2022 Philadelphia Eagles - Leave Gannon in Arizona and let’s run through the NFC again in 2023. (5 Viewers)

Missed the second half because I had to go to work, but was generally pleased by the first half. Defense was playing well. Offense was a hair off, but it seemed fairly vanilla and it was obvious they were protecting Hurts a little. The threat of the QB running wasn't there, and it clearly made a difference. Credit the Giants backups too...they're still pros who wanted to show well...and they generally did. Final score wasn't the blowout we expected, but it never really felt like the game was in doubt, and they were clearly placing a priority on health once they had a lead and a couple quick stops on D. I'm satisfied.

On another topic...Gannon would be a fool to go to Houston. I think you'd have to have a screw loose to want to coach for an owner/GM with such a quick hook. I mean...did ANYBODY expect Houston to win more then 5 or 6 games max? And that expectation included playing the NFC Least, which suddenly was the NFC Beast again. Texans played several good teams tough, and fought week in and week out despite a sub par roster. Not a huge Lovie fan, but he deserved better.
It's not like Houston was going to be good next year either. So yea it doesn't make sense to fire Lovie yet. But maybe the GM wanted a new QB to have a new coach and have their fates tied together instead of starting the QB with a retread like Lovie.
Just gonna chalk it up to, amongst all the other head scratching, counter-productive moves this franchise continues to make. Love what Lovie did, pulled a card out of the Herm Edwards playbook.

We were just talking about that last night at the bar. Next year is our league's 20th anniversary and we were planning on doing a Vegas trip for the draft. Flights to Vegas are through the roof, so instead we were talking about all attacking Arrowhead instead. That would be a pretty sweet game to go to.

Yeah, on paper that is a rough gauntlet. Off the top of my head:

Next year home games:

Dallas Cowboys-Win
Washington Commanders-Win
New York Giants-Win
Arizona Cardinals-Win
San Francisco 49ers-Loss
Buffalo Bills-Loss
Miami Dolphins-Loss
Minnesota Vikings-Win

Next year away games:

Dallas Cowboys-Loss
New York Giants-Win
Washington Commanders-Win
Los Angeles Rams-Win
Seattle Seahawks-Loss
New England Patriots-Win
New York Jets-Win
Tampa Bay Buccaneers-Win
Kansas City Chiefs-Loss

11-6 Record. We're going to lose some key players in the offseason and Super Bowl hangovers are a real thing:homer:

And you’re gonna want an offensive minded HC. I think Steichen has a better shot at that job than Gannon does at this point.

The Eagles are the first team in the Super Bowl era to have 15+ more sacks than any other team in the NFL (15 more than next closest team, KC)

Also:

Eagles became the first team in NFL history to secure a No. 1 seed twice in five years with different head coaches and different QBs.

Jalen Hurts led the NFL in QB win % and TD-INT ratio this season. Every QB in the Super Bowl era to do that won the MVP and/or the Super Bowl that season.

I travelled with the Green Legion the last time the Eagles were in Nashville. Awesome trip. They got a private charter, hotel, tickets, events all weekend and our tailgate was a fully catered breakfast and lunch boat ride up the river from our hotel to the stadium.

The Houston Texans have requested permission to interview Eagles OC Shane Steichen, a source confirmed, as well as Eagles DC Jonathan Gannon.

Because we've been having similar results a few years in a row now. Same as when we played Green Bay all those years.

Didn't like what I saw yesterday at all. Hope it was just rust from Hurts because he looked bad and went back to some old ways especially the INT. Driscoll killed the Fantasy title hopes with the called back Smith TD. Hurts looked like he was playing to try and not get hurt and honestly if that was the case you need to pull him for his own sake. I missed NYG FG miss did it get Blocked or not?

They got to work on and clean up issues though and have 2 weeks to do so.

Tough to read much into it. Rust/injury caution from Hurts, they didn't call a 'normal' gameplan. Had a 19 point lead. Had a TD called back at the goalline with a INT the next play.
Bottom line they won. We have an extra week to rest. Hopefully we can put a good plan together for the playoffs. (maybe somehow the Seahawks win?)

aside from the playoff game, we've played them 11 times in the past 25 years...

Weird, feels like more. I guess more so recently though, 2018, 2018, 2019, 2022, 2023.

Was the FG Blocked though NYG missed or bad snap?

Oddly enough, the only teams in the NFC that the Eagles have played less in their history are the Bucs, Seahawks and Panthers, all of which came into the NFC much later than the Vikings.

Your statement just had me curious, because I never had the feeling that Minnesota was a team we played that much.

Gano didn't miss a FG. Looked like a poorly executed fake where Gillan, the holder, pulled the ball and tried to run right. Well covered by the Eagles.

I think one of the most important factors to our performance in the playoffs will be if Lane can play, and if he can somehow manage to be close to being himself.
I agree, but man am I not counting on him really being out there for too long in all honesty. I hope so!

This is why the Cowboys game worries me more than I’d like it to. Having Parson on that side will change the game a lot and if he can’t play when/if we make it to SF it’s a bigger issue.

I’m just rooting for Seattle this weekend lol

Thanks I missed the play and was at a bar buddy said it was a blocked FG or whatever

Yup if Lane isn’t himself, I don’t think the Eagles win the Super Bowl. If he is, I don’t see a team beating them.

Buffalo, SF, KC, Cinci, heck even Dallas, all can beat us even with Lane. He obviously swings us huge, but not sure I'd go that far.

Yeah I didn’t mean to imply that they couldn’t be beaten. I just meant that he’s such a huge difference maker that I think they would be the best team with him in there. Of course upsets happen all the time.

While it feels like destiny that we get a Dallas-Birds game next Sunday, I think I'd rather go against TB. Remember this? Jalen wants some ice cold vengeance, methinks.

I'm not sure who I'd rather play, but that should be a really good close game anyways.

Is it confirmed we play next Sunday?

Don't think so. The winner of the Dallas-TB game HAS to play Sunday, so if everything shakes out as expected (Minny and SF win) then we'd be facing one of Dallas/TB on Sunday. However, if somehow Seattle wins, then we'd play them on Saturday (winner of Minny/NYG would play the winner of Dallas/TB). Same idea if NYG beats Minny-which I actually think is very possible.

End of 2022 cap rollover to 2023 for Philly: $5.4M (with any playoff incentives still to come off)

8th most in the league with CLE the most ($27.6M) and LAR least ($400K).

So I was looking at the schedule and different scenarios for who we'd play. By far the most awesome possibility and one that is not completely impossible is....

Divisional round-Eagles vs. Giants
NFCC-Eagles vs. Cowboys
Super Bowl-Eagles vs Chiefs with the Andy Reid against Philly connection.

The city's collective head would explode if this happened and would be delicious.

An Eagles vs Cowboys NFCC game would be the most nerve-racking experience ever endured by both fanbases. So much trash would be talked leading up and neither fan base would be able to handle the fallout of losing to the other.

would be epic.

To be fair though, most Cowboys fans I know IRL are not terribly aware of what's going on. Cowboys have a TON of fans that know little to nothing about football in general. (Obviously this doesn't apply to SP posters)

Arguably the best game I ever attended was the 2008, week 17, 44-6 curb stomping against Dallas to get into the playoffs. You're right. a NFCC game at the Link would be more explosive.

I was at the Jan ‘81 NFCCG at the Vet. I can still see Wilbert running that long TD like it happened yesterday

I thought I heard that Maddox was no where to be seen but I might be wrong.

I DID hear that Lane was doing all the normal O line practice stuff-not just stretching and physical therapy that you’d expect with an injury. That seems like tremendous news.

The important question is, if Dallas and Philly met in the NFFCG, how much would tickets go for on the secondary market. Hoping the answer is $1200-$1500.

also, i know this season has us all excited for the playoff run, and i think one big thing that i have overlooked up until last week was the idea of how Hurts can perform on the "big stage" in the playoffs. thinking of Wentz and other QBs who have looked good during regular seasons, but never seemed able to step up to playoffs and raise their level to win in the playoffs.

i am with everyone hoping for the Super Bowl and will be disappointed if they don't get there, but with a step back looking at this, i think Hurts looking like a top QB in the first playoff game will be a big win for all of us. easy to overlook, but just making sure he can elevate his game for the playoffs and not let the moment get to him too much will be a huge win for Eagles fans and really determine how his next contract should look
