Maybe. According to this, he's already pulling in $2.5 million (third highest paid OC in the NFL). If I were him I would try to win the Super Bowl this year, assume that another year of this offense is going to only do great things (upping your desirability to other teams), and see what job openings are available at the end of next season. Almost guaranteed to have better options next year.

I wish they should change the way coordinators are poached altogether. Put them on contracts. No coordinator should be poachable after a single year. Three year minimum before they're free game. If they wanna go interview for a head coach job, they have to quit and pay a fine first

Meh. I disagree. This is these guys livelihood and they have to strike when the irons hot. What they should do away with though is being allowed to interview while your team is still in contention. I know formally a team has to give permission to interview but no owner is going to say no because they want to be able to do the same in the future if necessary.

They should just treat it like free agency. No one can make moves until the official start of coaching free agency which would be the week after the Super Bowl. Just eliminate the interviewing/searching process from the playoffs. It frankly ****ed us in '22 because we couldn't do anything until the Super Bowl was over and by then, not only did we lose both coordinators but the gene pool of available talent had already been picked clean (we'd have had Fangio last year if Gannon had been up front about his plans to leave.) Anyone think this ****ing team would have melted down the way it did last year if Fangio was running the defense instead of Desai and pencil-boy!?!?

I think our roster was aging and the addition of weak coaches amplified our weaknesses to their fullest extent. In a way it was a blessing. If Fangio was here, we probably find a way to win 12-13 games and a playoff game masking our problems. Changes the whole focus of the off-season from major overhauls on defense to finding a few pieces and going all in one more time Phillies style.

Second probably is too steep and a fourth is not enough. A third isn't quite enough, either, especially for a wunderkind or old vet. I am very much in favor of making them wait until the end of the Super Bowl, as that seems to inordinately hurt teams that are looking. Then again, that encourages soft contact an rule breaking, so what to do, really?

Cam Jurgens worries me a bit going up against Chris Jones, especially if his back isn't 100%. It's going to be hard to run between the tackles. But James Cook killed the Chiefs on the edges, I think Barkley will too. Also Hurts on the RPO keepers will get good yardage. I could see both going over 100 yards in the game.

Eagles have around $18M in cap space and can restructure contracts to create another $60M if they need it (so potentially ~$77M). I'd bet they'll re-sign Baun and Sweat. BG retires. They let Becton, Williams and Gainwell walk. Maybe they bring back Rodgers, depends on what they do with Slay.

I think PFF and your GM feel the same way about premium positions and positions that aren't. Note the off-ball linebacker comment as if PFF had been asked to change a really stinky diaper. It's definitely something they'd (PFF) like to keep at arm's length. I gather Howie is the same way given his actions (his signings and pay structure), but trying to get that out of him would be like trying to get water out of a rock.

I'm not really worried about Spags really scheming a great game plan in all honesty, he just seems to either have players or not have players. I expect us to be able to exploit this.

Spags is a great DC. He was, apparently a lousy HC, but he is a great DC. This Chiefs Defense has really good players, but I’d argue they are playing above their talent level.

They play disciplined football and fantastic situational football. I think the Eagles can run on the Chiefs, and if they try to sell out to stop the run- they’ll get killed: by Saquon and Jalen both.

I guess we can agree to disagree. You think he is great, I think he is good, I just feel if he doesn't have the talent, he just can't get the job done, and if the talent is bad, he sets all time records for futility. Stats back this latter part up at least. He is certainly propped up a little bit by the fact that he has Mahomes operating the offense on the other side.

Spags is a great DC. He was, apparently a lousy HC, but he is a great DC. This Chiefs Defense has really good players, but I’d argue they are playing above their talent level.

They play disciplined football and fantastic situational football. I think the Eagles can run on the Chiefs, and if they try to sell out to stop the run- they’ll get killed: by Saquon and Jalen both.

I don’t think Spags is getting too much credit. But I think Vic will be the DC everyone talks about after this game. He is no JG. and there’s no corn-dog routes that are gonna leave Kadarius Toney or JuJu wide open.

I guess we can agree to disagree. You think he is great, I think he is good, I just feel if he doesn't have the talent, he just can't get the job done, and if the talent is bad, he sets all time records for futility. Stats back this latter part up at least. He is certainly propped up a little bit by the fact that he has Mahomes operating the offense on the other side.

Mahomes and the Offense carried the team for a few years, but the last couple of years, the D has carried them. Especially in the regular season.

Sure can. The great great coaches are the ones that take elite players to elite levels, I'm just not sure Spags is one of those guys is all. The Chiefs defenses the last few years have been very good though, you can't deny that at the same time.

Ya know I'm getting a lot of "wow Spags is such a great coach" and I have to push back on that. He is a good coach, when given the talent, but this guy also was the DC that set the record for most yards in a season ever in 2012 w the Saints, and then in 2016 reset that same record with the Giants lol.

Going back 10 years I see the 3 worst defenses Fangio has coached to be 21st, 15th and 14th (and those last 2 were his first 2 years with the Bears, his last 2 they finished 10th and 3rd).

I'm not really worried about Spags really scheming a great game plan in all honesty, he just seems to either have players or not have players. I expect us to be able to exploit this.

Was listening to Jason Kelce on the radio today and he said that one of things that Spags is really, really good at is disguising blitzes. Said that while he is very good at bringing pressure from spots where you might not be expecting it, IF you can diagnose it correctly, it leaves the defense open to quick hitters that can turn into homeruns because so much personnel is devoted to the initial disguise. Thinking Saquon, Davonta or AJ on some short stop routes or even bubble screens.

This makes my day. Not a guarantee to play, but if he can go, the emotional boost he gives is worth it alone.

Let’s not lose sight of the fact that they put up 35 against his defense two years ago without Barkley
