I'm a man of the people, Frosty. Not moved by the cause du jour, but someone who relies on my own two eyes and an internal compass that tells me all I need to know. Chris Haynes is a so-called nba insider who primarily made his bones by being close to dame lillard and then parlayed that into further connections.
Jake Fischer has worked his way up from blogger at liberty ballers (Sixers) to increasingly gaining connections throughout the league and getting a lot of tips about what is going on within front offices.
How valuable any of the information really is to the average fan is debatable, but they are usually have the best combination of speed and trustworthiness and volume for nba newsbreaking.
That's something, I guess.
They now have $600 million committed to Joel, George and Maxey over the next 4 years.Embiid signed a 3-year max extension.
They now have $600 million committed to Joel, George and Maxey over the next 4 years.Embiid signed a 3-year max extension.
Also, it’s pretty much a two year extension with a small bump in the last year of his current deal because the first year now replaces his player option year. I think I saw that he has now made $514 million, which is 3rd or 4th highest all time. Of course, that will be eclipsed by a few guys with just their next contracts (Luka, shai, Tatum to name a few)
Maybe he already did, but it's life sized so you can't tell. That's something, I guess.
He's an odd cat for sure but just as long as he is motivated to beat the crap out of every team they face this season, he can get a tattoo of his own face on his face for all I care.
It's baffling to me that ESPN can't figure out how to make money off of him in a landscape where NBA podcasts, subscription newsletters, and the like are thriving. He'll stay unemployed about as long as he wants to.Zach Lowe laid off at ESPN. Baffling decision and sucks for him, but hopefully he'll end up somewhere where I can read his work without a subscription.

Crazy world where ESPN lays off Zach Lowe but guys like Stephen A, MaCafee and Sharpe have multi-million dollar contracts. Its no longer about the networks being smart or stupid, this is on the consumers. Any form of nuanced, informed analysis is not wanted on a mass-market large network platform.
With the way Woj quickly jumped in on Twitter and knowing how he ran ESPNs basketball coverage, I wonder how much protection he was giving Lowe. Another way to read this is whoever is running their basketball coverage now, wants their own people. It's baffling to me that ESPN can't figure out how to make money off of him in a landscape where NBA podcasts, subscription newsletters, and the like are thriving. I know and I don't think that was independent. But his written work has been behind a paywall for years and while I like Lowe, he wasn't enough to get me to subscribe to ESPN insider/+ or whatever they are calling it these days.he has a podcast, The Lowe PostZach Lowe laid off at ESPN. not sure if that was independent of ESPN, though

Keeping him behind a paywall to try to get more ESPN+ subscribers is pretty crazy. ESPN website and app (I don't think they email you anything) platform is basically unusable for a consumer as a distribution platform for anything but video clips these days. They were basically relying on Twitter to point the way to the articles and now that that sort of gone as a viable distro platform, they basically have nothing.Zach Lowe laid off at ESPN. I hope this ends up with him back with Bill Simmons at The Ringer or with The Athletic. Anywhere else and I'll be bummed out.
Yeah, the only reason I've had ESPN+ is at first I was getting ESPN the Magazine for like $6/yr or something crazy and it came with the subscription, then with Hulu/Disney+/ESPN+ bundle (which my credit card comps me for). With Lowe leaving, I don't think I would be willing to spend a dollar a year for that trash. I get ESPN+ and trying to find any particular article even using the search function is an unspeakably bad experience. But hey they have a 2 minute Stephan A video clip keyed up the second you open the app.

Until he chokes on a chicken wing bone like Bill Swerski. So Windy is going to be the main NBA guy at ESPN . . . .
I wonder if this means they’ll no longer be blacked out in KC.Nuggets (and Avs) are the next team to start to go OTA with their games. Each is going to have 20 games over the air this season and there is also going to be an app for $20/mo showing all the games. The 3.5 year nightmare of not having the Avs and Nuggets on TV for most of us Coloradoans is over!!
Definitely the right thread. Sorry to hear GB.Hey NBA FFAers, like Zach Lowe I was laid off recently. I don’t think I have it in me to run a salary cap draft this year but should be able to participate in and help run a different draft this season - when I’m not trying to find another job (I get a nice severance and am a FBG, so I’m fine for a while).
I’m open to ideas, whether it’s just for this season or some kind of all-time thing. I had in the back of mind something using where the players are from (whether it’s where they were born or where they went to school - or didn’t) as requirements to fill. But here I am making things more complicated.
Not sure if this is the best thread or if I should start something new. I’m open to ideas, and open if someone wants to run a draft instead of me.

Draft a current player team where 1 player was from each conference or country or continent or something along those lines?
Some kind of alphabet thing?
Teams where you can't draft more than one player born in the same place?
Draft a team where all your players have to be a different height?
White players only?
Black players only?
Chinesed player only?
All-time draft but players with less than 5 (10?) years of experience?
All-time draft no hall of fame players?
Draft with players with girl names only?
No syracuse players eligible?
Some kind of combo ncaa/nba success draft?
Best current team with a minutes limit?

College Categories (conference designations based on when they played, not necessarily the stupid new conference alignment).
- PAC-10/12
- ACC
- Big East
- SEC
- Big 10
- Big 12 / Southwest
- Other college
- No college American (including direct to G League)
- International
Your starting lineup has to use at least 4 different categories of player (sorry @scoobus , you can’t have all Syracuse players). Your full roster (10) has to use at least 8 different categories.
If a player switched schools, or their school switched conferences while they were playing, you can place them in either category.
Too much?
ETA - you’re not drafting the college player, you’re taking the NBA player and ranking based on the best NBA team.
