2024 College Football Thread: Ohio State advances to play unbeaten hypothetical SEC team (4 Viewers)

I think the Canes will pull away. Just dominating the LoS on offense. Gators have gotten the breaks so far like the INT but still trailing in spite of it.

These two teams need to get over it and play every year.
FYI Florida has ducked Miami….we always wanted to play them every year.

@ Tennessee #15
vs. Kentucky
vs Georgia #1
@ Texas #4
vs LSU #13
vs Ole Miss #6
@ FSU #10

Florida plays those games consecutively this year (as well as 2 other ranked teams on top of it).

Many years they have 6+ ranked teams on the schedule. FSU plays both FSU and Miami but they don't have to play Georgia+LSU+Tennessee every year alongside usually one of Alabama or now Texas/OU.

It would be one thing if they actually got rewarded for it. A few years back though they went 11-1 with 5 games against teams that finished in the top 10 at the end of the regular season (their only loss being a flukey 6 fumble game against #4 Georgia where they still had a chance to tie it on the final play) and they STILL didn't make the BCS title game that year. Since they were in the top 10 themselves that year that meant there were literally more teams in the top 10 that they'd played (5) than that they hadn't (4) going into the bowl games, and they still didn't get to play for a title.

Though with the larger playoff where 1 or 2 losses doesn't kill ya maybe they will add this game every year now.

That’s a valid point. The SEC is brutal. I get it.

I just wished it was an every year game.

Georgia is in the SEC and they just opened with Clemson. But I get it, UF closes their year with fsu so that’s usually tough.

NC State with a really rusty looking first half.

:wolf:
Conception looks like the real deal. I almost drafted him in devy, but only being a Sophomore made me go another route. They didn't play a top tier opponent, but he was on another level last night.
Will be playing on Sundays eventually.

NC State has some serious talent this season at RB and WR.

Waters
Smothers
Raphael

Concepcion
Rogers
Grimes

The key is McCall really becoming a real deal power 4 QB in this air raid offense.

The Wolfpack looked a little shaky and I will chalk that up to some jitters and a ton of new faces. But they are a dark horse team for me to get into the CFP and win the ACC.
And TE Justin Joly too... a lot of offensive playmakers. As you say, the key is McCall.

These are the NC State players on various preseason award watch lists:
  • Maxwell Award - QB Grayson McCall
  • Walter Camp -QB Grayson McCall
  • Comeback Player Award - QB Grayson McCall
  • Davey O'Brien National Quarterback Award - QB Grayson McCall
  • Doak Award - RB Jordan Waters
  • Biletnikoff Award - WR KC Concepcion
  • John Mackey Award - TE Justin Joly
  • Outland Trophy - C Zeke Correll
  • Rimington Trophy - C Zeke Correll
  • Jim Thorpe Award - CB Aydan White
  • Wuerffel Trophy - DL Brandon Cleveland
Hopefully they will win something, at least some All ACC selections.

Best 1st Half of football I've seen Miami play in a long time
Gators must not be that good, right?

Long way to go, keep the pedal to the metal, thought Mario was gonna lay off the gas end of the 1st Half, glad Miami was able to extend their lead to 14 again

Miami Defense outside of the long TD pass play has been pretty darn good
Ward has already shown why they grabbed him in the transfer portal, he has a lot of suitors so it's more like Ward chose Miami

UF - no defensive penetration. UM backs ge 6-7 yds without even trying. No pressure on qb. Mertz looks off. Busted coverages. Stupid penalties keeping drives alive.

Joly is an absolute beast.

Have a feeling a lot of teams will be "back" thos year vs UF...

"Texas a&m is back!"
""Miss st is back!"
"UCF might really be the champs!"
"Tennessee and Kentucky have finally made it over the hump!"
"Ole miss is for real!"
"Can't leave FSU out this year!"

UCF are perennial champs no matter what anyone says to the contrary

Absolute beat down.

How many more losses before Florida cans their coach?
He needs to start the rookie QB to energize the team and fans. I'm not sure if this was a good test for UM, maybe UF isn't that good. UM has deep talent at all skill positions.

So hmm, I know it was just Colorado State but man, my Horns looked pretty solid on both sides of the ball. Lost their top RB for the season a couple of weeks ago but reload and fire away baby. SEC has some tough outs but Texas looks GOOD.

UF was a good test for Cam as far as being on the road in a very hostile environment.

The poise he showed was ice cold. Loved it.

But yeah Florida is a .500 team this season.

That no look pass from Ewers was filthy.

Missed that. I was watching on my phone at a brewery. I was a little down on Ewers last year but I think he's poised for a big season. He has a TON of good options to catch his passe.
