2022 Philadelphia Eagles - Leave Gannon in Arizona and let’s run through the NFC again in 2023. (5 Viewers)

Just a heads up. For those of you with sensitive eyes I know the board seems a bit more bright now. Next to the search function is a dark mode which makes the background a light grey and black. Tried it myself and I think it's better for me.
I switched because I couldn't see the "edit" button very well on the regular version. (I am color blind.) It shows up better for me in dark mode.

there was a LOT to like with that preseason game! Dean and Davis, Jurgens, and Hurts looked sharp for starters.

Pete Rose? What does Charlie Hustle have to do with the Eagles?
Rose was invited to a Phillies alumni weekend. Unfortunately the Phillies thought it a brilliant idea to have him do a pre and post game interview and do a guest appearance live on TV during an inning. He managed to say something vulgar, racist and sexist in every one of them.

So with the Eagles? Nothing. Just a topic in Philly this week.

I know Jurgens was a HUGE need, looks great, and was a great pick, but I swear if another Superstar WR goes ONE pick after us again like Jefferson did....

I don't even pay attention to that stuff. The reason Jefferson was such a big deal is because we took Reagor. We already had Devontae and traded for AJ. There was 0% chance we were even thinking about Pickens.

I know we weren't, and I don't regret the pick, would just suck if Pickens became the super star Jefferson did and it was 1 pick after ours again.

Sounds like JJAW is gone haven't confirmed yet. Kevin Kinkead who's had a mystery source right on several moves including Steven Nelson signing and Was/PHI Covid game moving is saying he's gone.

The best preseason moment of all time

i assume this is a prior season, anyone know who that was? search for jersey number didnt come up with anything.
2011 pre-season week 3 game against Cleveland, that was DT Marlon Favorite who accidentally hit the "B" button.

It was his last year in the NFL. He got waived by the Eagles after this game, picked up by the Rams and waived for final cuts in September, then ended up playing in the Arena League for 3 years.

Eagles release two players ... with another cut on the way?

Citing a “mystery source” who has previously been right about various Eagles scoops, Kevin Kinkead of Crossing Broad says J.J. Arcega-Whiteside is “gone.”

JJAW was listed as a non-participant in Sunday’s training camp practice due to personal reasons. He saw limited playing time late in the Eagles’ preseason game against the New York Jets. He was also recently listed as the sixth tight end on the team’s depth chart. Point being: the writing has been on the wall for him.

JJAW has obviously been a big disappointment for the Eagles since they selected him with a second-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. To his credit, he did find a way to be of use last year as a blocking receiver and special teams guy. Nick Sirianni referred to him as the Eagles’ “enforcer” shortly after the season ended.

But now Zach Pascal projects to play the role that JJAW did last year. And his legitimate receiving ability makes him an upgrade at that spot.

Assuming JJAW gets cut, there might be some talk about how it’s happening now because the Eagles want to give him a chance to latch on with another team. And perhaps there’s some truth to that. But given his previous struggles and overall lack of production, it won’t be easy for him to stick around with a new team. He just might be donezo or destined to spend time on a practice squad.

Miles Sanders officially on the Injury Report for a hamstring. Could be nothing, but the odds on him getting re-signed after this season are getting slimmer.
I have seen more than one beat writer indicate Gainwell isn't having a good camp. I feel like anyone could run behind that line but I'm starting to worry a little bit about what I thought would be a strength.

I think they will be ok platooning out Sanders, Gainwell, Scott and either Kennedy Brooks or Huntley. I wish they had a big, bruising back on the roster this year, to play the Jordan Howard role. Fantasy-wise, I don't really like any of them as a RB1.

I hadn't heard that about Gainwell. I picked him up late for depth but I could use the roster spot if this is true. I was under the impression the opposite was true, and Gainwell was earning more PT...

Drafted in the 12 spot. Being in the 12-hole I didn't want to get locked out of QBs. My Lamar pick was in the 7 - 8 turn and QBs flew off the board afterward.
In these types of leagues, I have a hard time grabbing TEs, Ks, and D early so I forced myself here to see what I could get later.

I feel like there is a lot of misinformation coming out of Eagles camp. If this is true about Hurts telling AJ that he's not throwing to him in the preseason opener then goes downfield and scores anyways. Honestly, I feel like the Eagles are on schedule with where they want to be right now. Now that changes as the season goes on but I think we could play Detroit right now.

It may mean absolutely nothing but the quotes below are from 2 different writers. This is specific to one practice but I haven't read much positive news so far.

• Second-year running back Kenny Gainwell has had an underwhelming camp. His projected role in the Eagles' offense this season is that of a pass-catching back who can line up all over the formation and create mismatches against linebackers and safeties. I haven't seen it. Today he had two drops. One was a difficult catch on a back shoulder throw in the end zone. Tough catch, but you want him to make that. The other hit him in the hands on an out route.

• It’s hard to say Kenneth Gainwell looks like a player who has made a leap from Year 1 to Year 2. He had an opportunity to make a back shoulder catch during a red zone drill but couldn’t bring it in. It wouldn’t have been an easy grab ... but he’s supposed to provide value as a pass-catching back so it would be nice to see him make those plays more than never. Later, Gainwell dropped a Hurts ball right to him in the flat.

Not exactly a groundbreaking opinion though. Miles is being drafted as an RB3 in round 7 and Gainwell as an RB4 in round 11, so I don't think ANYONE likes either of them as an RB1.

I'm not even playing FF this year, so I don't know where anyone is getting drafted. Surprises me that they are that low. 🤷‍♂️

There's a lot of good fantasy RB's in the league, and Sanders is probably one of the worst starting RB's in the NFL in terms of fantasy production, so makes sense that he's around RB25-30 in his ranking. Fairly easy to list 20 other RB's that should outperform him in fantasy.

Should've traded him last year at the deadline. Good talent but likes to run his mouth and availability issues. Not something you want in your RB.

So, a lot of chatter by some beats and insiders, that the Eagles and Browns may be working a Kareem Hunt trade.

The logic seems to be:
1. Miles Sanders is already hurt and its more serious than Philly is letting on (as in week 1 is unlikely)
2. With the Watson suspension extended, the Browns are more willing to deal a role player who isn't likely to be back in 2023.
3. The Eagles have a bunch of draft capital, and the Browns don't.
4. The Browns are comfortable with Johnson and Ford behind Chubb.

Sounds like the Browns want a 3rd and the Eagles would prefer a 4th. Again, just a rumor, but one that makes a ton of sense for both teams.

Nice, wouldn't mind this given the price.

Hard to Google for this info though, as "Hunt Eagles" brought up all sorts of weird stuff haha.

They can keep the women beater. He goes perfect with the rapist QB they have now. I want Chubb or no deal.

Also don't believe much in the rumor. I think Howie wants to keep most of his picks for a loaded QB draft in the coming.

Maybe the Eagles are looking for an RB but unless we are giving up a late round pick for this clown no thank you. I think the Eagles are looking for a cheaper deal than this. Only a rumor because it makes sense. Hunt probably won't be back and Sanders is hurt.

Also is it me or do PSU RBs just like to talk? First we had Miles talking and then we got former KC Chief Larry Johnson with his conspiracy theories etc and now Barkley is yapping.

Its probably not fair to lump Sanders or Barkley in with Larry Johnson. Johnson might be a legitimately disturbed person.

Damn.... Anti-Hunt, Anti-Watson, Anti-Hurts, AND Anti-PSU all in one shockingly short post!

Probably not the best thread for this, but I'll give some feedback:
- Swift at 1.12 is a touch early but if you really like him then it's not bad at all
- Lamb at 2.01 is too early for my liking. I'm sure there were better WR's like Adams, Diggs, Deebo, etc. Or maybe go another stud RB.
- Can't fault you for Brown at 3.12- good pick
- Same as above for Zeke at 4.01- good value here
- After that it kind of falls off for me. Kittle/Ceh are two of my least fave players this year. You got Kittle much past his ADP so that's not so bad if you do really like him. CEH probably got taken way too early at 6.01, as he's going end of 6, and slipping into the 7th recently.
- Great value on Lamar at 7.12, especially if QB's started going after that.
- Not sure who you took at 8.01 but it's probably Lockett and he's going end of 9 so this was almost 2 full rounds too early.
- The fact that you have a great kicker and defense (probably the top at both spots) is quite troubling, and means you probably took them too early. Never ever before the last 2 rounds! Your bench definitely shows that you went too early on K and D.
- Bench is quite weak and old/injured at WR, and young and unproven at RB. I'd be quite worried having to start anyone from your bench during all your bye weeks and injuries.
- Overall not my favourite draft, but that's why you do mocks. Check out some ADP numbers and you can probably get a lot of these guys a lot later in the draft than you did, and definitely wait until the very end of your draft to take any K or D.

@Deamon
Thank you for your feedback. Sorry I didn't post the rounds of the picks. You nailed the Brown/Elliot picks. I definitely felt like I found some value there.

However, since it was a mock I forced a plan of filling the starting roster first before drafting the bench. I typically end up with waiver wire fodder at TE, K, and D. This bench is not good.

If I recall I had Diggs or Lamb as Adams was gone and Deebo went way early. My gut went Lamb. But I also picked Ridley instead of Kupp last year.

Thank you once again for your feedback.

I agree with that a lot of CTE damage in there. I think my point was these guys no matter who seem pretty soft and get triggered easily. Barkley is upset people are calling him injury prone. Um that legit out of 64 games he's missed 21 or so a full season plus some and has been in and out of games on a consistent bases in games he's played.

Sanders has been inconsistent since entering the league. Some of that is usage from the coaches however he's also dealt with some injuries as well. I don't think anything said about these 2 guys negatively is not unfair at this point. It's put up or shut up time for them.

I wouldn't assume/blame CTE for Johnson at all. He's been like this since he was at Penn St. Any head injuries obviously wouldn't help, but its not the cause.

Barkley has had some really bad luck. That ankle injury could have happened to anybody ever, it was the flukiest injury I've maybe ever seen. I'm also not gonna hold a torn ACL against him either, those happen, especially to RBs. I can get on him for underachieving and being a soft-ish runner for a 230 pounder, but I don't think he's really all that injury prone.

Sanders is a tougher nut to crack. He is somebody who seems a bit injury prone, and while he's averaged over 5 YPC the last 2 seasons (only Chubb and Taylor have too) he's had the benefit of a great OL, and at least last season, teams more focused on the QB running.

Getting Hunt would be huge!

I really don't believe the rumors. Eagles had a chance to take him after he was cut by KC for beating the crap out of that girl and he also lied to KC about what happened. What would make the Eagles think otherwise now? Once you become someone in the league known to be unreliable that stays with you for yrs.

Not to excuse Hunt's actions, but, "beating the crap out of that girl" is a large misrepresentation of what happened. She attacked him, and he shoved her onto the ground, and followed that up by pushing her back down with his foot when she tried to get back up. Still not acceptable behavior, but a far cry from beating the crap out of.

As to what is different today? Well:

1. Its been 4 years, and Hunt has stayed trouble free since.
2. Its a different coaching staff than Philly had then
3. The Eagles seemingly had a more settled backfield than. They had just traded for Jay Ajayi the year prior and still had Darren Sproles. They probably didn't know at the time, that both guys were in their final seasons.

ETA: I'm believing the rumors that Philly is interested, I'm not sure I'm believing that a deal is close or even likely.

1/2. The Same GM and Owner are still there don't care if he's stayed out of trouble since. Zero respect for guy

3. I think you forgot how him and his friends stomped a mud hole Stone Cold Style into her. apparently she used some choice language but he shouldn't have touched her period. Didn't even try to get himself out of the situation. He knew what he was doing. Lurie is still good friends with Andy Reid. He actually asked his opinion of Hunt at the time etc. Team doing their homework etc. They past on him. Hunt is in a perfect situation. CLE seems to love scumbags. Him and Watson are perfect for each other.

Sproles was cooked well before that season ended. SHould've retired after the SB honestly. Their options weren't great at RB at the time so surely a talent like Hunt they could've used and past on him.

Also why trade for Hunt when he's a rental? Eagles I don't think are legit SB contenders this year. Maybe playoffs but a lot of that depends on the QB play of Hurts. I'd rather take my chances with who we have now and either sign guys iN FA or drake a rookie who comes with a cheap contract. This is why I wanted Robinson, Pierce, etc this last draft. The Eagles no matter what should've tried to trade Miles Sanders last year. Probably wouldn't resign, always seems hurt and they weren't making any noise in the playoffs. Surely a playoff team trying to get far would've paid for him. Reevaluated RB this past offseason sign a guy and draft a guy. Hell Sony Micheal was out there and we could've had him on the cheap. Save our draft picks for next year. If they will take Reagor straight up for him and compensated with maybe a 5th or something with incentives to become more based on Performance I'd maybe think about it

I just think if they are looking for RBs they aren't going the Hunt rout and looking for cheaper options.

Also there's this from Mary Kay Cabot who Is well connected to the Browns team

Mary Kay Cabot: Hunt request trade Browns said no. Zero substance to Browns/Eagles Hunt trade rumors
