just fyi, i been updating my post on the first page (like half way down) of this thread with FA statuses if u ever need a quick look. gonna update White signing now.

With Penny, Scott, Gainwell, and Trey Sermon having 1 year left on his deal, I seriously doubt we use one of our (limited amount of) draft picks on a RB next month.

More likely they take UDFA swing there.

If Slay comes back, does this take us out of the 1st round CB market? I know if the right player is there we'll always take him, but might not be the big need we thought we had and could mean a trade back for sure (unless a stud de slips)

If that’s the market for a CB like Bradberry (even factoring in a hometown discount), I think we see Slay take the restructure which opens up cap and then CJGJ re-signs, too.
Would be such a dream.

Then we can just focus on the trenches in the draft.

I'm kinda just catching up on things with Philly because I've been following Chicago's train ride, but Howie really deserves a ton of credit. The man is a master manipulator of the cap and it would not shock me if they still have the money to re-sign CJGJ and get Hurts his new contract. Hell, I think Slay might even decide to agree to a restructure, but that might be out of necessity.
You also can't count out the team culture when it comes to keeping these FA. Kelce, Graham, Hurts are all key to this. The players genuinely seem to love the team and city and will do what it takes (within reason I guess) to stay.

Cardinals Sign Kyzir White 2/11M

So looks like Dean and either a signing or another Draft guy. At this point you can't even rule out Howie trading back from Ten and even trading out of the last 1st rounder for more picks. They really need to add young cheap talent right now

ya apparently it's 1 year but no clue on dollar amount yet. I don't mind if we take a RB late rounds I guess.
Only makes sense to go Gainwell, Penny and a rookie at this point.
Yeah man. The dream of Bijan (even though it would cost a lot) seems to be just that. Realistically was hoping for Gibbs, but it might be a later guy in the 3rd/4th round vs a higher pick at this point.

You can get a good guy late. One guy I've been drafting late in mocks is Christian Rodriquez JR from Kentucky. If he's there later half of the 6th round I think he could be a steal. if they want to go Early the guy from UCLA or Zach Evans From Ole Miss are options.

it was a long shot, but there was speculation re: howie's ties with Kareem Hunt. guess that's not possible now. i'm a little disappointed, hunt > penny imo, as a player.

Hunt is a scumbag who shouldn't even be playing football right now. Honestly would be pissed if we signed that guy.

Wow, he was the guy I thought for sure was a goner. Can we *still* also somehow get CJ back??
Good job there, they definitely chose the right CB to keep imo. It looks more and more like the BPA at 1.10 will be CB to pair with Bradberry.

Knowing Howie I see him trading back on this one. Wouldn't be surprised if he gets to 15 he trades down a bit further to add more picks.

I think it depends on Slay. If they lose him, you could get his replacement at 10. You'd likely have your pick of the position since most mocks have the first CB going around than.

Unless Jaylen Carter is sitting there at 10, I'll be mildly surprised if they don't trade back.

Stolen from Sheil Kapadia, over the last two years there have been 56 RB's with at least 150 carries. Out of those 56 Rb's Penny is #1 in YPC and yards after contact.

Also per Sheil if you go all the way back to the year 2000 there have 247 RB's with at least 300 carries. Penny is one of them and is #1 in YPC.

In the last two years Penny is also #2 in the league in explosive plays per run.
Good stuff right here. Now imagine with this OL.

Rule #1: You can't help the club in the tub. Penny is peanut brittle. If they get 8 healthy games out of him, then they're ahead of the game.

Right. Also from Sheil: he’s only had 10 or more rushes in 5 consecutive games once in his 5 seasons.

It’s low risk/high reward.

Today would be a great day to announce CJ Gardner-Johnson is coming back and Slay is for sure too.

Would they have to restructure Slay first before doing a CJGJ deal?
Ya know, I don't know much, but I believe a couple of big contracts like Lane Johnson restructure could make some instant avail cap room.

According to overthecap (https://overthecap.com/salary-cap/philadelphia-eagles)

Slay restructure opens $12.2M
Johnson restructure opens $10.5

Cutting or trading Slay doesn't really do much for Philly unless it's post June 1. Restructure seems like the most viable option here.

Yeah, its just I think we/they all expect Lane to be more the better player as the years go by and according to some, Slay was a little "not so great" in the 2nd half of last year as he was the first year.

Either way, lets get it done Howie! A Lane restructure that is...

Yea Slay gone. Can't rule out him coming back if he doesn't find what he wants out there but probably gone.
Yeah he's a prideful guy, and he didn't congratulate Bradberry on his deal. I'm sure he is a little bit feeling spurned. CB #10 is a lock now.
