Continue your Jets parallel. It's in there somehow.
JD passes on Curtain #1, Derek Carr, because Curtain #2 just seems so alluring. Curtain #2 opens to reveal Aaron Rodgers in a Raiders jersey - JD is allowed to trade that in for the Mystery Box. Excitement builds, until the box breaks open to reveal Carson Wentz in Kelly Green.
Its funny but horrifically possible!

I cant fathom trying to see that to the Jets fans- there has to be a few contingency plans we are not even considering......what if Balt and NYG non-exclusive tag Lam/D Jones - I dont think it would be awful to deal 2 1std rather than a reality of Wentz/Brisset or even Jimmy G.

Saints to sign Carr.

Lol, I told you yesterday that Carr leaning to the Jets was a message to the Saints to up their offer.
JD officially all in on A-Rod......hope he has a deal in place with GB as this hurts his leverage.

One crazy A-Rod message/podcast from a reality of Jimmy G, Brisset, Wentz....

Haven't we suffered enough? I don't know about you guys, but I just turned 56 and have suffered for 52 years with this franchise.
51 and no super bowl in my lifetime - dad use to take me to Shea from when I was 6 yrs old. Some of my best memories was going to the Diamond Club after the game and see Klecko throwing down beers with fans. The worst memories are too many to mention

My only memories of Shea were freezing almost every single time. I was at the last game at Shea against Pittsburgh. Another ugly game.

My most memorable game the Flying Lawnmower game against the Pats that landed & killed a woman in the stands at halftime. Terrible. Just a super cold and windy game. Even my hot chocolate was frozen. Not the brightest idea to be flying a lawnmower over the stadium. I hope somebody got sued to hell.

They might want to keep Mike White as a back-up.
I don't anticipate a huge market for him, but from a cap perspective paying Jimmy G around $28-30MM while also carrying Wilson's no. 2 overall pick salary will make it tough to also sign Mike White at around $8MM a year.
Also if they're truly looking to develop Zach, he has to be the No. 2 on the depth chart or he'll never get enough snaps during the week to develop.

I was also there for the infamous flying lawnmower game - whoever approved that idea was insane. They had multiple things flying (i remember a plane and a snoopy doghouse or something) -

I pray they dont pay that much for Jimmy G - he couldnt find any team to give him over $10M last yr and he promptly got hurt again. Good point on the ZW getting reps tho - thats why I think Rodgers is the top option for them - ZW idolizes him and they have a good relationship - somehow they see A-Rod coaching him up and Zach takes over in 2 yrs and JD's bust pick is vindicated. I dont see it but it seems they have that as a fantasy- I think White is going to be left out.

Wasn't it a night game? Something like 3-0 at the half? Yeah, they had all kinds of flying objects. Then they announced the lawnmower like it was the featured wrestler on WWF (I'm old).

I was thinking $20m max. Yikes. I also thought White would be lucky getting $4-5m.

I'm fine with Jimmy G. He will be a lot cheaper than Rodgers and Carr and has proven he can capably put the ball in the hands of his playmakers - and has won. He's got an injury history obviously, but those can happen to anyone.

I’m basing it off supply/demand and perhaps inflated the numbers a bit, but I do see Jimmy G somewhere around $25MM realistically.

Pivoting to A-Rod - all signs point to a trade to me. If he was staying or retiring I would think there is no reason to delay that announcement. Most likely is there is discussions behind the scenes for a possible deal. At least I am hoping!

So ... Rodgers is a -170 favorite to go to the Raiders, and that's even an "IF not GB" prop. If that happens, who the heck is sitting down in the Jets chair when the music stops?

Signed, hopeful Garrett Wilson (and Elijah Moore) owner

I could be wrong, but Raiders as the favorite makes very little sense to me - their defense is terrible and KC/LAC are still in the way

Sounds like they could use a top QB? But ... I get what you mean -- a short-term, high-dollar, "let's go for it all, now is the time" star QB contract is probably not the wisest direction to go. Especially since they just had Carr and still missed the playoffs. (Though they had a terribly unlucky/unplucky season which could have turned out a lot better.)

The Raiders are in a rebuild imo

Carr has a wife and 4 kids
New Orleans much better spot than NYC with that kind of obligation.
Carr is pretty happy being married and that factored into things.
He met with the Jets twice, if they wanted him they would have made a strong offer
I don't know that Carr was going to take the Jets storming into the Playoffs
I wouldn't cry about it if I were the Jets.

The team doesn’t play in NYC and none of the players live there. They live in affluent NJ suburbs.
Joe Namath spent many nights in NYC
Maybe they should change the name to the Jersey Burb'n Jets or something

All that said, tough place for trying to raise 4 kids, you can disagree, no sweat.
Louisiana and it's southern charm was just too much for him.
Pralines and $150M will do that to a man and his family
;)

He was yours for the taking, obviously the Jets have better options than Carr
What exactly those options are remain a mystery at this hour
Next!

Marcus Mariota is looking for work

Well one of us knows what we’re talking about here but feel free to disagree with him.
It was a factor in his decision, it was discussed nationally, don't make this personal
And i gave you plenty in that post to chuckle at
Cheers!
You’re saying that it’s tough to raise four kids in NJ making $40MM a year. It’s a silly ignorant statement.

You're saying that
The national media says his family was a major part of his decision making process
That's extremely ignorant to deny Carr's family didn't have a major role in him choosing the Saints.

Can you take a deep breath and try to not be so arrogant and condescending?
I'll try one more time but I have a bad feeling...
Cheers again

MoP those weren’t good faith posts. They were trolling. NO is a high-crime, violent city compared to the NJ/NY area. It’s not even close.
There are 3 more sentences in that post after the family side of things.
I think I was very fair actually and said if the Jets wanted Carr he would have been in a green uniform on Visit 1, do you disagree?
I also mentioned there isn't a lot to cry about here for Jets fans so it's hard to troll folks that aren't that torn up him signing in New Orleans.

I have no idea what I denied about Carr’s decision making, but I learned a valuable lesson again.
Have a good one.

I'm in Texas and I have been to Louisiana many times. Although New Orleans can be fun, "southern charm" is the last thing I would say about that place or state. Traveling through that state makes me yearn to reach Mississippi and Alabama. More dangerous than NYC in my opinion. Oof, I just pulled up the crime stats for New Orleans and it's pretty horrific compared to NYC. Jersey burbs can be pretty nice.

Regarding the whole NY vs NJ thing, yeah, it's a sore spot for many. Sharing a stadium with another team in Jersey is a joke.

Regarding the next QB: anyone, but Wilson....except Wentz, Mariota, and those of that ilk.

Obviously the whole area around met life is a dump.

But a Jets player (and their family) only has to go there 10x a year. The team facility is in Florham Park (a perfectly nice area) and like 3 of the top 15 wealthiest counties in the US are within a half hour drive.

Parts of area are obviously lousy but "jersey is a crap hole" is a lazy narrative

Per sources. Aaron Rodgers and the Jets had conversations today. While nothing is imminent Rodgers is open to the idea of going to NY

luckily he doesn’t have kids to worry about. Imagine raising four kids on the mean streets of Chatham.
You guys are reading too much into things. Carr's family had a circle prayer. It took 2 seconds for them to choose New Orleans because of the name "Saints". Kind of like girls picking the color of helmets or which animal is tougher when they pick which team will win.

Btw, Connor Hughes, Zack Rosenblatt, and others have confirmed that the Jets did talk to Rogers yesterday who somehow still hasn't made a decision despite not wanting to drag things out.

Good thing Dirty Aaron Rodgers likes to live dangerously and in sin.

By the way the funniest part of this narrative about Carr is that he played the last few seasons in "Sin City" - but NYC/NJ is too scary for him.

Outside of MOP, I can't recall anyone else even suggesting this. Have you?

For the record, MOP has been a consistently positive contributor to this thread (especially for a rival fan). So....not trying to bust his chops too badly here.
