I'd just like to pop in and say that while it was nice to at least pretend to believe in Sam, I was never, deep down, quite able to muster anything but a long shot prayer.

I would have drafted a QB last year, too. This year might be a distinct possibility, too.

Then again, it doesn't matter who were put out there behind that abomination, he'll fail, too.

Just saying, and now I'll stop.

Im trying to recover from the humiliation that was that train wreck.....few things immediate

Anyone can see Gase is awful and hurting the entire team let alone Sam...he was brought in to be an offensive wizard and has been anything but....whre as youll see Im giving Sam a bit of a pass - no such pass for Gase...he's a 2d time HC who should have much better gameplans, adjustments and leadership - he has none - he needs to go....problem if Johnsons are dumb and Gase Im sure is pointing fingers all at MAc and its not an awful argument as he did a horrific job with the $ and draft yet again....

Sam - I am so tempted to jump on the dump Sam wagon - but looking at this season it really is hard for me to rate him....he has an awful coach...still must have after effects from mono, limited weapons at best and most important of all an all time bad OL.....most QBs let alone a 22 yr old kid would get the yips after being crushed as many times as he had....how do you draft a 22 yr old kid getting teed off every other time he drops back...yet his brilliant offensive coach develops nothing to protect him - keep sending WR on long passes when he has zero time to even look.....

Im now of the camp where all capital must be spent on OL to protect him and give him some weapons before writing him off.....go back to the Brick/Mangold draft...they need to trade down and get at least 2 stud OL in draft and a good WR in draft or FA....whats the point of grabbing another top rookie QB if he gets crushed with no one to throw to...

so patience on Sam - none on Gase....next week in Met Life its going to be brutal....

I was still living in the area when Gase was hired and I don't remember anyone being excited about it. Evan Roberts (WFAN)  made a joke about him getting the job and then being pretty surprised when it happened - and quickly, also. Hard to imagine what the Johnsons saw. I guess he had a rep for being good with QBs? Anyway, even though I still have a soft spot for the Jets, I don't mind that they lost to Gase's old team.

I'm still teetering in this camp, but losing some faith that maybe we already ruined him beyond repair. I totally agree the "downfield passing" game plan is ridiculous with this offensive line. Bell drifts out of the backfield wide open and Sam is looking downfield. We have guys like Crowder, Bell and Berrios that could be effective in the short passing game and yet Gase does not adjust and instead just gets Sam killed.

It's not a good practice to keep turning over head coaches but bringing Gase back next year will only waste another year and then before we know it Sam is no longer on his rookie deal and we need to make a choice about signing him. While it won't help this year firing Gase now ensures he's not back next year and that's all I care about now.

I wish i was joking when I tell you I honestly think the Peyton Manning call got CJ so worked up and smitten that it sealed the deal.....dude screwed over the Jets twice without even being on the team

agree with all - its the Jets that are ruining Sam not other way around - hes still a kid...coming off mono and probably still not 100% plus played with his head as to getting hit....no QB can succeed in this set up so might as well stick with Sam and evaluate him next year when at least he'll have a chance....

I never dreamed they could find a worse coach than Bowles...I was wrong....if Gase is a QB whisperer then Jeremy Bates is a QB prophet.....Sam looked much better under the old regime....CJ himself said its all about developing the QB...well he looked better under a gy who doesnt even have a job in the NFL anymore....you dont keep bad coaches an xtra yr to be nice...look at the history - Kotite got a 2d yr and flamed out....writing was on the wall with Herm and Bowles....each got extra yr and were awful....never has a one and done been more clear...time to cut bait...get rid of the stupid office structure and let Douglas pick a coach who will report to him and lets move on to 2020....just hope Sam doesnt get a serious injury and/or lose all confidence the rest of yr,

We might be the only team to build around our "franchise" QB with fat d-linemen.  That's the most brutal part of our "strategy".  You would think getting linemen and weapons for your young QB would be the optimal plan. Nope.

Too bad that we can't get rid of the bad owners. We'll probably keep getting bad coaches under these clowns.

Gase seems like a #####. There's a way to have that kind of coaching style & a way not to do it.

Lawrence Taylor was once asked what he thought of Bill Parcells. His response was, "I like the guy, but man he's an #######".

Big difference. Players liked & respected Parcells.

Wow. I think The Unicorn has a big day and Miami wins.
Expect some WDIS PMs this week... :D

When looking at the potential outcomes from his hiring, Gase is pretty clearly the worst case scenario version.

I'd love to pick his brain on the job interview process. He's got to be the GOAT in that dept.

Why did The J-E-T-S Jets Jets Jets think Gase was going to be any different than what he was in Miami?

A horrible coach that the players disliked.

That's what I can't understand. How did Adam Gase and Pat Shurmur get 2nd chances at HC positions when they were clearly bad coaches the first time around?

cant speak for Shurmur....but Johnson was dazzled by a call from Peyton Manning endorsing Gase and MCCarthy got crushed in a smear campaign....most Jet fans hated the Gase hire from start

I feel for you guys. Actually I feel for any fans who have incompetent ownership because as they say "you can't fire the owner". The Redskins situation is right up there with the Jets.

So was Belichick. Sometimes people learn/grow. Shurmur had time between gigs. too. Gase is in his own category of What Were They Thinking?

Pat Shurmur got Case Keenum to play at a career level. His first chance was with the Browns. Not sure if that should count.

The fact that this ####bag coach was 2-0 against our same ####bag team last season is a testament to the overall sentiment that it doesn't matter who is coaching, playing, general managing, scouting, taping ankles, etc. if it's in green, it SUCKS.

Having said that, let's be rational gentlemen.  They won't be firing Gase this year.  Not with the salary that they'll be on the hook for, to go along with burnt money on Mac, Bowles, Enunwa et al.  I think Boomer said they would owe $20M.  But most importantly, the ability to attract any future competent coaching candidates goes even further out the window with our willingness to just light it on fire half a season in when it's clearly beyond JUST the horrible coaching.

If the Jets the 1 or 2 do they go QB and pull an Arizona Cardinals?
I doubt it. No matter how good a QB is, we'll never find out behind that crapastic o-line and horrible coaching. They will draft (I hope) o-linemen this year and see if Darnold performs better.

AS a Dolphin fan, (and a Tank for Tua person), I cannot understand why Gase is sucking in NY.As the Phins coach he managed to stay around .500 by decent game planning and some luck for sure.  He did have a penchant for throwing his players under the bus and bristling a bit at the sportswriters but overall he was a perfectly mediocre yet respectable coach.  My basic take is he just really doesn't care or the NY media is something he really cannot handle so everything else is in the crapper.  It's either that or its Darnold, but if you are going to tell me that Tannehill is somehow a more competent QB than Darnold then I don't know what to tell you.

He hasn't had an issue with the media yet.  Maybe he just isn't a good manager.  There have been many instances of him admitting to not speaking to a player for weeks or not knowing when they are hurt or going for an MRI.  Just odd.

Gase's people skills simply suck...they always have and always will.

Unfortunately he aint going anywhere till at earliest, this time next year if we are in the midst of suckage again. So we are stuck with this #### and we need to suck it up. Not sure what else to do as a fan as I'm sick and ####### tired of complaining as that's not my nature.

Meanwhile, I hate to say it, the better the draft pick, the better. But with our schedule which is pathetic, somehow we'll figure out a way to win 3-4 games and move out of the top 3 in the draft.

Hopefully Douglass who seemingly knows how to build a winning a team, has already earmarked some O-Lineman and Cornerbacks as those should be our two main areas of need. An edge rusher would be nice as well but I don't want to get greedy.

This team and my Mets drive me absolutely insane. Why oh why did my Dad have to like Joe Namath so much when he came to NY in 1964 and not YA Tittle?....lol

We are signing Josh Adams from the practice squad.  I hope it's for Ty Montgomery rather than Bell. I saw Montgomery go down early in the game. I don't recall if he played again.

I don't follow the Jets much but this is the first I'm hearing of Ty Mont being injured. In some places I was reading that Ty Mont may be a good waiver pick up with Bell hurting but now could is be Powell?

In 2 weeks Gase is going to look smart and the Jets will look proficient. Look at who they're playing that week.

Powell has been getting more snaps than Ty Montgomery for several weeks now, albeit not many snaps.
another stupid decision by Gase...they featured Ty all pre season and the guy looked pretty good....any offensive minder coach would find ways to get him a few touches per game yet he rots on the bench while Gase calls play after play of deep routes while Sam gets teed off on.....please fire him

I get a kick out of rumors. None of the Jets beat reporters (Cimini, Manish, Connor, etc) ever break news. Ever. They might come out a minute or two later to confirm what Schefter reports, but they never have any news first.  It's funny that a national guy like Schefter always breaks NY news. YET, clowns like Manish always have these hit pieces according to their "sources". Yet none of these sources ever have any news for him/them.

These guys are worse than Scott Templeton from the Wire. Manish had to smear Marrone and McCarthy.  He was all up in Gase's butt until the Jets denied the original Maccagnan getting fired rumors. They he goes on a hissyfit to ruin the next guy since all you see from him now are hit pieces on Gase (not undeserved), but when you can't break any news, I guess the next best thing is to create your own news and page hit. Shameful.

Fine, I'll say it. We're the Kings of NY. lol.

Well at least Sam looked decent. That o-line, as we have been saying all year long, is horrific. Sam is always under siege and there is no room to run. It has to priority #1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 next year.

I thought Bless Austin looked pretty good for his first game. The kid has talent. Hairston looked awful getting torched by Slayton and was luckily benched. BTW, Slayton was my key pick-up in multiple leagues this week and my key player in DFS yesterday.

Jamal Adams had a hell of a game.  The d-line looked pretty good. They did a great job against Barkley. Nathan Shepherd looked pretty good.

Nice game from D Thomas and Crowder. I thought Anderson was crappy. He had another catch ripped away from him.

Herndon played more snaps than I thought he would. He had that nice catch that was called back.

Daniel Jones is impressive for a rookie. Leo Williams had a good game against our o-line, but still couldn't get a sack. He reminds me of the "Almost" character from the Mel Gibson movie "Apocalypto" (a very good movie btw).

I never even saw the movie and I lol'd. I'll be honest, I watched a more relevant game to my fantasy contest yesterday, which was Tampa - Arizona. If you look hard enough around the league, you'll find yourself scratching your head at times about other teams' decisions, just like if you were watching the Jets, so it wasn't like I totally bailed yesterday or anything.

I loved this angle from all of the local media, that and "bragging rights" (i.e "we don't suck as much as you do").

I agree with most of what you said. Sam looked really good and that's the main thing I'm looking for the rest of the season.

I think we're stuck with Gase for this season and next, especially after they beat up on the Skins and Bengals and likely take another late season meaningless game. I don't get how they look so good for a drive or two and then the offense just disappears - but at least it came back in the 4th Q this week.

The tv guys said that Gase scripts the first 15 plays or so and then they ad lib the rest.

Now Winters and Herndon both out for the year. Lol. What a season
I honestly couldn't care less about Winters, but Herndon is a killer. Goodnight sweet prince, I hardly knew you. He's going to be a stud some day. Sucks for Sam.

I drafted Herndon in like 35 of my 40 leagues. Oh well. What a waste of a roster spot. Let's see if AJ Green can top it.

Why the heck would he announce that now?  Just another stupd move by a dumb owner.....so they lose out and continue to look horrific he's back?  I hate to give credence to when Joe B loses his mid but this ownership is ridiculous.  They kept Bowles and Mac too long and are now making the same mistake......
