2022 NBA Roster Draft - This draft goes to 12! (2 Viewers)

gonna dip again into one of the best rookie classes of the century:

6.02 Josh Giddey G OK

6'8 point guards will always intrigue me. Seen very little of him, but a kid who wont be 20 til next season, had no American basketball except exhibs, stepping into Day One starterhood on an ill-defined team of unschooled chukkers with much more verve & maturity than the 1.01 and putting up multiple double-doubles and one triple-double in his first half season would be hot from a trad point guard. as a multi-positional kickstarter of my reserve squad, i'm excited by the potential and actuality

let's give @JMon348 one more crack @ you-know-who

Giddey (27%), Smart (30%), Ingram (34%), Mobley (31%), Brogdon (31%) is some horrendous three point shooting to surround Jokic with. Yikes

6.3 Lauri Markkanen F CLE

Underrated part of Cleveland's success this year.  I love watching the Cavs mostly because of Mobley and Garland, but every time I put their game on it seems Markkanen is doing great things.  Playing as a 7 foot small forward is really showing off his versatility.  Recently injured, curious to see how the Cavs adjust.

Being 7 foot, it gives me a ton of options for this team, he could be LeBron's forward partner at times and can even play some small ball center, without being all that small, when the team needs to change pace

yeah, that's always gonna be a feature of teams i draft unless my early-round guys are just strokemonsters. i figure it's the shot, not the shooter, unless someone has an obviously bad eye, stroke or shot-selection (a la Smaaaat, tho not as bad as it once was) and all these guys can handle, pass and there will be plenty of screens in my system of hi/lo-post redux with Jokic & Mobley. put them on the floor together and someone's gonna get a good shot. i've looked at strokers the last two rounds but didnt find any with enough ancillary skills.

brogdon and ingram are definitely better 3 point shooters than their current percentages indicate
Ingram's shootings percentages have dropped 40 to 60 points all around this season -- treys, 2 pointers, and free throws.

Brogdon is 70 points below his career average right now on threes -- .307 this season, .377 career.

Sorry for the delay. Workdays and all.

6.04 Alex Caruso

Having a fantastic season. Another contender for one of the bets perimeter defenders, but this one can actually hit 37% of his three pointers too. Not even [redacted dirty player] can hold him down in our league.

Why is that?

They haven't made the slightest improvements to their products in years. It's basically abandonware at this point.

The baseball sim had potential if WIS had continued development, fixing SimLive would be a good place to start.  The basketball sim was always garbage.

Ingram is a tough dude to analyze. I love his length—and I think he’s clearly very talented and he has the ability to be a matchup nightmare. My only concern with him especially this season—as I’ve followed the Pelicans a lot—is that he tends to be a bit of a ball hog. He puts up a lot of shots that aren’t what I’d categorize as being high percentage.  I think he easily could increase his percentages and efficiency on a team where he’s more compelled to pass the ball in place of taking a bad shot.  Right now on New Orleans—aside from Jonas—just seems like he feels he’s better off shooting the majority of the time—regardless of how “great” a shot it is.

#### that dirty SOB

Now I need a big man who can set screens, finish around the rim and provide some toughness against the few top tier behemoths that are roaming around. Chipping in some decent passing (averaging 3 assists per game) is a nice bonus too.

6.06 Steven Adams, C, MEM

@Juxtatarotis up next

6.07 Derrick Rose

He will primarily be a backup for Ja Morant although they could play together in certain situations. My team has a lot of speed and athleticism and Derrick fits right in. Derrick has also shot over 40% from three in the last two seasons.

And injuries don’t exist? Sign me up.

In his two partial seasons with the Knicks he has. 41% last year, 40% this year. It is only on wide open looks and very few attempts, but still, that is not something I ever imagined happening with him

Not sure why we’d wait for the end of the season to do judging. Our fictional scenario doesn’t include injuries or Covid so it’s not like the second half of the season will provide any real comparability for us to use.

Disagree. Injuries may not matter, but guys who got off to a slow start don't have the ability to get back into expected form.

Yeah—and guys that are doing well now might have reduced numbers because their respected teams might be tanking or might not be in a playoff picture.  I think we should definitely vote at the completion of the draft.  If we want to do a second vote closer to the end of the season for curiosity—I’m down for that.

Redraft!

Whose freaking pick is it? What did we make like one pick every two hours today?

ETA - looked it up, 8 total picks in the last 16 hours... @Frostillicus is on the clock.
