2023 Pittsburgh Steelers. Banged up team loses to Buffalo. Looking ahead to 2024 now (3 Viewers)

Do they have a successor in place? It would seem kind of odd to let him control the draft if not.
Steelers GM Kevin Colbert expected to step down following 2022 NFL Draft

... Now, Pittsburgh will reload with a new QB and a new GM. They do have at least two key in-house potential candidates in VP of football and business administration Omar Khan and pro scouting coordinator Brandon Hunt.

... When Ozzie Newsome stepped away as GM of the Baltimore Ravens in 2019 and gave way to Eric DeCosta, he stayed on in an advisory role. In similar fashion, it is conceivable that Colbert could stay on in Pittsburgh in the short term.

I think it has to be Khan or MAYBE some other veteran GM. I don’t think bringing in some “hot” outside candidate will work with a vet coach like Tomlin. I hope it doesn’t end up actually being Tomlin though….

Considering that Khan, IIRC, has turned down a GM spot elsewhere (or at least interviews for GM spots) a couple times over the past 6-8 years I'd assume he'd be given the first shot.

Enjoying my buzz

Good news: Steelers probably make playoffs.  Bad news: we get to play Chiefs in Kansas City
Yeah, pretty much one and done almost guaranteed if SD/LV decide not to just kneel it down all game.

I'm sure the org will be happy if they get in, regardless if it's one and done. Gettin' dat playoff $$$.

Watt robbed of a sack early. The qb was getting up to make a play. He should have the record alone
Funny part if he just layed on the ball , definitely not a sack.

Not sure if rigged but happy Big Ben gets to end his career with a post season run. This would be less surprising than the years Eli Manning won the big won.

I'm a Cardinals fan, so I have every reason to hate Ben but I'm rooting for him. Keep your career alive one game at a time. The guy has won 2 SBs and been to 3 for a reason. Ray Lewis was able to pull it off and that was hardly in his control. Write that narrative, baby. I want Super Bowl XLV rematch.

Makes up for the sack Watt was gifted in the Browns game when Baker slid down at the line of scrimmage and Pitt stat keeper gifted Watt the sack.  Of course that won't help me win my championship that I lost because of that play.

Congrats to Steeler fans  A lot of grit to get there as this team has looked like anything but a playoff team all year.  Hope they put up a decent fight next week

Steelers spanked by KC pretty bad only a couple of weeks ago so we're likely in for another beatdown but anything can happen, right???

The playoff berth likely cost the Steelers a drop of 5 or 6 slots in the 2022 draft.

Yup I don’t care about that.  One more game for Ben is what I care about. After last night’s finish, how can we not believe in destiny, right?

I am definitely excited to see the team make the playoffs and Ben to have another game.  I'll be shocked if we can pull off a victory next Sunday night but quite frankly I am shocked this Steelers team is in the playoffs.

I said in the game thread last night the Steelers are pretty bad at the following:  Run offense, Pass offense, Run defense, Pass defense.  Yet here they are in the playoffs.  Truly remarkable.  Yes they will almost certainly get smoked Sunday night but it still feels good.  If there is ever a year that Tomlin deserves coach of the year, this is it.

Nice to see the Raiders and Chargers both played to win. I think people underestimate  professional pride. People thinking they were both going to take a knee over and over in OT lol
I don't think most really thought they would but it was a fun chat.  I'm sure some fringe people did though.....  :)

I mean, can we play any worse than that game though?  I don't think we get embarrassed twice by the same team.  Could be an upset special.

Joe Haeg playing yesterday apparently will cost us a comp pick too.  And I think the Dupree's pick will be downgraded as well.

You guys crack me up , every week you trash Ben and this team in the game threads and now its all rainbows and unicorns.....

*I'll pretend I was positive all year.....

Scenario: Steelers nursing a 3-point lead late in the game, drive to the KC 2-yd. line. Ben inexplicably throws an interception and only a great effort by Najee to run down and tackle the DB prevents a pick 6. Butker misses the ensuing FG attempt, the Chiefs fail to score and Steelers advance. After the game Najee says "We couldn't let Ben go out that way."

I see what you did there!

I saw the Steelers led the NFL in one-score victories with 8.  It is amazing how much better this team performs in the second half, and the 4th quarter in particular. Let's hope for a close game next Sunday night.

Even Ben (who is apparently one of the weakest links at this point) has a knack for coming up clutch in the 4th quarter.

McCloud said the team decided to go into the team facility today rather than take the day off to "start the process." Said they were watching film as a team.
RIght Film day is usually Monday - sometimes they get it off sometimes they don't

It doesn't really matter though - not sure why I brought it up tbh :)

Lets just forget my last 2 posts

Chiefs have regressed back to their early season form on defense the last couple of weeks.  Can't tackle anyone, players looking completely disinterested, terrible defensive playcalling....

This game is going to be closer than everyone thinks.

Defense with the most sacks, 2017-2021:

2017 – Steelers (56)

2018 – Steelers (52)

2019 – Steelers (54)

2020 – Steelers (56)

2021 – Steelers (55)

Pittsburgh's led every single year. 50+ sacks in five straight seasons ties the NFL record

7 home games vs 9 road games?  Is there a typo there?
