2024-25 NBA Thread: for the second time, somebody in Dallas hits low percentage shot that leads to a generation of conspiracy theories (97 Viewers)

I don’t see how the Spurs could match salaries for Giannis either. Vassell, Johnson, Barnes…Bucks wouldn’t want them.
I think getting Dylan Harper back and they'll be taking them or getting moved to 3rd team.

They get Harper cost controlled for a few years.

I don't think there's any way the Spurs go into season with all 3 of Harper-Castle-Fox.
Yeah, I'd be shocked if the Spurs rolled that back court out next season. Moving Harper has to be the most natural move here.

Big props to the Blazers for knowing well in advance that tanking for Flagg wouldn't work. Once they realized this lottery would be rigged for a major market full of incompetence, they went out and tried to win, giving their young core hope and a road map for the future. Brilliant strategy!

The spot that Miami would've been in had they tanked vs ATL in the play-in.

Ouch.

More tough luck:

The Mavericks won the 2025 NBA Draft lottery with the ping pong ball combination of 10-14-11-7.
- The Blazers would have won if the last ball had been 6.
- The Wizards would have won if the last ball had been 1.

Found an even worse close call.

Bulls lost the coin toss with the Mavs in the lottery order.

Mavs - #1 pick
Bulls - #12 pick
I recall the Bulls also lost out on the #2 pick due to a coin flip when the Kings didn’t draft Luka.

Dylan Harper plus assets is probably near the top of possible outcomes for Bucks if they deal Giannis.
Maybe with, like, 4 additional first rounders.
I'm generally opposed to these type of deals, but Spurs are positioned to do it and not cut too close to the bone.

Wemby - Giannis - Fox - Castle gravity will be immense. I'll bet CP3 is negotiating a contract for the vet minimum this very minute.

3 consistent playoff teams get franchise altering players and the lousy teams pick from the also rans....between this and the god awful salary cap/lack of any decent FA signings - how do lousy teams get better in the NBA? Much worse system than the NFL.
I mean it's a kind of silly remark when you take a sample size larger than one lol

Would be interested in the list of teams you think would pursue him.
I think there are several teams that can send back 20 -25 million instead of nothing which saves Boston luxury tax, while giving that team someone to fill a role. As an example, the Bulls could send back expiring deals like Huerter and Dosunmu for Holiday. Boston then spins one of those guys somewhere else for an even smaller contract. I think teams will view Holiday as a neutral asset who can provide defense and leadership for the next 3 years. Maybe I am way off, but I wouldn't just be looking at his points per game as reason why nobody would want him
He’s not moving the needle for that team at all. Not to say the Bulls wouldn’t do it because they are dumb like that, but that’d be a terrible trade.

Not a conspiracy guy but I think that pick was going to Dallas i.e. Vegas no matter what.

This is where I am. I don't think sports as a whole are rigged, but I am starting to think the NBA lottery has its moments.

I mean replacing Luka with Cooper is pretty much exactly what all these tariffs are supposed to do, right?
