2024 College Football Thread: Ohio State advances to play unbeaten hypothetical SEC team (2 Viewers)

Oh, and Iowa scored 40. The world is ending fellas. It’s been real……
They really miss Brian Ferentz’s play calling
First half looked exactly the same as the last umpteen years. At the half, I think Tim Lester said guys, look at me, look at me. Not Brian Ferentz here, we don’t have to keep playing that way. Second half the offense looked totally different, receivers open, McNamara finding the right reads, spreading the ball around the field. Really strange.

Yeah, no way that wasn't a first down. That was the view of the live shot and I was sure it was a first down then. Seeing the replay didn't alter that.

Yet the spot stood.

Replay is proving itself as a ****ing joke.

Entertaining game. Good job by the Irish coming away with the win despite a lot of sloppy play and penalties on both lines. Need to clean that up, hopefully a lot of teachable moments can come out of it.

New Mexico, who last week lost to an fcs school, is giving #21 AZ State a run. Doubt I'll stay up for the whole game but so far it's been good.

I’m seeing your boys in Athens this year. Roll eagle or whatever.

If you don't wear Red & Black, THEY WILL BARK AT YOU.
Oh god. Maybe I’ll wear a Bucs shirt/jersey.

Got an Oregon Dod shirt you can borrow.
Ship it
Only if you agree to take Dillon Gabriel with it...lord almighty that was a rough watch today in Eugene.

Cade plays well when he gets into a groove. Always liked him at Michigan but McCarthy was better and he lost his starting job. Cade was bitter about that but he beat out Big Joe Milton the same way.

I missed the game but the stat line sure looks good. 41 for 49 for 380 yards and 2 TDs with no interceptions. What did he look like?

I'd like to watch the game on TV to get a better feel but here was my impression from the stands.

He looked like a guy terrified to throw the ball at any angle north of 20 degrees to his right or 160 to his left (and he is left handed). I don't think I saw a ball travel longer than 15 hards beyond the LOS - all short, safe passes where yards came in bunches after the catch.

And he looks tiny back there, that fumble of his looked like the Idaho defender breathed on him. Didn't see any running on display which was probably by design and he should have been picked off on a terrible decision to throw rolling left with a throw that was a pick-6 if the defender had better skills.

His numbers are good and they did win, but that was a game fans were expecting to be over in the 2nd Quarter and we stayed until the end because it was too close for comfort.

At no point in that game did I think to myself "This QB is a Heisman hopeful". How spoiled I am!

At the risk of getting the reply "Because he's a good dog, Brant!"... why is there a dog in the broadcast booth? Tuned in late.

Missed the thread yesterday because I got to go to A&M/ND with my son (14). We had a blast and the Aggies were super nice hosts. Great atmosphere and fun times abounded.

My son got to experience a few of the ND traditions live for the first time he’ll remember (was a young kid last game), including introducing him and the Aggies around us the TD push ups. Definitely recommend making the trip to College Station for a game.

USC looking pretty good. Already got two more stops on defense than I expected this game. I like this new d coordinator and offense should be solid. Know it’s early but I’m….. optimistic!

I would think gb bigbottom would have some thoughts but pretty sure he’s still fast asleep after watching that Roma/Juve snooze fest earlier.

I’m not saying anything until this thing is over!

Man, what a game. Wish we were there, but did have my son with me to watch the game as he flew home for the long weekend, which was really cool. While they were far from perfect, it was nice to see some physicality and tackling from the Trojan defense. And while the offense wasn’t a trademark Lincoln Riley offensive performance, they were pretty gritty and I liked the more balanced approach. It was also refreshing I have to say not watching our QB scrambling around every play. It wasn’t pretty, but it was a big win and a great way to start the season.

Maybe we can start a thread devoted entirely to Michigan cheating and leave this thread for actual football content?
What games are you looking forward to this weekend as a fan? As a bettor?

GM will for sure be focused on the nail biter that is Oregon vs Idaho.

As for me, I’m looking forward to USC/LSU, Georgia/Clemson and Notre Dame/A&M.

Any Ohio State fans in here? Talk about the lamest non-conference schedule ever for an “elite” program.
They were supposed to play Washington, but the merger nixed it.

That's Herbstreit's dog (Ben) and he takes him to all of the games and he (Ben) has become a bit of a celebrity of his own.

Usually put the volume on mute or too low to hear it when he is calling a game. No idea he had a dog in the booth :lmao:

As much as I loathe LSU, I was hoping they'd beat the University of spoiled children. They are everything that is wrong with college sports.

I assume you’re talking about the 59 current and former USC athletes that represented the United States at the Summer Olympics in Paris, right?
