Guy hasn't wanted to play for the Jets since Gase. I can't say I blame him too much. That was apparently a circus. Bad news for the Jets. The question now seems to be what they can get for him.

I might be in the minority here, but I would actually be very impressed with JD if he ended up trading Becton (pending return of course, but no reason to think he can't get at least a mid 2nd.) While I want/wanted Becton to be a franchise LT as much as the next guy, there's enough smoke around him to be worried. Move on from this mushpuddle that managed to turn a 6 week injury into an 8 month injury, and is more concerned with his social media presence, and posting completely unimpressive workout footage than actually being physically ready to perform.
If JD and co. are truly moving on from him despite the optics of trading your first high draft pick as a GM for .25 cents on the dollar 2 years later - you've got to somewhat admire the conviction that they must have in their evaluation of the situation, and that they've ultimately determined its better to cash out now and draft his replacement before you risk his value plummeting to nothing.
If they can scoop up another highish 2nd, no reason to think they won't have the pieces in place to draft one of the top tackles at 4 and then move up for Linderbaum. Sprinkle a WR in there and Zach is loaded up.

Tony Pauline is really trying to make a name for himself - I mean if it happens he looks like he broke the story - if it doesn't no one will remember. I love the "thought around the league" part - is there anything more vague or meaningless than that? As if some exec in Chicago or Jacksonville knows what the Jets are doing.
With that said I have some real mixed emotions about giving up the 1.10 (which by itself is an overpay based on Adams and Hill trades) - but if it happens I'll take solace in getting to watch Deebo each week and hope it helps Wilson take that leap he needs to.

I go back and forth but agree I could live with Deebo for #10 even though I think it is an overpay - anything over that is ridiculous IMO.
I still believe that JD's past deals indicate that he will not overpay - he loves draft picks more than Smeagol loves the one ring - I just cant see him parting with more than the #10 in this scenario...probably less.
So many moving parts with Deebo and Becton rumors - cant wait for this to be over to have clarity

Yeah, JD is not the "offer you can't refuse type" - although I guess it's possible he's gotten word that another top 5 pick season in 2022 is the nd of the line for him.
Maybe Becoton goes in a deal for Deebo - Becton and a second or something like that.

The ten alone gets Deebo if we're assessing his real value. I don't think the Jets trade Mekhi Becton and the tenth for Deebo. He's just not worth it.
People are forgetting one of the reasons for drafting instead of signing is that the value gap for WRs is so great from cost-controlled first contract vs. signing a guy in free agency. Why give up your tenth and pay Deebo? It makes little sense. Joe D. is smart. If Woody and his brother aren't in his ear, he'll stick with the picks, trade Becton, and maybe give them a second rounder for Samuel.
We shall see.

he definitely is but I think most would agree that he is not as good as Tyreek - based on that JD only offered two 2ds for Tyreek I cant see him offering more for Deebo - although the familiarity with Saleh and the OC may goad him into giving up the #10 vs the two 2ds. I cant see him giving more -
AS for Becton - I alsocant see him going to SF - I also cant see getting a 2d with al the baggage - Id be expecting a 3rd rder if he is dealt but JD is a wizard!

The WR market EXPLOADED and teams began paying premiums.
The market for PROVEN blue-chip WRs has been reset.
The market for UN-proven rookie WRs is going to be in-flux. In time the majority will disappoint and next year the market for UN-proven rookie WRs will drop.
Right now, on the brink of the draft picks are over-valued. Happens every year.
How many of the rookie WRs will produce like Debo... EVER?
I don't see it in this draft class, not a one of them will produce like Debo.

No, and he's been around foreverrrrrr, but you only hear from him when people are starved for content, and someone at a fan-based site picks it up, and people like rumors so why not, and anyone who has real sources breaks a story and the other info guys confirm it.
No one is confirming this as the #10 locked in.
The one good thing is I saw a bit from a podcast he did with Trey Wingo, and I was like, aww man, I forgot about Trey Wingo, he sucks, nice to know he's not anywhere where anyone will see him.

If he’s not running the football anymore, which appears to be the crux of his displeasure in SF, he’s not going to produce like that ever again either. He had 300+ rushing yards and 7 rushing tds last season.

The WR market exploded contractually, not from a trade market asset valuation perspective. Both Adams and Hill, significantly more 'proven' true WRs (and I really like Deebo) did not go for the value of the 10th pick, let alone adding Becton, and both also received massive new contracts like Deebo seemingly will. Deebo has an age advantage, but smaller sample size as a proven alpha pass catcher, and as was stated above, his apparent disinterest in running the ball - something that adds overall value to the entire offense and not just his stats, further brings his value to the point where I don't understand how you can think he would net more than Adams or Hill.

Fant is entering the final year of his contract, but the Jets are clearly willing the work out a new deal for the veteran tackle. He took over at left tackle in 2021 and played well enough that head coach Robert Saleh said he will compete with former first-round pick Mekhi Becton for the role in 2022. Fant also noted that he thinks his best fit is at left tackle. Becton's relationship with the Jets is reportedly on the rocks and Fant can play both tackle positions at a high level. An extension for the 29-year-old makes sense for both sides.

Possibly. We’ll see tomorrow. There are 4 guys I could see them taking where I wouldn’t be surprised. Ike would mean Becton was being shipped out I guess. Someday the Jets will keep a guy they took in Round 1 past his rookie contract - Q. Williams is getting close at least - he’s the first to get the 5th year option picked up in a long time.

Board breaking in an interesting way for Jets - they could very well be deciding between Ikem and Hutch - either could go #1 so its great value as usual.....hoping they go Hutch in that case and give Becton one more chance. Unless JD can pull off a magic deal for Becton Ikem feel like a sideways move....a DL of Q, Lawson and Hutch is very intriguing!

I agree on Becton and still really don't get the hate there - I hope he gets another shot.
I really hope there's a WR pick at 10, but would understand if they went CB and Edge with those first two picks - I just hate the idea of settling for the 6th best WR but in this class a guy like Pickens may turn out to be just as good as guys like Wilson or London.

So much negative stories in the last few days on Becton - today was that he was over 400 lbs last season - has to be either JD preparing us for Ikem/Becton deal or another team trying to trade for Becton and wanting the price to drop
Totally agree as to WRs - have to think thats one of the 2 picks or they trade up - cant imagine JD going after Tyreek and Deebo and settling for a 2d rd flyer with upside.
My dream 1st rd is Hutch at #4 ...Jameson at #10 - full blown ecstasy if they trade up from the 2d to late 1st to grab Lindy at Center for 3 stud 1st rders....and still another 2d on day 2!

Walker/Hutch/Sauce were 1st 3 picks in both sims. I would have taken Sauce at least in one of them.

Woke up this morning with a weird calmness/clarity.
I sort of realized that's there's really very little reason to be nervous about tonight. If this regime is going to fail, they've already made the decision that will probably cause that (drafting Wilson)
Obviously they can't screw up tonight but in the grand scheme of things....tonight is really just the difference between being good and really good (if we assume Wilson is a top half of the league qb 2 years from now). If he's not, it's a restart anyway.

Counterpoint, maybe they don't love the WRs in this draft and don't think any of them are worth the 10th pick so they were trying to use their draft capital to get a sure thing?
I've always been against WRs in the top 10 and I'll still die on that hill. That's especially true for me in this draft when you can't find a consensus on which WR you should draft there. I get that the idea of "settling" for the 2nd round scraps doesn't seem appealing, but we landed Moore in the 2nd last year (6th WR taken) and I'm pretty happy about that. Also the guys getting traded and signed to big contracts, or who are rumored to be traded (Hill, Adams and then Deebo) were all 2nd round picks that every team passed on. There is no Ja'Marr Chase in this draft (MAYBE Williams is on that level if he never got hurt), so I'm completely fine with not reaching for a dollar store version at pick 10.
