2024 Philadelphia Eagles - First one was for the fans. This one was for the team. Next one is for the legacy. (10 Viewers)

Ok, I got a flight arriving like 6 AM. I should be able to get to the Rocky Statue in time! I'm so pumped. I literally know not a single person in Philly, but my guy from out here is from there, so we are going to meet on that day at some point and I guess find somewhere to crash. I haven't done s*** like this since I was fresh outta the Marines looking for new adventures. I cannot wait.
YOLO

The Eagles have been bracing for Kellen Moore to the Saints for the past two weeks.

(The big difference between this and J. Gannon leaving two years ago is they were prepared for this pre-Super Bowl.)

The top internal candidate to replace Moore is Kevin Patullo, but Eagles have a list of candidates for this situation. They knew of the strong possibility that Moore would be a one-year OC even when hiring him last winter.”
I think Moore was very upfront with Howie even before he was hired. They knew he was going for a head coaching job ASAP. Him being very forward about it and professional was the difference with him and Gannon. Gannon snuck around taking interviews and I don't think the Eagles fully knew where he stood.
The Eagles hired Moore incase **** also hit the fan with Sirianni and he could be Interm HC if they had to make a movie mid season plus from people I talked he was a prime candidate to be HC if Nick was fired too. So either way this was always a 1 year deal as the OC at least
That was the prevailing talk radio point. I don't think in house that was ever real.
It was true it wasn’t just a talking point. Kellen Moore is probably our HC right now Ig they did fire Nick last offseason. McManus was on Sheil Kapedia pod last week said because unlike Doug Nick was willing to give up some of his duties and adapt where Doug didn’t and that’s what saved Nick from being fired.
I believe the off season story of Nick conceding. But once they stayed with him, I don't think Lurie held a sword of Damocles over his head during the year.
If the situation got worse after the bye he’s probably fired right now. Another thing that saved Nick listening to a few pods and people who cover the team is how much the players love him

About to float the idea of flying out for the parade to the wife, wish me luck.
OMG SHE SAID YES I'M LOOKING FOR TICKETS RIGHT NOW

Is your wife going or just you? Most of the center city hotels are booked. I would try to see what you can get by the airport. I’m sure your buddy might know where to go though.

Defenses win championships is as guaranteed as death and taxes

The Eagles' PFF Grades from Super Bowl LIX
🏈Josh Sweat having 3 sacks, 7 pressures, and 2 defensive stops and somehow being the 19th highest-graded player on the defense should put to bed any argument about the validity of PFF numeric grades (although I still like their charting)
🏈Jalyx Hunt notched 5 pressures and a sack on 20 pass rush attempts. That's not bad for a guy who was playing safety a couple of seasons ago at Houston Christian University and was seen as a project pick this year.
🏈The Eagles held the Chiefs to only 82 yards after the catch
🏈Darius Slay and Quinyon Mitchell combined to allow 27 passing yards
🏈Zack Baun led the team in defensive stops with 3. Jalyx Hunt, Milton Williams, Josh Sweat, and CJGJ each had 2.
:lmao: in our last Super Bowl win there was 1151 yards of offense.

You really will do every single thing possible not to admit you were wrong about Hurts.

Can you at least admit he played a great game? Or nah.
Why? Why do you folks still entertain this guy. He is not a true fan. EVERYONE should have him on ignore.
Who the heck are you to gatekeep who is a fan or not. You sound like that one poster from an old Phillies board who use to moan and groan how if you weren’t a 4 for 4 fan you weren’t a true philly fan?

Get a grip over yourself. I swear a lot of people in this board are so immature I wouldn’t even want to meet in real life amd most are over half my age.

NFL franchises with multiple Super Bowl MVP QBs (all have 2 each):

Eagles
Giants
Commanders
Cowboys
Packers
49ers
Chiefs

Entire NFC East and KC the only AFC team.
Terry Bradshaw? He won twice
Terry Bradshaw is only one person.

The stat is multiple QBs, not multiple MVPs.

Eagles (Foles, Hurts)
Giants (Simms, Manning)
Commanders (Williams, Rypien)
Cowboys (Staubach, Aikman)
Packers (Starr, Rodgers)
49ers (Montana, Young)
Chiefs (Dawson, Mahomes)

I'd come hang with you, but I can't make the parade. Have fun.

If you need a place to stay, check AirBnB, they're usually pretty cheap.

I'm sure most are over half your age???

And you have purposely completely ignored everything Jalen did well this year, and in the SB.

You said we would NEVER WIN a SB with Hurts at QB.... and here we are, and you STILL can't swallow your pride. Hurts could have gone 50/50 for 500 and 10 TDs and everyone here knows you would have simply mentioned how bad the KC d was.

well, since I was very vocal about Hurts as well, he was better in the second half of this entire season than I gave him credit for and he was at his best for the Wash game and the SB when it counted. He did everything I wanted from him. I don't think I was wrong about him :football:, but he has gotten better practically every week this year. Plus I now believe we have not seen his peak talent yet. I still believe he needs to work on reading the field better and recognizing coverage changes quicker, but absolutely happy to be on the wrong side of this argument about his overall prospect. I hope we get him a good OC to continue the asend.

Thanks all FBG's in the thread for an amazing season.

Eagles have a Bud Light Philly Special statue of Doug and Foles.

What ad/statue will we get for this Super Bowl?

Something of Hurts by Nike?

DrJean’s pick 6 by Cooper Sharp cheese?

Josh Sweat by Speed Stick?

It should be Saquon's backward leap.
How about Jalen Carter smashing Mahomes facemask into his mouth? Could be an ad for Invisalign.

Big Dom etches his name in history, becoming the first to win a Super Bowl while holding three roles—Senior Advisor to the GM, Chief Security Officer, and Gameday Ops—since 1955! 🏆💪🏈

And that's why I don't think Lurie was ever going to do something in season. Once he decided Nick was back, he was back the whole year at least.

Yep. If you engage with him, you are indulging his pathology. That is not good for anyone.

🍺🍺🍺🍺

The NFC East is the hub of the NFL universe. Everything runs through the NFC East.
(paraphrasing a drunk fan near me at a Skins/Giants game)

Congrats again from a Washington fan. You guys just keep winning and, for the first time in forever, we just might keep winning too.
At some point the Commanders may add a 3rd QB to that list.

I got a kick out of this police scanner thread the night of your Super Bowl win.
It's far more amusing than seriously threatening.

i keep hearing “we can start clearing the crowd out” as if that’s an attainable goal
“broad and locus (do not yell at my spelling please) is lost” like this is the zombie apocalypse
i’ve been avoiding the medic calls but broad and walnut just got a second “man down in his alcohol”
disregard second man, he has apparently gotten up out of his alcohol and continued partying
“we got a large group inside of the bed of a dump truck”
“just be advised, the man is still on the pole….he’s refusing to come down”

This Eagles team gave Philly fans everything we wanted but never got from 1980-2010:

Dominant run game/RB

Mobile QB interested in getting better

Intimidating Defense that showed up in playoffs

Star WRs

Immediate impact draft picks

HC willing to admit his flaws

DC that adjusted in-game

Just think how many Super Bowls the Eagles would have won if the Executives would have listened to us. Run the ball, play good defense.

Is the city gone? I was told no matter the result it would be gone by now. Haven't heard any updates.

By the way, you can all thank me for this Super Bowl.

In 2018, I planned a trip to Vegas (to see the Flyers player the LV Knights). The Eagles won the Super Bowl. I actually flew out to Vegas the day of the parade.

It's been 7 years since I've been to Vegas. Fast forward to 2025, a few months ago, I planned a return trip to Vegas (leave next month). The Eagles won the Super Bowl.

I told my wife, I may have to make Vegas trips a yearly thing.

Underrated player from the game: Jalen Carter. Didn't get any sacks, but was disruptive, and was double teamed almost every time I watched him. He's a salty little son of a Suh, also. Lol
Haha yeah man he is SO MEAN on the field, I F****** love it. He is the tone setter, the entire defense flows from what he does or what is done to him by the offensive scheme. Sure, he is a serial killer off the field and all, but he's OUR serial killer.

As for the game, yeah exactly what the Chiefs did to him, allowed literally every single other pass rusher on defense to be disruptive all night long.

Remember that post in here about some guy at a party the week before the Super Bowl asking if this team was the best NFL roster ever?

Kinda feel bad I laughed at someone even thinking that, after what happened in the game.

That was me by the way. I chuckled when they first said that to me but it sure doesn’t seem that far off anymore.

Did you see what Chris Long said after he walked into the locker room once we dismantled Washington? He was kind of shocked at the confidence, then said, I guess it was warranted.

I think the biggest thing about this was not only having the #1 defense, but its pretty clear in hindsight, the ceiling on this defense is untapped and unanswered. Its crazy/scary to think this team can GET BETTER on defense. Imagine this same level of coverage but with a team sack range in the 50-60 area....

I thought I would feel happier if they won but I’m more just interested if they can do it again and how the off-season is going to shake out. Is it because the drought ended last time or is it because of hurts demeanor

Watching hurts ride around disney land was cracking me up like he dgaf about this Mickey Mouse ********. I’m really sad he didn’t drop some of his sayings on the morning talk show circuit

The argument can be made IMO. I’ve been watching football for 40 years and can’t recall a more complete team. The argument can be made that every single level on offense and defense is great as well as the coaching. Hell, even our health was great.

We can't really compare rosters from the salary cap/free agency era to those before it. It's impossible to build something like the '70s Steelers with their 12(?) Hall of Famers today. But in the salary cap/free agency era, there's an argument.

Oh I am THRILLED man. Last time was like ya know, losing your virginity. It was looking good, but then last minute, you didn't know if you could do it. Was sloppy,. but in the end it was just nice to finally get it done and onto a better time. Haha.

Truly though, this team was built on vets on both sides - P Rob, Chris Long, Jernigan, Wiz, Blount, Jeffrey, Ajayi, Torrey Smith, Jason Peters, - had Kelce, Lane, Fletch BGin their primes and we had a young TE and what we thought was a franchise QB. But looking back, there was no way this team was going to be a "dynasty" just from the lack of players alone - not to mention the draft of 2017 wasn't like...great/good at all, didn't have enough things that we hit on.

2018 was an insane one that set us up for the future - but all these guys needed years: Goedert Sweat, Maddox, Mailata

then 2019 was kind of a bust draft (yay Miles Sanders) - by the time the guys from 2018 had a chance to turn into who they were, the effects of the bad drafts, the crumbling/regression of Wentz, the lack of impact youth hits on RB/WR....it was the end, we weren't making the playoffs and had to reset.

I'm not going to go over every draft pick, but the miss on Justin Jefferson + the Jalen Hurts selection - those TWO draft picks, were the ones that resulted in a seismic shift to what Howie does, how creative he is, and the balls he has and the length of leash he has earned from the owner - It feels different now.

We have a team FULL of homegrown talent that is GREAT talent. Look at the entire roster. We just demolished the Chiefs, people are saying at worst a top 5 defensive all time performance in a Super Bowl. And its the #1 defense that is also the youngest defense.

This offensive line isn't going anywhere soon. This defensive line isn't going anywhere soon. This secondary IMO is only going to improve.

Jalen Hurts continues to improve, the WRs are locked up long term.

This feels different than last time, in so many ways. Players want to play with Hurts. Word is out, this team is THE culture of the NFL you want to be a part of.

This offseason is going to be crazy, I can be assured of that. We will nail draft picks, we will sign guys to extensions, we will make a gigantic splash or 2 via trades or free agent signings.

Its just a great feeling now. No one can say anything about Jalen Hurts again without calling him Super Bowl MVP as well.

Forget where I saw, but even Fangio said they haven't scratched the surface yet because they're still learning his defense.

I feel the same. It's weird. Last time was just this ecstatic joy mixed with relief. This time almost feels routine. I have felt normal all week and have been looking towards the draft and Free agency already on what we need to do to win it again.

To be fair, the fact that he has NEVER had the same OC for consecutive years in the college or pros has certainly capped his upside. This is particularly notable given that he isn't really a standard pocket passer

I've been midly annoyed at some of the ongoing commentarry. A lot of talking heads, and MANY fans acting like it was some huge upset and talking about what KC did wrong. KC had a golden horseshoe up their backside all year and was lucky to have made it to the Bowl. Philly was two routine drops from 16-1. I felt going in (and stated many times) the Eagles should be favored, and not by 1 or 2.
This team needs to run it back just to prove they were legit all along. Sad really. But that Washington team is not gonna let it happen easily

same. My gf asked me why I wasn't more happy, and I told her that losing hurts more than winning feels good. The wins feel 9/10 good, but the losses feel 10/10 bad.

It's more relieving than pure lingering joy.

Commies have a lot of work to do. They have 28 pending free agents and a whole defense to build. They got the QB which is the biggest piece but still a lot to go.

Progression isn't always linear. CJ Stroud had a great rookie season and didn't play as well in year 2.

KC reminded me a lot of us from last year. Stacking wins but doing so unconvincingly (the toenail out of bounds vs the Ravens, the late penalty vs the Bengals, the blocked FG vs Denver, the Raiders late botched snap, etc).

They kept that ponzi going much longer than the eagles did, and you had the pedigree of Mahomes/Reid behind it, but it eventually also came crashing down.

But still made it to the 2nd round.

Just bought my Q Mitchell SB jersey and some other stuff for me and the wife. My impulse control is low when it comes to SB swag. I'm sure we'll waste more money once merch hits the local stores.
I promised to buy a Hurts jersey if he won us a Super Bowl. I’ll be getting that and a Dejean white, as well as a Barkley one for my uncle who is a huge eagles fan with me, but a lone PSU fan without me
Exciting white? (By the way, the nickname still makes me a little uncomfortable) :oldunsure:
I was always taught Offense is Green jersey, Defense is White jersey.
