Anyone watch Flight 2022 yet?  I just finished ep 3. They're a bit long, but cool.

Ep 2 was about our free agency.

Ep 3 was free agency continued into Pro days. Looking forward to the next one about the Draft.

Where can we watch it?

Yeah, they were pretty great. Hard not to get amped up and BELIEVE based on those vids. Seems really clear that they have a plan and are really confident in what they've done.

Have to say that its just so weird watching Woody Johnson talk to the draftees on the phone or interact with the football people in any way. I know that most owners are just rich old white guys with very little connection to sports, but he just comes across as a complete and total fish out of water.  And the fact that he's always wearing a cap (usually with a suit) doesn't help. It just makes him look like a poser.

I'm on the draft episode (#4) now. It sounds like Sauce was the guy they clearly wanted. Maybe their #1 overall since they didn't even react when they the pass rushers were drafted. They were ecstatic when Houston didn't take him.

Yeah, Woody is always cringe-worthy. Chris wasn't as bad, but yeah, these owners always seem out of place.

Watched the first one and then skipped to the draft. Great show. Sauce was the guy they all wanted. You could tell Saleh may have wanted a lineman, but in the end it was Gardner. I wanted him, too, when considering the options. Well, actually, I wanted a left tackle, but Sauce will do just fine, thank you. I loved the pick more the more I heard about him in April and that episode clinched it. Three years without a touchdown in college. Picks and hits galore. 6'3" with speed and short-area speed to boot. Everything seems awesome. Glad to get Wilson -- I might have preferred Jameson Williams, but they can't afford another lost year, or so it seems.

And then the trade back up to get Johnson was killer with that backstory.

Just a good watch. Thanks @NYRAGE

I thought the first one was a bit on the fluff side. The second one with free agency was pretty good. The next 2 episodes about the Draft were the most interesting to me. The 5th one was about rookie mini-camp and it was ok.  These things definitely hype you up.

So apparently our QB was banging his mom's best friend.

And his GF left him for HIS best friend/college WR.

Mormons.....

I mean...I think we all knew the mom was a potential distraction. Clearly way too into the limelight.

Of course, this particular distraction was not what I was thinking we'd see.

Good thing its happening now and not in August, I guess.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports Jets RB Breece Hall will sign his rookie deal.

Hall, a second-round pick in the 2022 draft, is among the last rookies to hold out on a contract, presumably wanting more guaranteed money than the Jets were willing to offer their new RB1. Look for Hall to come to terms with the team and enter training camp as the No. 1 back in what will likely be a run-first New York offense. Michael Carter, an excellent pass catcher and solid rusher, could see some snaps as the No. 2 back.

Pics with a copy of today's newspaper or I'm skeptical.

Seriously though...hope he's in shape and productive

Glad hall is gonna get signed on time. Elite rookie rbs are tricky. They have to scratch for more given how they often get screwed (relatively speaking) on their future deals.

The Tweets are dated and come from third parties.

Jets placed EDGE Carl Lawson (Achilles) on active/PUP list.

Lawson announced back in May that he expected to be ready for the start of training camp after suffering a torn Achilles last season, however that doesn't appear to be the case. The 27-year-old EDGE is in the second year of a three-year deal as he now looks to rebound from a lost 2021 campaign. Once activated, Lawson will join a tandem of pass rushers that include first-rounder Jermaine Johnson and veterans Vinny Curry and Jacob Martin.

I understand Lawson, guy is coming back from a legitimate catastrophic injury.  Fant had surgery at the end of the season etc.  Maybe this will prove to just be a formality and Becton will be ready to go early in TC.  I heard mention somewhere this AM he might be battling cartilage damage now but I cannot find a link.

Nonetheless, he doesn't inspire much confidence that even if he is ready to go week 1, that we should expect to have him for 17 games.  So many injuries in so few games played.  Clearly doesn't take care of his body - his weight fluctuation tells you all you need to know about that.  I promise you that guy is walking inflammation and will be a threat for at least soft tissue injuries throughout his career until he makes a legitimate lifestyle adjustment.

IMO, this has the potential to look very, very bad on Douglas.  I/we have lauded him for his work in the trade markets, a lot of his picks seem like they're turning into NFL players, and he and Saleh have done a pretty good job with creating a high character environment; but his wagon is hitched to Wilson and Becton right now.  We were in prime position to get any of the top T this year to really fortify OL as a position of strength, and JD reaffirmed his faith in Becton by passing.  Now here we are about 10 months removed from his injury, close to camp, and the guy is still not able to perform football activities.  I pray I'm wrong about the guy, but I would hate for his immaturity to ultimately be what stalls out [some of] Wilson's development this year, which could ultimately put us into a QB tailspin again.

Hopefully this is just a technicality and he's ready to roll.  I'm just hoping come training camp, he can improve on taking less than 43 seconds to get back to his feet from being on all fours while stretching, but maybe I'm being greedy.

I'm sure some people (not necessarily here, but in general) will say "if he's ready for the season, who cares"? Well, EVERYONE should care.

For an individual like Becton (who has all the physical gifts in the world), his ceiling will be determined by the practice reps he puts in and the technique he is able to pick up. None of that is happening right now. He's still "getting healthy" and "getting into shape".  I'll certainly buy that the initial time table for the injury (where he might have come back in 6-8 weeks) was overly aggressive and not realistic.  But the season ended like 8 months ago. If he wanted to be ready.....he'd be ready.

And of course, his absence as an individual limits the reps that the group gets together...and creates uncertainty for Fant...as we dont know what position he'll be playing in September.

The whole thing just ticks me off.  I know Becton just had a kid...so I WANT to give him a pass. But at some point, you need to ACTUALLY put the work in and be ready to do your job.....not just pretend to be ready through Instagram clips and make little "I'll show you" comments to the media.

In a year or 2 the Jets are gonna have to make a decision on paying this guy. How can you POSSIBLY justify paying him as a starting LT right now? Its a franchise destroying disaster waiting to happen. Supposed "good guys" (Mo Wilkerson anyone? Dude was a choir boy until that 2nd contract hit his bank account) have mailed it in once this team gave them $50M dollars.

Yup....looks like he'll be able to actually stand up after stretching. So definitely a positive sign.

Now we see if he can actually block anyone. Certainly wasn't the case last summer.

Edit: really just want to clarify that I'm 100% rooting for Becton. Snark aside I obviously want him to succeed.  He's incredibly fun to watch when he's right

And I’m poking fun of social media with the thread title, not the people in here. I know some were outspoken about Becton (and may still be right) but you guys come at it with knowledge and “expectations” and not irrational rants and certainly not hoping to be right.

Now let’s see how quickly he actually comes off PUP. I’m optimistic but also realistic enough to know we still just don’t know either way.

ETA: guess he’s off PUP per Conroy’s link.

Awesome news. I was worried. I hope he displays a commitment that people haven't yet attributed to him. Young people go through maturity and growing pains issues to become upstanding people and professionals all the time. No reason this can't be different.

Best of luck to him. I hope he utterly freaking crushes.

I feel a whole lot better about the Jets and their team with this development. Left tackles are foundation pieces. Let's hope ours is set and ready to go by the time the season starts. Let's hope he's rededicated himself to living the professional life and stomps daisies out there. Three more years of cost control with Becton, if I'm not mistaken. So far today, trending upward!

Wow. Saleh just came right out with it.

Becton is the RT, Fant is the LT. Not a competition.

Becton just potentially lost a LOT of money.

You have to wonder if this coaching staff isn't a little prejudiced against guys that were drafted before they got there. They were chirping about Mims through leaks and whatnot before they even set foot in Jersey. And now, no competition? Is that because they re-signed Fant or what's the story here?

Well, not if he performs well at RT. People know he can play LT - and he may get some chances there between now and the time he’s due for a new contract.

Saleh’s quote did seem a little nasty (although I’ve only read it so it’s hard to tell the tone.)

“Mekhi’s left-tackle days are over,” Jets’ HC Robert Saleh told reporters today.

Just seems an odd way to phrase it - almost like it’s a punishment.

Cool. I believed you, I just couldn't find it. Still can't, but I'm sort of an technology interface/software moron.

Obviously schefter just copied cimini's comments, which proved to be incorrect.  Then Jets Twitter mocked cimini and bullied schefter for the next hour.

Twitter is great sometimes

Do you have a link?  I'd like to read that.  Schefter deserves it

Jets coaches obviously feel that the line is better with Fant on the left and Becton on the right.  I don't think that's on Becton. Fant is way more comfortable on the left side and this is better for the team in 2022.

What happens going forward I guess depends on what happens this year. Was last year an outlier for Fant at LT? Can Fant stay healthy and play well to get his next contract?

Regarding Becton, he played RT in college. Can he stay healthy all season? Can he manage to get through one game without getting hurt? Can he perform well? He looked like crap last summer.  If Fant doesn't pan out, maybe they move Becton over to LT next year.

Can Max Mitchell learn quickly to be ready for a full time role in 2023 or is he basically a back-up swing tackle? Lots to determine this year before we can even talk long-term or even next year.

As far as losing money goes, well, that's on him. He has never really been available because he has been out of shape and slow to recover.  Right now, he is the 14th highest paid RT based on his rookie deal. If he plays great at RT, he can get paid really well. The top 5 RTs make over $17m a year. Less than LTs, but still a lot.  An average LT make more than an average RT. How he gets paid depends on how well he does, but he has the opportunity to get paid really well if he performs to his potential. Getting and staying in good shape is a lesson he hopefully learned. That's step 1. Step 2 is performing on the field.

I know the Jets are an easy target and FBGs has always been one to pile on but the latest Audibles Pre-Season Watchlist podcast goes above and beyond on the Jets bashing to the point of making up dysfunction.

Mostly Cecil was the one telling the “story” but Sigmund chimes in “knowingly” that there’s a rift between Douglas and Saleh over Zach Wilson. They both claimed at least 4 times that Saleh does not like Wilson and doesn’t want to start him but Douglas is “forcing his hand” and that there’s all this dissension between the HC and the front office.

Where is this BS coming from?

I mean....how could that be remotely possible?
