2024-2025 NCAA College Basketball Thread - Huskers take the Crown! Also Florida did something. (1 Viewer)

It really feels like Norfolk would be in striking distance of anyone, but Florida and Duke. They have played pretty well.

They showed Norfolk State's pre-game hype talk and it was just the coach yelling "Stop Clayton, we just gotta Stop Clayton, everyone stop Clayton!"

It's 5 minutes into the game and Clayton has 13 points including a 4pt play.

Norfolk State 'angry' over massive underdog status vs. Florida

RALEIGH, N.C. -- Norfolk State coach Robert Jones has a monster chip on his shoulder entering his team's first-round NCAA tournament game against No. 1 seed Florida on Friday.

He clearly feels his team has something to prove.

The 16th-seeded Spartans are 27.5-point underdogs against SEC tournament champion Gators, according to ESPN BET.

Wait a minute, did I just see a coach with a painted head??? Like a perfect black semi-circle starting on the front of his dome. WTH, LOFL! How can he possibly think that it looks better or that the world doesn't wonder what he is thinking? It's clear as day, that's not even gonna fool a baby.

I rewound it, had to. Yep. Richie McKay. It's a perfect rounded line, so he must put a cover over it and then pulls out the spray can.

You know what would work well? One of those cone-of-shames that dogs have to wear. That way the spray doesn't get all over his face or clothes.

It must withstand sweat, too. So getting that stuff off in the shower has to take some time. Or maybe a couple coats last for days. I wonder if he goes through it all every day. This is fascinating.

I'm sure this has been covered before, but why on earth would ESPN or the NCAA or whoever decided it a couple years ago move the women's tournament to the same days as the men??

McNeese getting worked by 20. Coach starts riding officials after a clear cut charge followed by another foul on them and gets T'd up and then a player argues and gets a T.

6 FTs for Purdue.

I'm with Coach. Looked to me like the defender was clearly moving.

You can still be moving and draw a charge. He was in and maintained legal guarding position and took the contact directly in the chest.

It was a textbook charge.

And now McNeese cuts it to 16 and have a FT coming with 11 minutes left by just playing basketball. Imagine if they hadn't given them 3 points off technical FT's?

Too bad those refs didn't do the Kentucky game yesterday when Oweh put his knee into the defenders chest. No one seemed to think that was a charge.

I'm not really trying to argue with you, just hate the inconsistency in basketball officiating at every level.

This has to be one of the ugliest basketball games I’ve seen in a long time. Horrid shooting. Combined 4-39 from 3.

I'm sure this has been covered before, but why on earth would ESPN or the NCAA or whoever decided it a couple years ago move the women's tournament to the same days as the men??

Been this schedule for a long time now. It is offset by a day (Fri-Mon vs Thur-Sun) on the two weekends.

I'm sure I'm confused, but I don't remember there being direct competition before several years ago.

It’s been like this (one day difference) for at least 20 years. Both the women and men want games on the weekend. Wouldn’t make sense for the women to miss Sat/Sun games just to avoid the men’s scheduling.

Letting them play in this Mich-UCSD game.
Michigan got more whistles down the stretch. The just needed to drive to the hoop and it would come. Don't remember many, if any for UCSD in similar situations. And there were multiple late whistles, which is more annoying.

Two starters for UCSD fouled out, one with a lot of time left, and another had to play with 4 and two or three others had 3. Overall, I do think it was biased. Maybe not overwhelmingly but in a 3-point game, that's more than enough to swing it.

I had no skin in the game whatsoever but it bothers me to see Goliath getting any sort of breaks facing David. I mean, come on.
They were going against two 7 footers, they almost have to foul. There were plenty of non calls as well.
Michigan got 27 free throws today.

In the 2nd half.

Anybody watch the ice cream guy doing tricks on Charles Barkley? That’s a company my partner and I own selling Turkish Ice Cream out of Long Beach and San Diego. I was at the studio tonight, got to meet Barkley, Ernie Johnson, Kenny Smith. Pretty cool.
That’s awesome!

They used to run Sat thru Tue, but in not sure how long ago that was. They have always played on the weekend.

Go Blue Baby! Sweet 16! Hail to the victors!
Didn’t get to see but hell yes, I love what Dusty May has done with this team. They are good enough to give anyone in the country terrible. As long as they can keep the turnovers under control, they are a tough team to beat. Two skilled 7 footers is a rarity and something teams can’t really prep for.

Zags lost... behind by a good margin all game long but had resilience enough to make it a game at the end. Houston is a dang good team.
