2024 Philadelphia Eagles - First one was for the fans. This one was for the team. Next one is for the legacy. (7 Viewers)

Ya know I'm getting a lot of "wow Spags is such a great coach" and I have to push back on that. He is a good coach, when given the talent, but this guy also was the DC that set the record for most yards in a season ever in 2012 w the Saints, and then in 2016 reset that same record with the Giants lol.

Going back 10 years I see the 3 worst defenses Fangio has coached to be 21st, 15th and 14th (and those last 2 were his first 2 years with the Bears, his last 2 they finished 10th and 3rd).

I'm not really worried about Spags really scheming a great game plan in all honesty, he just seems to either have players or not have players. I expect us to be able to exploit this.
Spags is a great DC. He was, apparently a lousy HC, but he is a great DC. This Chiefs Defense has really good players, but I’d argue they are playing above their talent level.

They play disciplined football and fantastic situational football. I think the Eagles can run on the Chiefs, and if they try to sell out to stop the run- they’ll get killed: by Saquon and Jalen both.

I don’t think Spags is getting too much credit. But I think Vic will be the DC everyone talks about after this game. He is no JG. and there’s no corn-dog routes that are gonna leave Kadarius Toney or JuJu wide open.
I think you mean Worthy. Toney is a free agent

I was talking about ‘22

Listening to Kelce on the radio yesterday he said something that I could not believe. He was talking about the ‘22 Super Bowl and mentioned in passing that the team didn’t switch cleats at halftime. WHAT!??!?

Literally every person watching that game IN THE MOMENT could tell that the field was ****ed up. That line getting no pressure and no sacks was probably the biggest reason for us losing. I’ve never heard that the team didn’t address the issue with deeper cleats. My mind is blown. Like, what the **** are you doing!?

Imagine how hard it would be for Wentz to watch another SB victory?

EDT: I was in Nashville this week and met a lady from North Dakota at a bar, and she actually turned out to be one of his dad's friends lol She said they're all cheering for the chiefs there :P

Haha sounds about right.

So another year when Hurts struggles of changing OCs?

  • Eagles offensive coordinator Kellen Moore is the favorite to land the Saints head coaching job, to the point where people with the Eagles are bracing to lose him. Moore is putting together ideas for staffing and other New Orleans candidates have essentially been put on ice. But I'm told Moore wants to get through the Super Bowl game-planning before making any determinations.

Great watch. Nick Foles reacting and describing highlights from SB 52.

I'm already tired of the talking heads on TV, when is the game? Same stuff over and over.
Haven't watched a second of it. Been listening to music all week. Knew this week would be all nonsense.
I had a plan but fell behind. Wanted to listen to Eagles podcast after week 4, or after the Browns game. Always fun to hear who were some of the worst bashers and what they have to say now. The job is such a joke you can say whatever you want and never need to say “I was wrong”.

It’ll come down to coaching and
QB play. We’ll see
Not considering Saquan a factor? Hasn’t panned out well for a lot of teams, but I guess we will see
He’s a beast. No doubt. KC has to make a decision. I think it will be to make Hurts beat you. Spags is great. Stack the front. KC’s #1 defensive strategy will be to control the clock with long drives. Play keepaway. Of course Saquon can break them at any time. I think he needs to for you to win. He might. Seems possessed

So I was at a party last night with Eagles fans and they were declaring the Eagles roster on paper this year is the best in the history of the NFL. These are pretty knowledgeable football fans. I chuckled a little at first but now think that they’re not that far off. I don’t really see a weakness at all.

In history, not a chance. So many teams pre-Salary Cap era were insanely loaded. In recent history (say, last 15 years) its not crazy, but still unlikely.

I'd say the 2013 Seahawks are the best on paper team in recent history, they lost 3 games all year, by a combined 15 points. The 2024 Eagles (with 3 losses that all happened when one of Hurts/AJ was out) have some similarities to them, with the elite defense, elite RB, and a QB who is underrated, and often wins with his legs. Philly has a better OL than those Seahawks did, though I'd argue Russ>>Hurts. Eagles pass catchers are better, but Baldwin/Tate was certainly nothing to sneeze at. Seahawks D was better, especially in the secondary (I could argue the Legion of Boom is in the conversation for the best secondary ever) and they shut down the mighty Peyton Manning during the season he broke every single season counting record and ran away with MVP. I think its very possible the Eagles can do something along the same lines (not to a 43-8 level) to the mighty Mahomes.

KC’s #1 defensive strategy will be to control the clock with long drives. Play keepaway. Of course Saquon can break them at any time. I think he needs to for you to win. He might. Seems possessed
I feel like the strategy of playing keep away from the Eagles would be a very poor one, Philly's D is far too tough to be consistently on the field not getting stops. KCs best chance in my opinion, is to hit some big plays early and get Philly chasing. I think this game greatly favors the Eagles if its a grind it out kind of game.

I’m sure there’s been a few but I literally can’t remember a game this season where the Eagles were ever chasing points. It’s just not how they play. I’ll be shocked if that happens in a week.

Best in NFL history? No, probably not. Best in Eagles history? Possibly. 2004 team was really good and might be the only team in consideration here (excluding the pre-SB teams since I wasn't alive to see them).

Post BYE, no. Only game they were down early was TB.

HOw about a compromise then? If you poach one after he's been there one year, you give a 2nd, 2 years a 4th.

Second probably is too steep and a fourth is not enough. A third isn't quite enough, either, especially for a wunderkind or old vet. I am very much in favor of making them wait until the end of the Super Bowl, as that seems to inordinately hurt teams that are looking. Then again, that encourages soft contact an rule breaking, so what to do, really?

It's a copycat league.

And I just realized I'm in the Eagles thread. I thought all along this was the Super Bowl thread because of the "SB59" in the title, but Ministry has LIX and this is the Noid, so I'm guessing I'm spending my early morning and yesterday in the Eagles thread. Great. ChiefD even dropped by, though, adding to the confusion. Dang it. Peace and be merry!
Its a safe space here friend. Drink it all in.
Safe Space = Philly
Wow! I never really put those two together

Yeah, that's a stretch. A huge, disemboweled and ludicrous one. You're talking about a team that hides their quarterback's arm and whose quarterback hates throwing in the middle of the field.

There are some huge limitations. KC is favored by one. There's a reason for that.

I mean, you're telling me that they're better than the 2007 Patriots? My word! Not a chance in hell.

Overall 2004 was a better roster in terms of star talent at the time. Talent/potential wise with age this roster is better. Outside of WR the 04 roster was loaded especially with the depth it had.

Nick Foles says prior to Super Bowl 52 against the #Patriots, the #Eagles would practice/have walkthroughs with 13 players on field to throw off any potential illegal spying being done. They also had paper shredders on hand to dispose of any gameplans/corrections that were made.

Damn.

Chiefs might be in trouble. Gonna be a tough one for sure. I’m just hoping for a good game at this point.

Myles Garrett requested a trade out of Cle. GM Andrew berry already said he won’t entertain offers.

I really hope the Eagles don’t trade for this guy. He literally defended Watson after he got hurt. You defend sexual predators you might as well be one yourself.

We're putting together a football team, not a church choir. That being said, with the way Howie has drafted, we should keep our draft picks because he's hit on every one of the top ones recently.

If we’re talking Crosby now I’d do everything to put that guy on my team. It’s more or less Garret is a cancer and distraction to a team and after his comments on Watson the Cleveland media laid it on him and rightfully so

:lmao:

I’ve definitely noticed a higher confidence level from Eagles fans for this SB compared to the others, though.

I think being to 3 SBs in 8 years has many fans feeling like we truly belong among the big boys and aren’t imposters.

Me, I feel about the same cautious confidence as 2022. We can definitely win this, but I’m prepared for the usual pain and disappointment that somehow usually finds its way to us.

I think if the 2022 Super Bowl was played on good field conditions, the Eagles win that game. I think this 2024 team is way better than the 2022 team.

I’m prepared for **** to hit the fan somehow. Someone gets hurt, someone drops a crucial pass, Elliot misses one in the moment, we come out flat, some type of off the field bs, etc. nothing surprises me as a fan of this franchise anymore.

Agreed, and I'm not convinced that this year's KC team is as good as that '22 team.

Also, for all the Spags talk, lets not forget that this Eagles team, with pretty much the same players on offense, put up 35 points on this KC defense two years ago. The biggest differences between those two teams were Kelce instead of Cam (seems negligible, as amazing as that is), Seumalo instead of Becton (upgrade to this year's team IMO), Quez instead of Jahan Dotson (meh although Quez had a brutal drop in the Super Bowl) and Miles instead of Saquon, lol. I'll let people make their own determination as to what kind of impact that change has on the team.

I don’t think the field was as huge as all the other issues. Hurts had a fumble early in 2nd QTR that went back for a TD that changed momentum, we weren’t as aggressive in offensive play calling as we are, we traded FGs with KC so they could get TDs and our special teams coach kicked it to a player who our then OC had when he was OC at college and told him don’t do that. Those were all bigger factors. AJ Brown even said in an interview when they took the FG in the 3rd QTR instead of being aggressive and going for it the confidence in the team went way down and they were prepared to lose.

Was the field a factor? Sure both teams played on it though. Those other things were bigger factors though imho

Please stop with this. You've been harping on that for two years and it simply isn't true. After the fumble, they immediately scored another TD and had a 10 point lead at the half. They lost because the defense gave up literally every yard possible in the second half. Full stop.

I would say our biggest weakness is Hurts decision making. Also, Kellen Moore seems to call some overly developing plays at times which doesn help.

AR on the other hand doesn't seem to make any play calling mistakes.
