Rumors of Jets in on Denver Chubb for a 1st rder and possible extension - -not sure what to think and then I saw Miami was the other bidder....think this is JD making sure Miami pays the price - 3D chess lol

With Moore being ignored again and his comments after the game...ive gone from a 0% chance that he is dealt to 50%/50% - JD/Saleh really dont like malcontents. They have the leverage with his contract but I now think if they can get something close to value they may deal him. This is getting bad.

I've said it before and I'll say it again - would LOVE to acquire Minshew this offseason to bring in some competent competition for Zach, while also serving as a more than serviceable backup who provides some actual upside.
I fully agree that serious veteran (not another highly drafted rookie) competition needs to be brought in, but am not convinced Minshew is that guy. Haven’t researched which vets will be free agents, but with the incoming rookie crop looking strong, perhaps some proven vets will shake loose around the league.

Zach didn't look good today. It wasn't even that he was confused by coverages or that Belichick out-schemed the Jets or anything like that. He just completely, unprofessionally didn't take care of the ball from the end of the second quarter to the beginning of the fourth.

I guess those are the lumps you're going to take in your first year or so of actual starts, but that was especially painful today. I hope he learns you can't just flip the ball downfield and have it land incomplete.

He showed flashes today. I'll give him that. If you just looked at the stat line, you might have thought, "not bad" for his second time against Belichick, but it was harder to watch.

Thing is, if you get him in any sort of rhythm he can make great throws and be precise and accurate. I watched the game with my brother today. He's a Giant fan. Wilson made throws today that my brother was marveling at and then my brother was stunned by how he didn't take care of the football and threw hopping or off of his back foot into nowhere in that stretch of play. It nuked his whole day.

Oh well. I knew missing Breece would be huge. Perhaps -- perhaps -- there's a silver lining in all these clouds and that's that we'll get a full year to see if Zach has it or if he doesn't. This really doesn't fall on the coaching or GM right now. It's that you have a team that's sort of ready and a remedial quarterback.

PFF tweeted out the other day that when kept clean, Zach has one of the higher completion rates in the league. When under pressure, he's bad. Like Sam Monson pointed out it was historically bad, and that at some point you have to factor that in to any analysis about Zach (PFF claims that clean pocket stats are more predictive of QB success in the long run than stats under duress).

Anyway, another day, another dollar, another way to live with a life so intolerable. Meet the Jets.
most QBs in the NFL have enough skill and talent to be functional in "clean" pockets
welcome to fantasy land if you expect a QB to see many of those in game conditions

Sadly, this is where I'm at too. Although, to be fair, they basically ignored Berrios on Sunday as well.

I cant figure out if LaFleur knows what he's doing. Occasionally he draws up some very creative (and often effective) misdirection type plays that produce big chunks of yardage. But he seems to completely discount a lot of the play types that would seem to fit some of his most talented players (Like Moore)

Where are the slants? Where are the bubble screens? Where are the drag routes? If they wanted to extend his punishment by ignoring him in his first week after his break...that was really stupid. This was one of the easier wins left on the schedule and a must-win in the eyes of the fan-base to validate the progress they've made....and they blew it.

Agreed- glad they kept Moore....but its on the OC to figure out how to use these weapons - you do see flashes of great gameplanning then it morphs into send everyone deep and have Wilson run around

The fact that Joe Flacco, Mike White and Josh Johnson all had 400+ passing yard games in this offense tells me it's not the OC, and it's Wilson. I've seen some creative play-calling.

What I will say, is I know Zach is on the "smaller" side - but I don't get why they don't encourage him to run more and/or have any QB designed runs. Zach's best trait is avoiding the pass rush, but he's not able to stop and set up well and makes some dangerous/dumb throws while on the run. It seems many of those times, he has 10 yards of field in front of him after avoiding the rush, but instead makes some off balanced dangerous pass. Look what Mac Jones (who runs like Brady) was doing. He was gaining yards in chunks on the ground and he's a zero athlete.

100%. Gotta make teams pay if they rush aggressively, drop everyone else into coverage and dont spy. Seems like Wilson hasn't learned that yet (or has been told not to)

Appreciate this comment a lot.
Nothing was resolved and the Jets are in the thick of the Playoff race, however I understand how that arc has taken a big hit over the last 2 games with the loss of Hall and then Wilson at QB having a lousy outing vs the Patriots.

I think Moore could see himself healthy inactive on the horizon and that would be really bad. If they continue to limit his touches or snaps or whatever, I'm not sure Elijah will keep his mouth shut the rest of the way.

I don't think i would like t if Cedric Wilson was asking for his release or trade now that he is buried on the depth chart. Or the Rookie WR we got EZ E, I wouldn't like it if he was unhappy about being inactive every week. I really understand how Jets' fans feel but you also must understand fans outside of the Jets and also Moore has a right to say "This sucks for me long team in the NFL"

Tough spot for everyone involved

:blackdot:

Great comment and observations, 100% agree with this and excellent job pointing to what Flacco and JJ have done.

I think this week is it for me on whether I'm pro or anti Zach going forward. Yes, it's really taken me this long, I'm really trying to stick with the kid. I know it's against Buffalo so I'm not expecting a career day. Just want good, all good, all game...consistency. So tired of this roller coaster ride, need to get off at some point. So best of luck this Sunday, Mr. Wilson.

Awesome job fellas, didn't give the Jets a fighting chance today.
I didn't watch much of the game, was glued to the Phins and only saw a couple minutes on RedZone
What was the keys to the game and how did you all stop the Bills or keep them to 17?

Bills 6-2...losses to the Jets and Phins
Jets 6-3
Phins 6-3
Pats 5-4

Rush four, still get reasonable pressure, really good play in the secondary. Sauce is all that, so is D.J. Reed. They're a formidable group. I can't tell you what the exact schematics were, at one point the announcers were talking about zone, but it seemed like a lot of man at the corners.

6-3 and headed into the bye. If you told me that at the beginning of the year, I'd have been over the moon.

If you told me we were still essentially hiding our QB out there, I would have been much more level-headed about where we stand. So it is.

This season is all about Zach Wilson's development. He looked okay today. That last drive they just pounded the rock. Breece was missed because he would have housed the third run from scrimmage that Robinson got about fifteen on.

But a great effort all around. Hard to dislike this team or what they're doing. I hope they keep winning.

yea all DLine and secondary, and they ran the ball well, especially late. Robinson and Carter were a good duo today.

I was happy to see it was the national game today. First full live game this year (I usually watch red zone and the replay).

At this point, this missing piece of this D is a Swiss army knife do it all LB with cover skills. Mosely is perfectly fine and obviously a leader but he's lost a step from his Baltimore days.

Obviously a true super stud outside rusher would be great as well (but doesn't seem necessary based on hoe much pressure they're creating)

Q will matched his season high in sacks today. Kid is gonna get a huge deal this spring

It was almost like a “box and 1” in basketball, in that it seemed the Jets went man coverage on Diggs, with Reed and Sauce, but the rest of the defense played zone.

It really is just fascinating to watch the pass rush. Even guys like Sheppard (who is a total JAG) can make plays because EVERYONE has to be accounted for. I mean....how about the Sack by Johnson yesterday. Allen was out on the edge with plenty of space in front of him, and JJ closed and tripped him up JUST in time. That was a game changing play from the rookie. Clemens is always in the mix as well.

In terms of the standings, this unexpected win basically makes up for the let down against NE. But now they need to come out of the bye, go up to Foxboro and steal one more. Seriously can't believe its November 7th and I'm bummed at having to wait 2 weeks to watch the Jets play.

And FYI......Q Williams played 74% of the snaps yesterday. I'm all for rotating MOST of the guys to keep them fresh (hoping JJ gets more snaps as the season goes on, as he has shown growth) but you have to play Q as long as he can go. He's that impactful. 60% was just not cutting it.

There's a lot of green pride bleeding thru these posts, it's obvious you all feel the Defense is turning a corner and starting to come together as a unit. I hate talking coach speak or being vanilla about it but it does feel like those times when you watch a team grow up in front of your eyes.

Beating Buffalo is huge for the psyche, Jets are going to be a dangerous team, I just wish i could have seen Hall be the centerpiece and backbone of this '22 Run you all are pushing forward with.
I know I'm not telling you anything you can't see for yourself but the evolution of Wilson and perhaps getting the WRs making more plays, that's going to be key over the next few games.
Great win, great effort by the Gang Green Defense

i hope to see more of the Jets-Bills today, I record all of RZ so I can replay it after Miami but yesterday I was delirious and so i'll replay some of it this afternoon/tonight. I love to watch Allen struggle since he usually rips right thru a defense.

Fantastic win.

Offense - did what they had to do - OL held firm with a bunch of backups. ZW managed the game, didnt make awful turnovers and made some plays when he had to. RBs looked good and pounded the ball in that last drive. GW is going to be special - Moore is still lost and in Saleh and possibly ZW doghouse. Still a work in progress but solid enough to make a run...as much as im enjoying this season knowing next year will have the return of OL, Hall and company is really encouraging

Defense - elite now and ready for a run - DL played great - DBs are fantastic - still would like a stud LB but thats for next year - even the quiet 1st rounder Johnson made a huge play

Coaching - they were prepared - for the most part solid playcalling - loved the emotion from Saleh

Best win since NE playoff game - going to enjoy the bye!

So, based on what we've seen so far.....would you swap zach for Justin fields if given the chance?

Obviously he had his struggles early. And we still don't know each guys ceiling as a passer. But fields running ability is just game changing.

We all loved the guy after the show he put on in the national semi finals. I still think it was a mistake passing on him.

I ddint like passing on Fields from the start. After they lost the #1 and after that Ohio St run I figured Fields as the clear #2. I cant see how you can pass on his skills and how he did against top notch competition for essentially potential. But then several other teams passed on him so something must have been up - and of course polished prospect from big school doesnt always end up being better than the potential from a smaller program prospect - see Darnold v. J Allen

I watched this game at a sports bar since I was in NY and wanted to watch all the early games. This was the most I have watched them this season and their D is legit. Sauce Gardner looks like a tremendous pick and could be a shut down corner for years to come. While watching the game I was most impressed that Jets fans can spell Jets :).

I am a Bears fan and was watching that game as well. I do think that the Jets missed out by not drafting Fields but overall I think they have done a good job of building the team with talented players and they could be good for years to come.

Zach Wilson is pretty athletic in his own right - albeit nowhere close to Fields. They really should take more advantage of that as I've said before. Either he himself or the coaching staff seem very reluctant to let that happen which is odd, since it's been so successful for other offenses.

I don't know if I would, and I'm not sure I would have back then. Fields's holding the ball and taking sacks has proved to be the same bugaboo in the pros as it was in college. Wilson is terrible so far under pressure, but he doesn't take sacks like Fields does. And I'm talking about sacks that are charted as the QBs fault -- in other words, that he takes too long in getting the ball out.

I was never sold on Fields and was open to Wilson being the better of the two back then. I still think Wilson might be better, and only development is going to be able to provide us with the answer. Fields looked great against Green Bay last year, too, before putting up these utter duds at the beginning of the year (aside from Dallas and Miami).

It's still all about Trevor Lawrence and how Adam Gase fired up the Jets to go out and beat the Rams, of all teams, on their way to 2-14.

I dont want to be greedy - last game's win vs the Bills was amazing. However - to truly put behind the last decade of losing they need to step up and beat the Pats. They are the better team and blew an easy win last time around...I want to see

the coaches respond with a solid gameplan and not get outcoached again....t

the good ZW in this big litmus test for him

Elijah Moore get out of the doghouse and have plays drawn up for him to get involved early

Defense take control early and shut down that mediocre Pats O

I can’t believe they moved the game with weather this moderate. Wussies. NFL has gone soft.

/s
And to think... the conditions at the stadium are not even the real reason they moved the game. It was just to allow snow clearing/emergency resources to focus on the general public, as opposed to a football game.

Not gonna lie - I woulda rather watched snowpocalypse game.

Personally I think this topic should be merged with the Bills topic.

Maybe the Giants topic, too.

NY is NY is NY.

Oh, wait - don’t some of them play in New Jersey?

He's absolute and total trash. If you can't see it by now I dont know what to say.

Its 2022....the NFL has done EVERYTHING possible to allow teams to move the ball and score points. and he just had negative passing yards in a half. Literally can't complete 7 yard screen passes. I'm not sure he's even a backup quality player.

If this team had even league-average QB play they'd be top 5 in the league. If they had that and a healthy Hall they'd be a super bowl contender. (even with the O-line injuries)

They will waste this group of young talent if they dont go get someone else next Spring. (preferably a free agent).

Total joke.

Yeah, he sucks. That team is ready to win now except at the QB position.

Wilson was awful - if there was ever a time for a QB change to give a spark this was it and Saleh refused - doubled down after the game. ZW is going to finish this season even if it costs them the playoffs - which it already may have done. Literally any other QB in the NFL and they sweep the Pats.

Im betting Jimmy G is signed in the offseason - not sure if that is much better but cant be any worse.

I hope the Jets don't do what the Giants have done with Jones and let it go for 4 years until they make a decision. Neither NY team has it's long term QB right now.

I think that would be fine, as long as the long term plan isn't affected by the signing.

Meaning, I think the Jets should be looking for their long term QB. If they sign Jimmy G, the Jets still should be looking for their long term QB. I would not want my team to be like, we got Jimmy G, we good now.

Not much to say - as Jets a loss as there’s ever been. The game winning punt return actually bothered me less than the decision two plays earlier on 3rd and 1 to throw an ill-advised screen about three yards short of the sticks. How about hammering it with Robinson or sneaking it with Zach. Of course, even if they got the 1st there, probably little chance of ZW getting them down to FG position.

Running out of excuses for Zach - even the easy passes were overthrown or the WRs
