2024 Philadelphia Eagles - First one was for the fans. This one was for the team. Next one is for the legacy. (2 Viewers)

Any hurts updates?
Try to go back in after doctors didn’t clear him. Concussion and given his serious they take them these days expections should be to expect he misses Dal next week at minimum at this point looking around the league with similar cases.
Most players are coming back the next week from what I've seen unless it is a lingering one. So we'll see how he is by Wed.

Pickett's ribs are hurt. Not sure he'll be ready next

Does anyone know the equation for what day we would play on wild card weekend? Bummed we’ve blown the #1 seed but if I can swing it want to get to a game. Was hoping we’d have that weekend off. 🙄

I don’t think 1 seed is out of play yet. Also pretty sure they won’t announce the WC playoff schedule until they know the matchups. It sucks for planning purposes.

Looks like a 5% chance now. So WC schedule varies or do they already knew when 2/3 seed would play?

Yeah we arent getting the 1 seed. Lets just get everyone healthy. Treat the next 2 games like pre season

They don’t know yet. They went to put the matchups that are going to draw the best ratings in the prime time slots (which I believe is usually Saturday night and Sunday late afternoon). The Eagles tend to draw good ratings so there is a good chance they would pick up a prime time slot (unless they play a team that nobody cares about like the Falcons or something).

That bye is looking to be pretty huge right now. It looks like the WC teams will be GB, Washington and Minny (or Detroit). Those are all tough outs for a round 1 matchup IMO.

On the other hand the AFC WC teams are likely Pittsburgh, Chargers and Denver.

The AFC is top heavy. The NFC is just flat out brutal.

Yeah no laughers in the playoffs this year, unlike years past. While we technically haven’t locked up the division or the 2 seed I feel pretty sure that we will. There’s a very good chance that we could still host 2-3 playoff games.

Why did cj get ejected? For saying bad words? That really screwed up our pass def
I was at a family Christmas party and my cousin and I were trying to figure this out. Neither 1 of us remember even the 1st PF. Did the refs make up 2 PFs on the spot. The refs were blantantly bad today and I’m one who doesn’t complain about refs much anymore. Pickett outside the pick played well but it was coaching malparacticd keeping Calatara in to block. He was astrocious today. Despite the bad calls you need Recievers to catch passes and when you have 3 guys combine for your completions in a game that’s never good

Both happened during TV timeouts with no concrete evidence of him doing anything other than having words.

**** it, do it the harder way then.

Hope Detroits plays y'all in the NFCCG.

Keep fighting, and hoping Jalen clears the protocol soon.

playoffs are going to be...different this year. Other then whoever wins the NFC South and NFC West, the rest are all teams I wouldn't be terribly upset cheering for in the Super Bowl if Philly can't do it. I even have a soft spot for the Commanders right now.

So much to unpack.

Losing Hurts had such a domino effect. Pickett stunk, not sure what some people are seeing with him that he was okay, he flat out stunk with a few decent throws mixed in. And I had no idea how weak his arm is! I said in the game thread, anyone who says Hurts' success is due to the team around him should be forced to watch every Pickett pass yesterday on a loop, Clockwork Orange style.

So Wash sells out completely to stop the run and Moore never adapts, so no sustained drives and barely any points, despite the many turnovers. Add injuries and CJGJ getting ejected for saying bad words I guess (Side note, he gave fans the double bird as he walked off the field. Find the video, funny stuff), and the defense is gassed and they can't stop anything.

On top of Moore's bad play calling, special teams were terrible. Every kickoff died at the 10 for some stupid reason. They blamed the cold, so either that's Mann's limit in that weather and apparently Elliott can't kickoff anymore (is he secretly hurt? how does his leg get weak in one year?) or they couldn't/refused to adapt?

Officiating is a joke league wide, so tough to point to that. Between that and how every commenting crew stinks, it's frustrating as a fan to watch any game and the main reason I very rarely watch non-Eagles games anymore. Why can't they do local crews like every other sport?

DeVonta's drop is so low on the list of reasons they lost. It never should have gotten to that point.

One last note, if Pickett and Hurts can't go, it's Tanner McKee.

Brock Purdy got a concussion last year and played the next week.

Detroit and Minnesota will be playing in week 18 for the right to lose in the NFCCG to the Eagles in front of their home fans.

Pickett didn't stink, he was running a gameplan designed for Jalen Hurts. When you do an RPO with Pickett, there is no threat of the run so you can sell out on Barkley. Pickett did enough for the Eagles to win the game.

Some things I noticed:

1. Jake Elliot doesn't have the leg anymore. His range is about 50 yards now. That's not good enough. An NFL kicker needs to be able to hit consistently from 55.
2. The Eagles are so thin at safety, that when McCollum has to play, there are way too many breakdowns in the secondary. CJGJ got thrown out at 11:24 in the 3rd, WAS went TD, TD, INT, TD after that.
3. Special teams kickoffs were terrible all day yesterday, that needs to get fixed.

Bottom line for me, just one of those days. With Hurts playing the whole game, Eagles probably win by 2 scores. If CJGJ doesn't get disqualified, the Eagles probably win by a TD. This team is still the best team in the NFC, IMO.

None of this makes any sense whatsoever.

Picket drove all the way down and puts a layup info Smith’s hands and “it never should have come to that point”?! The mental gymnastics we put ourselves through to vilify or protect athletes and coaches here needs to be studied.

The refs and ST’s were absolutely pathetic. As were the injuries. We love to tell people how great Smith is right?! HE HAS TO CATCH THAT BALL. No other BS take is needed.

Drove all the way down? It was 4 plays for 5 yards after the Blankenship pick. Yes, he should have caught it. When I say it shouldn't have come to that I mean the game never should have been that close due to everything else I mentioned.

Here's the yards for each drive in the second half. 8, 14, 13, 34, 5. That's pathetic. No mental gymnastics, Pickett wasn't good, play calling wasn't good. The entire team was bad after Hurts went down for all the reasons I listed above.

Whenever someone says one person on one play lost a game, I find it ridiculous. So much goes into a game. This was a team loss.

He drove them down for points on back to back drives. On the final drive he put a layup in Smith’s hands that would have won the game. The whole “game should have never been that close” is the coping I’m talking about.

For a back up Pickett played well. He was 8-of-12, 61 yards, TD, 0 INT, 106.6 rating on 3rd/4th down against them and put a game winner in the lap of what many believe is a good/great WR.

And you can’t have it both ways. Saying Pickett sucked and blaming the OC for not doing well and changing it up is actually crazy.

Moore scored 33 on the road and drew up a play to ice the game in spite of all the crap (injuries, officiating, poor ST play, ejection) during the game and he did poor. Absolutely ridiculous take.

It's fine, we can agree to disagree. More than one thing can be true. A plan can be bad and a QB can also be bad at executing it. The QBs numbers did not match the eye test to me one one play at the end doesn't mean the entire game plan adjustments were good. Like I said, games are more than one play.

Either way, time to move on. Take care of business next week, rest the final week, and be healthy for the playoffs.

So elliot has to be gone after this season right? His power is gone.
There has to be something else going on. He turns 30 in Jan. Kickers don't lose power overnight at his age, I didn't think. If he did fall off the cliff, then I agree, but it makes me sad.

A plan can be bad and a QB can also be bad at executing it.
You don’t know what the plan even was.

What we know is that despite the injuries, poor officiating, playing away, poor ST and the ejection they (Moore and Pickett) scored 33 and put the game winner in someone’s hands. This isn’t even a “agree to disagree” situation. The notion that Moore and Pickett were bad is just a flat out horrible take and wrong.

I get it though. I’ve lived here forever and Smith and Fangio versus Moore and Pickett is hard for many fans. It really does need to be studied.

I don't even know what you're talking about at this point, but that's fine. It is an agree to disagree, so whatever. Do you want me to say the defense was bad? Fine, sure, they stunk in the 4th quarter. Should Smith have caught that ball? I already agreed, yes of course. Better?

I honestly don't. But like I said, it's fine. Have a happy holiday.

Glass-half-full take? This is a good loss for a number of reasons.
  1. I feel good that we're going to win the next two games. Had we won yesterday, that would mean we'd be going into the playoffs on a thirteen game winning streak, which is absurd. Sometimes you need to get knocked down a peg to re-evaluate yourself and to shore up weaknesses. I think this loss potentially did that.
  2. Had we won, that would be two wins against a team that we may very well play for the third time this year, in the first week of the playoffs. I'm not sure I necessarily buy the concept that its hard to beat a team three times in a season-in fact I think the statistics point to the opposite. But generally speaking I just feel like a 3-game sweep of a divisional opponent seems unlikely. We don't have to have that narrative lingering out there now.
  3. This loss basically eliminates the possibility of getting the 1 seed. Knowing that we will not be getting the bye, at the end of week 16 rather than the end of week 18 opens up a lot of possibilities w/r/t game plan, starters, etc. for these final two games. I believe that we need one win to lock up the #2 seed, which means if we win next week at home against Dallas we can rest everyone the final week of the year and basically get a bye without getting the top spot. If we were still in the mix for the 1 we'd have no choice but to go into the Gints game starting everyone and (depending on what time we played versus the Lions-Minny game) play to win though all four quarters. Obviously, if Saquon is within striking distance of the record there has to at least be a conversation about starting everyone that last game.
Wasn't stoked about the loss in the moment, but after thinking about it a little I feel pretty good. That's an up and coming team with a future stud at QB and it took our QB getting knocked out and our starting safety getting ejected for the game to be close. Had Jalen played the whole game and CJGJ not get bounced I think we'd be talking about a +14 point win this morning. I still feel like we're the team to beat in the NFC.

So much to unpack.

Losing Hurts had such a domino effect. Pickett stunk, not sure what some people are seeing with him that he was okay, he flat out stunk with a few decent throws mixed in.

Pickett didn't stink, he was running a gameplan designed for Jalen Hurts. When you do an RPO with Pickett, there is no threat of the run so you can sell out on Barkley. Pickett did enough for the Eagles to win the game.

I just can’t blame Elliot for short kicks yesterday. Cold weather like that ball ain’t traveling far.

Yesterday was the first 50 yard FG (more like 49.5 yards) that he's made all season. It's not just yesterday.

Whatever he says there’s guys who say 10xs worse. If we are gonna flag everyone for words then just start flagging everyone for amount of N words that get used per game and such too. I don’t mind trying to police the games but that takes important

Yesterday they flagged Jameson Williams for Unsportsmanlike Conduct for spinning the ball after a catch.

That penalty was for not being creative enough in his celebration.

My goodness how fast things change in The NFL
The best realty show ever on network television
And streaming
And wherever else you find NFL games on now

A plan can be bad and a QB can also be bad at executing it.
You don’t know what the plan even was.

What we know is that despite the injuries, poor officiating, playing away, poor ST and the ejection they (Moore and Pickett) scored 33 and put the game winner in someone’s hands. This isn’t even a “agree to disagree” situation. The notion that Moore and Pickett were bad is just a flat out horrible take and wrong.

I get it though. I’ve lived here forever and Smith and Fangio versus Moore and Pickett is hard for many fans. It really does need to be studied.
Certain players and coaches get a pass. Right now Torts with the flyers seems to get a pass. Chase Utley even on his bad yrs got a pass while Howard and JRoll got ridiculed. Foles despite winning a SB in his whole time here 2nd run outside that SB put up well below Back up QB numbers but people wanted to keep him despite Wentz having better numbers. Then you got hurts who I think more people are realizing maybe he isn’t as good as they thought but for some he’s never to blame. It’s the OCs or Nicks fault. 76ers it’s Ben’s fault or Browns fault but how about blaming the Org for babying the players? It can be Joel’s and Ben’s fault but also the Organization too. Simmons just made it easier how he handled the whole thing for the 76ers to wash their hands of any blame at that particular time

We’re a very weird fanbase at times when it comes to placing blame on players coaches or lack there of. I blame the talk shows and media though for a lot of it.

I just can’t blame Elliot for short kicks yesterday. Cold weather like that ball ain’t traveling far.

Yesterday was the first 50 yard FG (more like 49.5 yards) that he's made all season. It's not just yesterday.
I understand that. I’m just saying I can’t blame the kicking fans yesterday when weather was a huge factor. Even Merrill said weather was effecting passing at the start.

You really hate Hurts don't you?

Were you hoping Wentz would get extra playing time after Mahomes got dinged two games ago?

I thought Wentz would get playing time this past weekend but, that never happened. Oh well.

I'm hoping that Jalen plays against Dallas. If not and Kenny plays then hopefully, he does well, or the coaching staff puts in Tanner McKee who's a more decisive QB with a stronger arm.

There are rumors that Jalen might not clear the concussion protocol prior to start of the Dallas game.

Eagles fans don't deserve Jalen being out for an extended period of time. But if it happens DJackson10 and other detractors will realize Jalen's worth. Jalen is that good.

DJackson10 the hardest play to defend in the NFL is the Tush Push do you even think Kenny and Tanner could be as effective? Both guys aren't former power lifters.
