2024-25 NBA Thread: for the second time, somebody in Dallas hits low percentage shot that leads to a generation of conspiracy theories (6 Viewers)

Apparently everyone was waiting on moody in order to break the rookie extension logjam…

Murphy
The Bulls and Josh Giddey did not reach an extension. Giddey is looking for 30M a year. Murphy at 4 years/112M is 28 per year.

Maybe not such an excessive request from Giddey.
He's got A LOT to prove this season.

No shot I'd have given him 30/mil right now. He's shown to be a liability on both ends so far (w/o the ball and defensively). He's going to have every opportunity to stuff the stat sheet in Chicago. I still don't think that'll parlay to a $30m/yr long term deal unless he morphs into a player able to play off ball some and starts defending. He just turned 22 so I guess it's still possible. Even on a team with Lavine/Coby White/Buzelis/Vuc, he's going to have to play off ball some.

I am surprised how good Lonzo Ball looks so far after almost 3 years away from the court. He never relied on his athleticism but he definitely still looks like he belongs on an NBA court. He's looked very confident shooting from deep.
I agree that waiting on giddey makes sense, but it’s a little curious that they seemingly valued him so highly in the trade and then didn’t extend him

Maybe they're betting that few teams will have space to chase RFAs next July.

ETA: or maybe they're just the Bulls

Speaking of fantasy... anyone wanna do a "rate my team" on the roster I compiled while having several cocktails on Sunday afternoon? I can DM it to you as to not clog up this thread :oldunsure:

I think you need to show us your rooster in the thread.
PG - Cunningham, Sexton, White
SG - Edwards, Murray, Hield, Mathurin, Klay
SF - Banchero, Sochan, Amen Thompson
PF - Towns
C - Allen, Jackson-Davis

My main issue is balancing "who to start", because by the end of the season I always run out of games to be played. I know to always "start my studs" but it's the fringe players I have trouble figuring out when to plug them in.

And it's funny, I've been doing fantasy football for SOOOO long, but I actually cut my teeth in fantasy sports doing fantasy basketball. But I was always in leagues where there were no stupid "game limits". I was actually in a neat little email string with a guy on ESPN.com... I think his name was Jefferson George? His piece was called String Music and I'd frequently get quoted or have my question(s) in his article. So I go wayyyy back, just haven't been as into it (as compared to football... 20+ leagues...).

Terrible.

Wait I actually looked at it and you have Edwards. Great team!

I haven’t played fantasy bball in a million years, but I have a hard time figuring out what sochan brings to the table. I guess maybe some rebounds but his shooting percentage seems like it would be way worse than other guys who can board

Joe mazzulla should have been a writer on the sopranos.

Joe Mazzulla was asked if he feels any pressure to maximize the Celtics window.

His response: “We're all gonna be dead soon, and it really doesn't matter anymore, so there's 0 pressure.”

The end of the failed point forward experiment will reduce his assists but should also cut down on his turnovers.

The Celtics are absurd. Lots of plus defenders and one through five can switch all screens, and essentially every player that sees the court can shoot lights out.

ahhh memories years ago my daughter was over for opening night and we sat down to watch the celtics and then gordon haywards foot was on backwards and we called it a night take that to the bank brohans

Found a copy of my old 20-team keeper roster from wayback. Don't remember exactly when this was, but pretty sure you can nail it down to the year if you consider I have the positions sorted in ranked order. I think the champ could only keep five, runner up could keep six, and so on up until keep max of 15.

Centers: Shaquille 0'Neal,Kendrick Perkins.
Forwards: Dirk Nowitski, Chris Bosh, Travis Outlaw, John Salmons (G/F), Jason Kapono, C.J. Miles (G/F), Antoine Wright (G/F), Sasha Pavlovic (G/F).
Guards: Deron Williams, Tracy McGrady, Allen Iverson, Rafer Alston, Jason Hart.
Developmental Roster: Nemanja Aleksandrov, Robertas Javtokas, Artem Zabelin, Dameon Mason, Sun Ming Ming.

Edit: I may have posted this last year after awakening from my Rip Van Gundy Winkle NBA slumber.

Three quarters into the first game and I can safely say that we will let the Knicks have Julius Randle back. Free of charge. What a lazy A.

Rui Hachimura on his aggressive play tonight:

"We talked about Julius Randle, He sometimes is just standing and stuff. So we talked about, we got to kind of use that. I know I can be the screener. I can be in the corner to kind of attack the rim.”

“Just standing” might be an understatement. Opening night. New team. New teammates. At the Lakers. On national television. Dude didn’t give a flying F.

Zero effort going after boards. Half heartedly ran back on D in transition. No awareness on defense. Incredibly depressing.

:kicksrock:

i like the way bronny had a sweet missed layup and an even sweeter missed three and who can forget that one rebound that was off the chart is it black momba part two or what take that to the bank bromigos

My favorite part was Lebron's post game interview: "it's not given to you...you gotta earn every moment"
