2022 NBA Roster Draft - This draft goes to 12! (2 Viewers)

2.04-Dejounte Murray - PG and lock down perimeter defender.

I almost took him ahead of double dee, so I'm happy with this.  Just praying my third star falls now.

19-8-9-2 isn't bad at all for a PG.  He leads the league in steals.  Always covers the others teams stud.  I'm liking this more and more now.

My objective season ranking had him at #13 overall.  He's been the lone bright spot for the Spurs I was hoping he'd fall.

Good pick

Good pick
Thanks.  I'll tell my son you said that.  He's sixteen and is obsessed with the NBA.

I was just scanning the lists and should get another good player in twenty picks.  If some people donweird things, ai could get a REALLY good guy there.  See ya'll tonight.

dunno how he does it, cuz he rarely seems to be running the team, but i just read that, if 19-8-8-2 holds, he'll be the 3rd player in NBA history to have done it (not counting those b4 they counted steals). first two? Magic & Jordan

Yeah. Murray really popped out statistically for me. Was curious where he would go since he has taken such a leap forward on a sub 500 team.

The reasons I passed on VanVleet & Murray were:

  1. There had already been more PG's taken than any other position
  2. They were both still out there (hoped one would continue to fall)
  3. There is still a big wave of PG's right behind them that I like almost as well...where I didn't like the wing prospects nearly as much over the next 40 slots.

That said, they are both the best players on the board at this point and the 2 biggest steals so far (just ahead of Jimmy Butler).

2.06 - Draymond Green PF

This is going to be a horrible team to watch try to win games 82-78. I'll stagger Green and Gobert so they are only playing half their time together, but the fit offensively will definitely leave something to be desired. I pretty much don't see any way this isn't the best defensive team, regardless of who I put in at the 1-3. I'm not happy about this, but all of my PnR PGs I had slatted here are gone and Green is a fantastic value.

This is who I thought @wikkidpissah was talking about earlier and who I had next on my list.

He's the best defensive player in the league this season but has such an odd offensive game.

Had no idea where he would go in this. Very interesting fit with Gobert, especially in today’s game. Defense will be nasty though.

He makes more sense as a small ball center than full time PF to help take advantage of his offensive skill set. I may have been better off keeping my original draft position and taking PG and Green and running a switch everything style but this will be a fun challenge.

There are two guys left just as good imo.

Guys like VanVleet and Murray I didn’t really know where to slot either, seeing as how much weight do you give this season alone vs. what certain players have done for longer periods. They’re both obviously crushing it this season.

Fun draft already.

Dude is basically a modern-day version of prime Fat Lever -- not just statistically, but even down to size and body type. This was a great get for you.

4. VanVleet looks like a typo and is no fun to pronounce.

2.07

Jaren Jackson Jr.

A versatile center who can protect the rim and shoot is such an asset today, although I don't love any of the options in the 2nd round.  I'm rolling the dice that JJJ's improvement this year is for real and going with it.

@Eephus

Kind of a mushy tier here -- I'll take SG Devin Booker.
Looks like the back of the first round was The Time to Get a Wing -- that mushy tier went off all in a row:

1.16 Doug B - Devin Booker
1.17 PIK95 - DeMar DeRozan
1.18 Scoobus - Jimmy Butler
1.19 The Gator - Jayson Tatum
1.20 Jayrod - Donovan Mitchell
2.01 Jayrod - Paul George

...

At 1.16, I was evaluating Booker and Butler side by side and noticed something weird.

Before he got to Miami, Jimmy Butler was pretty much a plus 3-point shooter for his career. Not Steph, but Butler had a decent three ball.

Once he got to Miami ... Butler suddenly lost 100 points off his 3-point percentage.  Did something specific happen? Does Miami's role for him make it harder for him to get off clean looks from deep? I'd say it was variance if it were just his 20-something games this season, but it's been a few seasons running now.

The curse of KAT.

Two options here, but going with the better defender of the two and one of the best pure shooters in nba history.

2.10 - Klay Thompson - SG - Warriors

He’s great in these formats because he can produce at an incredibly high level without having to have the ball in his hands the majority of every possession.
