2024 Philadelphia Eagles - First one was for the fans. This one was for the team. Next one is for the legacy. (15 Viewers)

Landon Dickerson also set the record straight with Jalen Hurts, A.J. Brown, and the offense:

“We’re on the same page. I don’t know what y’all like to construe up and write, but we’re all on the same page here.

"I know being Plain Jane doesn’t really sell stories."

this has seemed like mostly BS imo
Right. The question ESP asked him was, “what offensively can improve?” He’s not gonna say the run game, lol.

He knew what he was doing, it was a shot at Hurts that he could walk back.
There’s no way you can listen to the clip (don’t read it) and come to that conclusion or you’re exactly the guy Dickerson is talking about.

Are we the only fan base who deal with these soap opera dramas and keeps falling for them? Lol

I listened to the clip, AJB is a seasoned veteran who has dealt with the media for years. He said what he said, because he was taking shot a Hurts but left it vague enough so that he could do what he did a couple days later and walk it back. The only thing he didn't count on was BG saying what he said, which was to validate the position that AJB was taking a shot at Hurts and their relationship was changed. This required the Eagles leadership to step in. So everything said after what BG said on Monday was just polished by the PR team. It was actually brilliant by BG, because he didn't let AJ get away with the comment without forcing him to have to deal with his frustrations face-to-face.

But, now here we are with the stepford fans trying to gaslight people, even though they know, who/what AJ was talking about when he said "passing." Unless you really think, we're supposed to believe that he meant the OL needs to block better or the WRs need to get open more or the coaches need to call better plays. If you do, I got some great oceanfront property to sell you in Kansas. LOL!
The best part about it all is Jalen is a sociopath. He actually was smiling a lot at that presser, so I think we really are about to see some fireworks come Sunday man one way or another.

AJ can take subtle shots or direct shots and Jalen is still going to look like the mIchael myers mask and have zero emotion. He's just a different dude its really funny how nothing really seems to rattle him ever.

Oh yeah, I think Pittsburgh is in trouble on Sunday.

Its one of his best traits.

Uhhh no. The Steelers had Antonio Brown not too long ago. That drama trumps this by about a zillion lol.

that will be hard to top indeed :lmao:

I just posted it in the Steelers thread. With Pickens out, if the Eagles stick to their identity and go run heavy, the Steelers have no shot. If they try to force it to Brown, they have a shot. What are the Steelers good at? Getting pressure on the QB from literally every direction. What are they not good at? Tackling and stopping running backs that are powerful and get to the outside. So I ask why in the heck would the Eagles try to move away from what they do best?

I don't think they are going to really change what they do. They have actually tried to throw it to open most games, it is either awful with 3 and outs to start or hardly any yardage, and *then* the team switches to a run heavy approach. Just check Saquon's 1st/2nd half splits.

I just think this time they have a few definitely dialed up for AJ to focus him early.

Will see what happens, but I agree, the only way basically the Eagles lose the game is the turnover battle.

How could that happen - Either Jalen running around and fumbling and losing a couple times and/or forcing the ball through the air and INTs happen.

I do think he is having a little difficulty with learning/mastering this version of the offense with Kellen Moore and reading his quotes I feel he basically is saying he is intent on making mistake free football his thing, and while it might be ugly at times, he's not going to force it (regardless of who is chirping) just to get stats, if it puts the team at risk of losing.

I think it's going to be very interesting to seeing how this game starts and eventually plays out. Saquon literally just has to average what he has all year the rest of the year, and this is their biggest test with the 30th, 27th and 29th ranked rushing defenses left on the schedule after this matchup. I think a lot of the team really would like to get this record so there definitely is a yinging and yanging going on here with who wants what to happen with regards to statistics.

This is why I said in the AJ Brown thread that people should temper their expectations. I don’t believe that they will fundamentally change their approach. I think you can expect a 6/100/1 stat line from him, but anyone thinking he’s getting like 10/150/2 is going to be disappointed.

Yep. The OLine feels that this is just as much their record (and Stoutlands) as it is Saquon’s. They will be pushing for a rush heavy attack for the rest of the year because a. They want to get the record and b. They know with this defense it’s a winning formula no matter where you are playing or who you’re against.

Honestly, I don't think PIT is going to score enough points to beat the Eagles.

I thought this before the Pickens news. With him out, I really don’t see how they put up more than 15-18 points. That won’t be enough to win.

Yeah, in the PIT thread they're so concerned with how to stop the Eagles O, but they should be more concerned with how they're going to score against this Eagles D.

The Commonwealth bowl ;)

Steeler's haven't won since 1965. Russell is 5-0 against the Eagles. Something is ending here.

AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith are top notch receivers. Without Pickens Steelers pretty much have no one at Wide Receiver. Eagles corner backs should easily shut em down.

Steelers haven't faced an offensive line like the Eagles. Will be interesting seeing the matchups.

If the Steelers win will be due to turnovers and RW passing the ball around to everyone. I just don't see it though.

Rico Dowdle ran through the Steelers. Saquon Barkley if I'm recalling correctly is averaging 4 yards a carry before contact. That's hard to fathom but shows how good of a player he is as well as there OL. Giants last year sucky line and he averaged 2 yards before contact.

Steelers fan here as well as Saquon. Should be interesting.

To be fair we are concerned with both. But I am more concerned about the Eagles D than their offense. But I also think some fans (probably several of you guys) tend to underrate the Steelers O. They are not a horrible offense with Wilson at QB. They’re middle of the pack and they move the ball well between the 20s. They’ve struggled in the red zone. The offensive line is super young but they’ve been improving a lot throughout the course of the season. By as early as next year, I predict they’ll be elite.

However, without Pickens they are probably lower tier.

sick of the drama this week. Ton of time spent on national pregame shows too. If you had to pick one area the Eagles could get better on (after placekicking), it would be the passing game. (But even then the efficiency metrics are very very good.) That's not really all that controversial a statement. Much ado about not much.

OH......ETA: Eagles blow out Pittsburgh today. Hurts throws for 250, 130 of them to AJ. But Saquon still gets his....130 total, about 100 of it on the ground. 31-13

It to his non throwing hand

Thank you for correcting. When I googled Hurts, it said left-handed QB, but the linked reference was apparently to him batting left-handed.

Sorry for any confusion.

Both teams have lost to the Bucs.

The Eagles 2 losses are NFC teams so the Lions hold the tie breaker do to better conference record. I think thats how it works.

I think it's conference over common games since we don't have enough common games.

Congrats guys - I kind of expected this was going to happen. Both teams had some injuries today so hoping nothing too serious for either team.

I can see why PIT gets so many turnovers. They came out hitting everything . . . hard.

I was surprised Tomlin punted at the Eagles 46, I would have gone for it. Felt like he was giving up there.

The Steelers clinched the playoffs today. If they’re fully healthy going into the playoffs they can take down anyone in the AFC. The Eagles are on another tier and the Steelers were not winning this game even at full strength.

Tomlin does this crap all the time. He concedes the game even when it’s not over. He’s a good coach but it’s inexplicable why he would not go for it there. But I’m used to it with him.

Yeah, in the Ravens thread we were discussing teams who were 10-1 or greater to win the SB. I said I preferred PIT or GB because their defense. It's why I don't think Detroit or Buffalo will make it to the Super Bowl, you have to be able to play defense because when you need to score in the mid-30s to win, you probably aren't doing that 3 times against the best teams in the NFL. Eventually, you need to stop the other team from scoring.

That 1st and 30 thing was so dumb. I hope we meet in the superbowl!

Don't feel good about winning that tie breaker. We need to win out, and Detroit would probably have to lose week 18 to the Vikings.
I’m not really sure. Bears played them tough a couple weeks back and are home. SF is also home the week after as well. I wouldn’t be shocked if they lost one of those games.

This game-salting drive from the Eagles might be their best ever.

Got the ball on their own 3 with 10:29 left. Converted two third downs, picked up 12 on 3rd and 13 to convert 4th and 1, then converted another 3rd down.

They will kneel this game out on a 21+ play, 88 yard, 10:29 drive

The Eagles’ 21-play, 88-yard drive that lasted 10:29 to run out the clock was:

* Philly’s longest possessions by plays since at least 2001

* Philly’s longest drive by time since a 11:49 drive against Washington in 2018
