2023 Pittsburgh Steelers. Banged up team loses to Buffalo. Looking ahead to 2024 now (5 Viewers)

So Steelers fans - what is your take on Diontae and him just standing around while there's a ball bouncing around on the field? I mean, besides being mad at him, any chance he:
A) gets punished and ignored
B) sees he needs to put in more effort and blossoms

It didn't seem like there was any in-game punishment for him.
I really hope leaders in the locker room call DJ out behind closed doors and get an apology. Punishment is probably up to how he responds to coaches and teammates. What fans think doesn’t matter.
The only and I mean only sliver of forgiveness was it was the play right after his "dropped" TD..... yes that is 100% not an excuse and I hated his signing from the start but that the 1% of the awfulness of that play that I'll forgive him.

I just popped in to say I can't believe I'm cautiously optimistic now :lmao: I hate watched this team for 12 weeks, the fire the OC and its like the ending of the 40 year old virgin now

I'm sure I will be disappointed once again. I said to burn it down 3 weeks ago :lmao:

Nice road division win, but let's hold off on Super Bowl talk until we score more than 16 points with this shiny new offense
It’s jumping on a sports betting line before Vegas odds drop. To me, odds improving means more people believe the Steelers are getting better after Canada was fired.
For anyone that listens to the Simmons podcast - Sal has been hammering the steelers lose the first half win the game bets

Minkah back at practice, looks like he'll be activated. Kenny actually looked like a competent QB. Offense gained over 400 yards and the Steelers take on a 2-10 Cardinals team at home. Seems like the Steelers should have an easy win and then another vs the 2-9 Patriots on a short week at home.

Why do I get the feeling they are going to blow one or both of these games?

If it makes you feel better, then you should know that I was trying to ascertain the Jets' potential for a very high draft pick. Those pesky New England Patriots were in the way, so I looked for winnable games they might have. My answer was Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh has no lights-out, solid QB to speak of and could wind up in a slugfest that tips New England's way.

Right now, Pittsburgh isn't good enough to overlook anybody, including Arizona. That's my two cents for the Steelers thread. Sorry about that, but that's the way I see it.

And, oh yes, the Jets stink and are a clown show right now, so there's no need to tell me otherwise.

Kyler Murray has the chance to upset anybody, though that D is real bad.

Also, any given Sunday does truly apply, there was the year where the Browns sucked but they beat the dominant Patriots.

I think we lose at least 2 more games this season, but for some reason I think we beat Baltimore. So that means losing 2 to: AZ, Pats, Colts, Bengals, Seahawks...

I think the game this week is really close, and if the Pats start Zappe they have a better shot against us. But as Jabrill Peppers said "You lucky we ***."

Oh we know this and yet somehow the Steelers are actually in pretty good position to make the playoffs. With Minkah coming back and a new offensive coordinator, we are all just a tad more excited about the team’s future than we were a couple weeks ago. But yeah ultimately the lack of a good QB will be their demise.

I’m going to Seattle over NYE weekend and will be going to the game. Is there any way to tell if the game is eligible to be flexed to Sunday Night? I haven’t looked at the other games but it’s possible the game has major playoff implications for both teams. Part of me would love being at SNF in an awesome environment like this.

Booooo

We just fired Canada and barely beat a team playing with an injured Defense and backup QB. Now is not the time to hold back, it's time for unbridled optimism!
Every team in the AFC has sucked real bad at one point or another this season, there's no reason the Steelers D and the Pickler can't beat the other AFC teams on any given Sunday.

Overlook Arizona? No way! Offense is still working on coming together. Time of possession was dominant v a weak Cinci D. Team should be focused and hungry to control the game and tempo. Need to stack those bricks.

...can Pickett put 2 decent games in a row together with this "new found" momentum, or does he crash like he's accustomed too and Arizona escapes with a win? Each team seems to go as their QB, Field General goes...

Worried but feel better it's at home
Don't worry. We got this. We're going to win by 9+.

Predictions:
  • Najee and Warren each get over 80 total yards
  • Kenny throws for 2 TDs
  • Defense gets 2 takeaways
  • TJ gets 1.5 sacks
  • Minkah gets a pick
  • Kyler Murray has a wild scramble that gives Steelers fans heartburn
  • James Conner has a nice run that makes us feel nostalgic
  • Steelers burn a timeout because we have too many/too few players on the field

Keep in mind AZ isn't getting blown out of most games. Beating the Steelers would be a huge boost for them. Expect a fight, but I think the Steelers continue getting stronger with a win.

It'd be even worse if this was actually surprising. It's just not.

These types of games happen every year regardless of how good the team is. Playing uninspired, undisciplined football to lose a very winnable home game can't be all that surprising to anyone who's a fan of the Steelers.

Canada was a part of the problem, but he wasn't the only one. The Steelers problems start at the top, and that problem isn't going to change anytime soon.

Not only were they beat, they were curb stomped by a 2-10 team at home.

Expect some sweet verbiage from everyone's favorite coach. I wonder who's next to go under the bus.

So depressing for the fan base. This is what we will be subjected to until he decides to retire. Kinda like watching the Pirates at this point which I don't do anymore.

How are Steelers currently in playoffs while Texans are not since h2h Texans beat them? Assume h2h doesn’t count when different divisions?
Steelers have been tremendously lucky this year to have 7 wins. They are not a good team and likely will not make the playoffs (especially after today's loss and the injuries).

Watching 76 year old Joe Flacco tossing TD’s for the Browns while we sputter and WR screen ourselves into oblivion sure is fun.

For Steelers safety Minkah Fitzpatrick, it was frustrating to see the Cardinals’ tight end catching some passes over the middle and generating offense for the Cardinals.

“We really let the tight end catch a couple balls over the middle. He is a good player. I don’t think we gave him the respect he deserved at first,” Fitzpatrick stated to reporters after the loss, according to video via the Post-Gazette.
Minkah sounds like he’s questioning things

  • Najee and Warren each get over 80 total yards - Nope
  • Kenny throws for 2 TDs - lol
  • Defense gets 2 takeaways - so many missed fumbles
  • TJ gets 1.5 sacks - he got to Murray twice but only shows 0.5 sacks?
  • Minkah gets a pick - He got a broken hand!
  • Kyler Murray has a wild scramble that gives Steelers fans heartburn - Check
  • James Conner has a nice run that makes us feel nostalgic - Check, check, check
  • Steelers burn a timeout because we have too many/too few players on the field - and too few
So, kind of right, except for the part where I thought our offense would do anything. It felt like deja vu, we moved the ball to start, but no points. And then we couldn't execute for crap because our Center is horrendous and because our route concepts end with receivers/TEs in the same area drawing coverage together.

Still holding out hope for the season, but if we lose to the Pats idk what will happen.

Is this proof that Sullivan shouldn't call plays? Or was it purely execution, felt like a lot of play calls were not great.

I mean, our DC Austin isn't great. He doesn't seem to put our players in a great position to succeed on a regular basis. I think it's mostly the players' talent overcoming scheme. His poor job has been overshadowed by Canada.
