The Eagles' pre-game video is on point this week...

That is some good stuff

i am surprised the Eagles couldn't move him this off-season. i think he will be a great fit next year for a team with a rookie QB to sit behind and learn from, or will be great as a bridge QB for a few years for someone.

Eagles win game Saturday and Jalen will still be in running for MVP

I care far more about a win, no one that wants Hurts to win MVP want Minshew to stink.
lol I don't think anyone wants Minshew to stink. But it would be extremely painful in here if he just totally went off lol
LOL would it? Blasting Dallas no matter what is a good thing, despite narratives from people with their own agendas. All that would prove to me really is this roster can't be stopped.

To me, this game is more about our defense vs the Cowboys offense. The Cowboys defense is missing some players plus many have illnesses. We should be able to move the ball and score.

My prediction:

Eagles - 27
Cowboys - 24

Depending on how Minshew plays I could see a blowout by either team but Dallas seems a little fragile right now.

There is no way in hell we are getting "blown out" trust this. Its us blowing them out , us winning or if they win, its a one score game. They leak at CB2 is too large to ignore and I expect Nick and Gardner to focus on this. Maybe a double move at Diggs at some point too haha. Should be a good tight game, but our roster is too talented and also more healthy.

While watching the Jets/Jags game last night, I wondered if the Jets would have interest in him if he has a good showing here late in the season.

Looks like 13-1 at home vs. divisional opponents from 2018-2022.

Yeah. I think this was gonna be a tighter game than people thought even before the Hurts injury.
I think most people here kinda expected a loss to be a high probablility. That's why them losing to Jax was so helpful.
Yea imagine if cowboys won last week. There would be a lot more pearls clutched.
I would think if that happened that Hurts would be playing this week.

PHI/DAL history when playing on Xmas Eve, Xmas, or day after Xmas:

12/24/11
PHI 20 @ DAL 7
W
Miles Austin scored a garbage time TD with 7 seconds left, ruining the shutout.

12/25/06
PHI 23 @ DAL 7
W
3rd win of 4 straight with Jeff Garcia at QB to take the NFC East crown.

12/26/82
PHI 24 @ DAL 20
W
Overcame 4 turnovers to win in Dallas and keep their faint playoff hopes alive in the second-to-last game of the strike-shortened season.

So, 3-0 even with all the games being played in Dallas.

Have to say I'm a little surprised by the lines out there. Not shocked to see Dallas favored at home, but by a TD?
You'd think Philly is the team that's looked shaky lately. Minshew is among the best, possibly THE best backup in the league....no reason to expect Eagles to fold like garbage.

Maybe I’m overly concerned for little reason but Minshew’s noodle arm and Diggs skill at jumping routes seems like trouble

Was +1 for Philly before the Hurts news. Jumped as high as +6.5. Now it's settled at +4.5. is say that's fair for a team missing an MVP caliber QB. With that said, that line tells me the Eagles have a real shot to win this even without Hurts.

More info on the Hurts injury: has an SC (sternoclavicular) injury. Joint where the sternum (chest) meets the clavicle (collarbone). Centrally located at the chest, but is part of what comprises the shoulder girdle and matters for normal shoulder mechanics.

Seems like it’s a tad more than just a sprained shoulder and Schefter now reporting Saints game is in doubt.

Might as well sit until playoffs now

Would like to see 3 or 4 series in week 18 just to keep timing/rythym. Pretty sure Minshew can secure at least one win before the seasons end.

Getting one today

Who wants to bet this injury is worse then they say? Probably don't want to put him on IR and risk not having him first playoff game if healthy

The Pirate died and Minshew gave the eulogy at the funeral. Minshew back in Texas where it all started and starting a game with #1 seed on the line. Seems like Destiny for Gardner Minshew America's real hero today.

I'm not superstitious but today I'm breaking out the Ghost of Weapon X! Brian Dawkins absolutely killed the Cowboys back in the day...

Also here is a neat little graphic that illustrates all the Pro Bowlers the Eagles have this season.

Seems there is a bit of difference between an AC joint sprain (which was the assumption by most) vs. an SC joint sprain.

From Les Bowen:

“On Jalen Hurts’ injury, I checked w/a medical source, who isn’t involved in Hurts’ treatment, but has dealt w/SC joint problems in football players. Hard to say for sure but it COULD take every bit of time up to a Jan. 20-21 playoff game for Hurts’ shoulder to be completely right”

Dr. Chao, the “Pro Football Doc” said similar this morning, too.

I think we have to be at peace with best case scenario being we get that last win without him and he’s able to rest and rehab to be 100% by the first playoff game.

He won’t get MVP if he doesn’t play the rest of the year. That would be a shame. I wish he was playing today.

Side note, but great title @The Noid. Don’t always mention but definitely had a little giggle when I saw the connection with Siriani’s flower analogy and “Gardner”. Great job

Didn't like the illegal contact call against Slay....WR initiated that contact. I know they'll call it every time but I don't think they should.
Four turnovers was the problem....Minshew made good decisions but accuracy was a little off.

Honestly believe too much was being made of this game...Eagles were the dog for a reason....it's hard to win a third straight on the road...against a good team with your backup? and THEY DIDN'T NEED TO WIN! What we really need is for Maddox, Johnson and the rookie DT to not be hurt badly.

On the 4th and 8? Man we got shafted on a few calls. That and the fumble that we recovered late and they just gave back to Dallas without even looking at it. Not surprising. Nfl wanted cowboys to win this one for sure

There were no egregious calls, nothing that isn't typically called or not called. And TBH....the replay they showed it sure seemed like Cowboys won that fumble fair and square and the one ref who signaled Eagles ball was a bit premature. Two specific calls/noncalls I pointed out I thought could have gone the other way (for us) but neither was a terrible call/noncall. We didn't lose because of the zebras but because we turned it over 4 times.

Exactly. Nothing to be upset about if youre an Eagles fan. Winning this one would have been icing on the cake and nice for Christmas and all but in the grand scheme of things this is better for you anyway. It’s REALLY hard to beat a good team three times in a row.

As a Cowboys fan I wouldnt have been mad if we lost this if it ensures a victory in January.

ETA- We have 1 starting CB and he’s a gambler who gets burnt (Diggs). It’s that time of year.

:que old jokes:

What fumble are you talking about? Sanders? That was a CLEAR recovery by Dallas. I literally stood up and pointed at the ball in the Cowboys players arms during the actuall play.

Well said. And there was one noncall on a Cowboys third down that I was cringing on expecting a flag. Would have been a soft one but not a "bad call". Not one egregiously bad call today. Good game between two good teams

Really want to see the tape again how they gave up 40 points on defense. I get some of it but that is inexcusable for a team with high expectations
TBH, I think DAk played arguably his best game of the year, despite the early pick 6. Losing Maddox early was a huge factor too
I do think the 3rd road game in a row was a bit of a factor too.
Absolutely...and on Christmas eve? TBH I think it speaks volumes that the Eagles were in the game with a chance to win late at all. A mediocre or bad team would have been blown out by halftime

It's all good. Bummed the defense gave up so many points, but also with 4 turnovers that's going to happen. Bottom line, we win against the Saints, and if we have to face Dallas at our place with a week of rest? I like our chances.
