring Lebron’s input on how to put a team around him, especially one particular ####### player.

aaaah, ####. was hoping 1.1 would go Joker, for one reason - defense. last nite there were more 25 pt games and 30 pt games than any day in NBA history. only one of the 5 franchise players out there plays d like he means it and he's gone. but i can make this work.

1.02 Nikola Jokic, C Den.  Lakers cant break .500 w 3 superstars, Nets look ordinary when theyre down to two. Jokic is still winning ball games with his other two weapons in a hospital ward, scratchin' it out w guys named Facundo & Bones & BolBol. and Austin frikkin Rivers. ya hear me? Austin frikkin Rivers.

@JMon348

ETA: interesting thing about Joker - he's younger than Giannis.
Jokic and Giannis have been the two best players this season and it hasn't really been close, IMO. Jokic is having arguably the best season statistically since prime Jordan. He is the best floor raiser in the NBA.

i was more looking for a wildly uneven high-usage guy, a super-tall alley-oop specialist that fouls every time he sets a pick and couldnt body up Taylor Swift down low and a lanky lad who looks around a lot, goes for a steal every defensive set and, when he whiffs and they score, runs to the far corner where he's a solid 31% on treys. maybe another slo white, too.

Joker would have been my #1.  The best basketball player I have ever seen.  Takes what's given, and is incredibly skilled and creative. He was really off in the second quarter last night.  First time I have ever seen him just off.  He finished the game 49/14/10, lol.  Missed a free throw late too. In retrospect, Bird was a poor man's Joker.  And yes, I'm a Celtics fan.  Great pick, you win.
Oh come on

now, does JMon have to pick like GMJames the rest of the way (either old pals or KCP types who will eventually stop respecting him), or didnt we clear that up in the rules?

the thing some folks are forgetting about Bird/Magic is the impact their audacious skills & attitudes had on foes and teammates on the floor. Joker dont have that. however, since he aint really been asked the question yet and is only 26yo, i'm still willing to give him credit for teamly competitive instincts equal to the personally competitive ones which caused him to put together such an awesome game.

That's what you said to me when I told you Paul Pierce was gonna destroy the Lakers and Kobme back in the 2008 finals.  Remember that?  So many screens, lol.
You probably said the same thing in 2010, and don’t bring up Kendrick Perkins.

Birds has him on free throw percentage for sure.  Bird had Max, Ainge, DJ, McHale, and Parrish, while Joker has Bones, Rivers, Facundo Campazzo, Barton, and Aaron Gordon this year.  They are both all time greats.
Agreed. Bird sucks.

No, I rested on my 2008 laurels and walked away from posting after that.  I suspected that was it for our big three.  We had no glass cleaner in 2010 and it killed us. I only to talk when I know I'm right.  I was screaming going into 2008.  You kept telling me I was an idiot, and Pierce was no good going into the 2008 finals.

:neverforget:

Has any team in NBA history gotten as much mileage out of one championship than the Celtics big three era?

I was more pro Pierce than anything going into that.  My Lakers guy here JMon was CRUSHING me and Pierce going into the 08 finals.  Bad take after bad take.  Every take I had turned to gold.  I gloated for a day after the series was over and never said a word since.  But as Rambo said in regards to today..."They (He) drew first blood, not me."

I have @Instinctive's pick. He goes with

1.4 PF Kevin Durant, BRK
Would've been my 1.1 pick.  Nearly put the ragtag Nets on his back to beat the eventual champion Bucks, then followed it up with an insane Olympic performance leading Team USA to gold.

With Kawhi out (and obviously several others have great cases too), I think he's the most talented basketball player in the world.

The first 4 picks have gone in the exact order I had them in.  I knew the first few would be fairly predictable, but I'm surprised its gone exact....can't ever remember that happening in an NBA draft.

I agree. Those performances against the Bucks last year were amazing and I was hoping he slid to me at 5.

Instead, I'm going to take Joel Embiid. Could go a few different directions here, but I'm going to build around the dominant big man who benefits from the lack of injuries in this

No way is James at this age better than Durant or several other players not drafted.  Sub .500 team that wouldn't even be in the playoffs in the East.  Basically not even carrying Westbrook as well as Beal did.

Arguably 1.1.  I'd say SOD, but pretty predictable James would get overdrafted by 5 slots.

I had a top tier of five guys and they went 1-5. Hoping one of them would fall to me, but no luck.

So I'm torn between two guys here. But since this is for just a one year playoff run, I'll go with the guy who's already done it, is still an MVP candidate and has changed the game with his shooting ability.

1.6 - Stephen Curry PG GSW

@Juxtatarot is on the clock

Its a toss up between Lebron and Durant as best player in the league.

For this exercise, Giannis enters the picture as he’s a great 82 game guy, and proved last year he can be a 16 win guy but obviously had a lot of luck along the way.

Still taking Bron and KD if you want to win it all this year but those three are well ahead of everyone else.

there are still a coupla guys on the board i would take ahead LeBron at this point, but i wouldnt argue with anyone taking him anywhere. there's still no one who can take a run at you better, but i have doubts about whether his contribution is fully positive enough anymore.

in addition, while i agree that Durant may be the best basketball player on the planet, i cant help but feel about KD as i did about KG backinaday - his shoulders are too narrow to carry a team home.

If he didn’t get hurt last year, Lebron wins MVP and he’s playing the exact same way except he’s shooting threes better.  And the year before he won a championship.

The top player in the league doesn't have Davis and Westbrook and have a sub .500 in the inferior conference.  Joker wouldn't be sub .500 with the Lakers roster.
