People I work with in Iowa are all about this weekend. I'm not sure I could care less about this weekend's lineup though.

Iowa offensive coordinator Brian Ferentz will have a clear objective to meet if he wants to keep his job beyond the 2023 season.

The Hawkeyes must score at least 25 points per game in the 2023 season or his contract will terminate on June 30, 2024, per multiple reports. Iowa must also win at least seven games, which can include a bowl game, as part of the clause. If the Hawkeyes hit those marks, Ferentz's contract will auto-extend through June 30, 2025.

The school put the amendments in place last week, while also cutting Ferentz's pay by $50,000. He'll make $850,000 in the upcoming season but will receive a bonus, two-year contract and raise should Iowa reach the aforementioned thresholds.

While 25 points per game is typically slightly below average in college football, the Hawkeyes fell well short of that mark last season. They scored just 17.7 points per game, ranking 123rd in the nation.

:lmao:

Nepotism at its finest. :lmao:
They scored 24 points last week (an offensive explosion for them). Whoever they were playing turned the ball over in their own territory with a few seconds remaining, and you know Brian was like "kick the FG". Daddy ran out the clock instead but it will be hilarious if he misses the PPG by those points he left on the field.

Anybody else a bit surprised that Colorado is only favored by 2.5 over Nebraska? The Huskers just lost to a Gopher team that literally can not run the ball. I figured they would be double-digit dogs in this one, but I guess not?

You realize that line moved 10 points since it opened, right? It was Nebraska -7 until Colorado surprised TCU and Nebraska gacked another one away. I'm tempted to fade the public here but I'm also scared to bet against Deion.
No, I wasn't aware that NEB was originally favored, not to mention by that much. That makes more sense. I'm not a huge bettor on games. Just dabble in pick'em type contests/games, some of which are against the spread. And, when I noticed the 2.5 point spread for COL/NEB, having watched both teams last week, it just caught my attention.

Thanks for the reply. (y)

I'm staying away from college football this month and maybe longer. It's just TOO hard to trust 18-22 year old kids to be prepared and ready to play....a lesson I wish I had learned 15 years and several thousand dollars ago. :bag:

How is Charlotte-Maryland a prime-time game on NBC? I thought I heard them say that during last night's game but then thought that can't possibly be right.

I imagine NBC is going to try and feature everybody. This would probably be the Twerps best game to be shown.

Dabo refusing to use the portal because it’s not in the Bible or whatever killed their potential dynasty. Thank God.
And this is a point of contention among fans and the frustration with Dabo over the last couple of years. Time after time in other games when a great play is made we hear "transfer from <school> with an outstanding catch", etc. New rules allow a team to be overhauled (Colorado) or upgraded (ND with Harman, certainly FSU in skill positions).

Dabo said he's open to the portal but he seems to think he doesn't have holes to fill, which makes it worse as it shows his blindness and/or incompetence. The Oline has been shotty for years and he has no WR that can separate. No playmakers at wideout since Higgins and Ross left. Everyone sees it but him.

It was a nice run but Clemson's inability to read the room and adapt to the changing competitive climate is going to lead them back to annual visits to the Belk bowls of mid-December.

I shudder to think what FSU is going to do to them in a few weeks. That team is hungry and full of dogs. I don't look forward to ND either. It feels like FSU is best in the ACC and will be its rep in the playoff.
To be fair, ND only takes grad transfers, same with Michigan. i‘m not sure what Clemson’s position is on transfers, sounds like Dabo doesn’t want to deal with it.

Look at the slate of Big Ten home games today. Maryland might be the game of the day. I think it was just a scheduling screwup not to have one good game available to NBC

Texas - Bama??

Deion - Nebraska could be fun. Dumbo going against Miami has a lot of stakes.
I expect Bama to destroy Texas and I am apparently on an island with Deion. That seems like a team that will shock the world one week, then crap the bed the next. Dumbo is dumbo, but I understand completely why you might like that game. I get the storyline angle and those can be "good"...that doesn't always make for a good product on the field though. Sorry for the "get off my lawn" posts. Just underwhelmed at the beginning of this season.

Yeah....I'm still pretty excited about the season....this week is just "meh" to me. I get the desire to make it more than that, but it's not.

This is pretty clearly the trend moving forward as the conferences consolidate. The first few weeks of the season moving forward are likely to be similar to NFL preseason. Just the way it seems to be moving.

Boise State/UCF should be an interesting game. You know Boise State is pissed after last week’s loss. Home game on the Smurf turf should be fun.

Maybe it helps having a team to cheer for? Oregon going into Lubbock to face a pissed off Texas Tech team with a QB who got a raw deal at his old school is plenty enough entertainment for me today. Deion vs Nebraska in an hour? Yes please! Bama v Texas? What more do you need?

The shift to big OOC H&Hs kicks in more next year, which should be early season heavy. Bama will playing 2-3 a year for the next decade (as long as realignment doesn’t screw it up).

There's been good OOC games for years. No idea what he's talking about with conference expansion screwing up schedules. The expanded playoffs will create better OOC games since you aren't eliminated with a loss

True…the big difference now though they’re moving to H&H more vs Neutral Site, and schools will play a couple a year vs 1. It’s about to get really good.

Nebraska’s terrible QB spurned Norvell on signing day during his first class in 2020 I think. There’s at least a chance if he went to FSU, Travis wouldn’t be starting there today. Sometimes you get lucky.

I remember back in my day we played football in potential deadly storms......

I literally remember playing hurricane football one day when UF was closed for a hurricane day. The ball would just take off in the wind and a tree fell on a car in the parking lot while we were playing and we just kept going.

Young and stupid.
