2023 Philadelphia Eagles - Complete waste of a season finally comes to an end. (11 Viewers)

Did not see this story. The NFL fined DeAndre Swift for trucking Percy Butler last week.

I don't see anything remotely illegal on that replay :confused:
That's what I was thinking. Didn't making helmet to helmet. Didn't hit with the top of the crown. There's nothing there.
More...the DB came flying in at him, it wasn't like he went out of his way to truck the DB

Cowboys are 6-6 over their last 12 road games, and 1-7 on grass in those.
That sounds and awful lot like "never won a game below 40°." It's all nonsense.
Really? A team can't have a significantly different road/home split? Or be better built for turf as opposed to grass? The 1-7 does seem a bit fluky, but it's NOT meaningless. This is NOT a coin flip game. It's certainly no gimme, but the Eagles SHOULD be favored here
What is the reason that this cowboys team would be different in grass vs turf?

Some players don't cut/move as quickly on grass as they do on turf

Here are their last 12 road games (they're actually 5-7, not 6-6):

@PHI (L)
@GB (L)
@MIN (W)
@Jax (L)
@TEN (W)
@WAS (L)
@TB (W)
@SF (L)
@NYG (W)
@Ari (L)
@SF (L)
@LAC (W)

Looks like Dallas just beat some bad teams on the road. I think turf/grass is just coincidental.

If you just look at regular season they beat @LAR and @NYG (so they would be 6-6). So again, two more bad teams. They just don't play well on the road and they can't beat good teams on the road. But winning on the road in the NFL is hard. That's why in the "gauntlet" games I have the Eagles losing @KC, @DAL and @SEA and winning vs. DAL, BUF and SF.

Does that apply to the players on this cowboys’ team?

From Google.

The fines collected are donated to the Professional Athletes Foundation to support Legends in need and the NFL Foundation to further support the health, safety and wellness of athletes across all levels, including youth football and the communities that support the game.

To me this looks like how the NFL is dodging the extended health insurance for retired players. I could be wrong but player fines seem higher this year than previous years.

NOw, can we get our guys back for KC? Can we steal a post bye game from Reid?

If KC weren't also on a bye next week, I'd call the Eagles a slim favorite in that game. So miffed they get the bye and at home on our bye.

Been watching Buffalo the last few weeks. They don't look good on defense. Eagles are winning that game.

I think kc and bills are wins. More worried about 49ers and Seahawks. But hawks look very beatable as well. This gauntlet might not be that bad. Great time for a bye

Any word on Dallas Goedert? Looked like he broke his arm. Hope I'm wrong
Eagles’ TE Dallas Goedert has a fracture in his forearm and will undergo an MRI on Monday to determine if there is any further damage, as well, per sources. Either way, Goedert is set to miss time and is an injured reserve candidate.

He’s going on IR last year offense struggled with him out

If he needs surgery similar to what I just had he’s out 4-8 weeks at the least. So he’s missing the rest of the season it looks like regular season. If the Eagles can get a bye that’d be crucial and hope he can play in the playoffs

Sucks for him, he should be back for the playoffs.

Re-watching the 2nd Half this morning. My biggest impression is that Slay and Bradberry are both cooked. Bradberry looks like he has quit on the team- Offseason we need to trade for a CB and eat $20M in cap.

The Eagles defense seemed to settle down a bit once they took Ricks off Lamb and put Slay on him. They never do that. Normally Slay stays in his spot. Slay has definitely lost a step, but he's the least of the worries in that secondary. Ricks had his lunch handed to him all day. Welcome to the NFL, rookie.

With the buzz that the Eagles were interested in the Chicago corner, I think it's obvious that Howie knows he needs to get younger at the position. You can't fix everything at once. It wouldn't shock me to see Philly go CB early in the draft next year.

ETA: It wouldn't shock me to see the Eagles get a CB and move one of Slay or Bradberry to safety.

Yeah something is off w Bradberry. His days are definitely numbered.

With that said, who's brilliant idea was it to put a rookie on CD Lamb with no help?

The Cowboys hunted the mismatch and forced the Eagles to adjust. The bigger concern is the TE Ferguson was running wide-open all day. The Eagles are going to get burned if they continue to just treat the LB position as an afterthought.

Despite this fact, Dak targeted Jalen Tolbert as many times as CD Lamb in the 4th Q. Once you are down to your...5th string player at a position, its not like there are a ton of other options.

I’m at Philly airport, heading to Dallas for a work conference, and there’s a lot of quiet Dallas fans at my gate waiting to board this flight, and throughout the airport:P

I’m wearing my Eagles hat and hoodie and giving them all a friendly, “Good game. Go Birds!” greeting.

I just might stroll through the Cowboys pro shop in the DFW airport when we land.

💯 Slay is still serviceable. But he isn’t ‘Big Play’ any more. More like ‘Decent Play’. Bradberry needs to be replaced.

Knew McCarthy was gonna try and feed Lamb in the slot- he was getting 64% slot snaps before this game, and knowing that’s our weakness, that was where they were targeting. Lamb played really well, as expected. Dak did a really good job scrambling and making things happen. Conversions on 3rd and 4th downs were off the charts.

I’m hoping when Roby comes back after the bye, things look better.

Listening to the talking heads on ESPN this morning. It sounds like moral victory day for the Cowboys.
Oh yeah. They take solace in the fact that "Dak is 8-4 against the Eagles" or that Lamb had a better game than AJ Brown, or the fact Dak's stat sheet looks better.

What doesn't show up on the stat sheet is the lack of situational awareness by the QB and the coach. Stepping out of bounds on the 2 point attempt, taking a delay of game in the most crucial moment of the game, then to only take a back-breaking sack directly after that. I think time and time again we have seen that Dak cracks under the pressure.

Interesting stat I saw at the end of the game:

QB rating when trailing on the scoreboard -

Jalen Hurts 121.4 (1st in the NFL)
Dak Prescott 65.1 (Last in the NFL)

All in all it seems no matter what, we find ways to win and are a real clutch team. We didn't get much pressure on Dak all game long and them bam, when it matter the most sack, sack, sack.

Love this team. 8-1 heading into the bye. 5 games left of the alleged Gauntlet, and I really think we get at least 3 or the next 5. Which would put us at 11 wins going into the anti-Gauntlet of Giants, Cardinals, Giants to finish the season.

Everything we want is right in front of us. Time to rise all the way to the top once again!

Fly Eagles Fly!

Honestly, I think Cunningham is the type of LB we need for this system. They’re never gonna prioritize LB- it’s not in their DNA. But Zach and Morrow on the field are enough in this system. Nakobe is overmatched in the NFL. I don’t think he is a viable starter in the league. I like him, but he’s not the guy.

Love this! Exactly. Man, Jalen has his flaws, but I’ll take him with the game on the line 100 times over Dak with the game on the line.

We need to draft 2 corners. Early
I think they thought they could at least get through this season before both veteran cornerbacks hit the downside of their careers.

We will have Isaiah Rogers off suspension next year, and they’ve been drafting/signing young CBs like lottery tickets hoping at least one turns out to be decent.

Early draft picks are going to be spent on the OLine (Lane replacement) and DLine.
