So I was at a party last night with Eagles fans and they were declaring the Eagles roster on paper this year is the best in the history of the NFL. These are pretty knowledgeable football fans. I chuckled a little at first but now think that they’re not that far off. I don’t really see a weakness at all.
In history, not a chance. So many teams pre-Salary Cap era were insanely loaded. In recent history (say, last 15 years) its not crazy, but still unlikely.
I'd say the 2013 Seahawks are the best on paper team in recent history, they lost 3 games all year, by a combined 15 points. The 2024 Eagles (with 3 losses that all happened when one of Hurts/AJ was out) have some similarities to them, with the elite defense, elite RB, and a QB who is underrated, and often wins with his legs. Philly has a better OL than those Seahawks did, though I'd argue Russ>>Hurts. Eagles pass catchers are better, but Baldwin/Tate was certainly nothing to sneeze at. Seahawks D was better, especially in the secondary (I could argue the Legion of Boom is in the conversation for the best secondary ever) and they shut down the mighty Peyton Manning during the season he broke every single season counting record and ran away with MVP. I think its very possible the Eagles can do something along the same lines (not to a 43-8 level) to the mighty Mahomes.
KC’s #1 defensive strategy will be to control the clock with long drives. Play keepaway. Of course Saquon can break them at any time. I think he needs to for you to win. He might. Seems possessed
I feel like the strategy of playing keep away from the Eagles would be a very poor one, Philly's D is far too tough to be consistently on the field not getting stops. KCs best chance in my opinion, is to hit some big plays early and get Philly chasing. I think this game greatly favors the Eagles if its a grind it out kind of game.
