2025 Cleveland Browns - JOK Out for the Season (2 Viewers)

Stefanski in the locker room after win... Around the 35 s mark, Stefanski asks the team if they want to come in tomorrow. I thought it was funny that they clearly do not want to, but they are all hesitant say so. Stefanski proceeds to give them Monday and Tuesday off. I don't get this. I mean, I understand wanting to celebrate a win, keep team morale up with a nice reward, but this team needs work. I understand the players wanting a day off after a tough physical game, but do they need 2 days here? They just had a bye week with some time off...keep 'em focused. Give 'em Monday off, fine, but how about at least some film study or light work on Tuesday?

Time spent doesn't automatically equal better play.
Excited play usually does.
It's ok to reward your guys after an impossible effort win.

Shocking win. Got lucky that Moody missed a 41 yarder. Better to be lucky than good sometimes. I will take it.

Niners:
Came in with a streak of 15 consecutive regular season wins.
Their team obviously was undefeated 5-0 coming into the game.
Their starting QB was perfect 10-0 as a starter and was being seriously mentioned for league MVP due to his stellar play. He hadn't thrown an interception this year.
Browns:
Injuries to ALL-PROs, RT out for the year, starting RB out for the year, RG out for the game. Starting QB, out indefinitely.
Universal power rankings had the Niners the undisputed top-team in the league riding a high after a blowout win against Dallas.
Vegas had us -9.5 dogs AT HOME.
Luck? Yeah, we're lucky to be decimated with injuries and down to our third starting QB.
Yesterday there was a record-breaking metrological event that took place on Lake Erie. I honestly 'feel' it had an effect.
Lake Erie now holds world-record for most waterspouts in 24-hour period

Just wanted to come here and say congrats on a hell of a game against my 49ers.

Yall really did drag us down into the mud and made us play your style of football and forced us off our game, big time.

Mad respect.

Watson not practicing today.

if he doesn't practice tomorrow i would guess he's not going to play.

either that or he won't practice all week, start the game, and then the first play will be a long bomb.

wtf did we just watch???

and what is going on with Watson?
He has no shoulder left. This will plague him all season, IMO. For better or worse, PJ Walker is now the man.
so it is his shoulder?

he took one hit and didn’t even land on it.
I really think it was on the throw. He was running to the left and tried to throw back towards the middle of the field. That is a lot of strain.

ah, that’s possible.

Stefanski says it was his decision not to put Watson back in. He was "protecting" him. I wonder if he saw some of those early throws and decided to use that hit as the opportunity to pull the plug on Watson's return.

Forget the musical chair dance.
Sit Deshuan.
Get PJ as 'ready' as possible, he sucks but he can throw further than ten yards.
Embarrass the fraudulent defense that got lit-up for 38 points and gave up over 450 yards.
They are full of themselves and got exposed.
Quit reading your own headlines.
The only reason we won the game is because Myles Garrett directly led to 17 points and D-Hop has scored 24 points on FGs the last two games. Basically, two guys playing out of their minds have led to points.
We are going to get killed in Seattle unless the defense wins it and they won't if they are full of themselves.

Or you could trade for Brissett? He was successful in Stefanski's scheme.

PJ didn't do bad, and I agree to give him the reigns and make Watson sit. He may need to sit the rest of the season. Whatever the case may be, make sure there is a decent QB in place so as to not waste that defense. Nothing spectacular. A game manager type who can make the basic throws needed to keep the chains moving. PJ is trying hard and throwing harder. He needs to settle down, which will come with time. Unfortunately there isn't a lot of time, so Brissett may be the season fix here at the trade deadline.

i've read a few articles on this idea and it's not as far fetched as some might think.

the problem is they keep thinking Watson is just going to suddenly be fine, but it's really not looking that way.

sometimes these injuries can be unpredictable and just continue to linger.

i was never a big Brissett fan, but if he can just be functional the defense can keep them in games.

tldr: if Watson is going to be out another 4-6 weeks, see if they can make a deal for Brissett.

I think this is an injury that is going to linger for awhile. From a pitching standpoint, you don't mess with the rotator cuff. Coming back too soon will only damage it more. I think that's what we saw yesterday. He thought he was okay, then tried to throw cross body down the field and found out he wasn't okay. His throws were off all game anyway - all low at their feet or knees, nothing in stride.

The craziest one I read so far is trading a 2nd & 3rd to MIN for Cousins. I think his contract is almost up and the money is manageable. It would put a proven guy whose familiar with Stefanski and his offense in a position to hit the ground running. I'd think it would be a one year rental and they'd still consider Watson long-term, but this team's window is now - so need to do something.

Cousins would indeed be interesting, but i imagine there's a close to zero chance of this happening.

apparently, you only get three "call-ups"

so if they want to continue to start Walker, they will need to add him to the roster.

obvious choice here would be to put Watson on the short term IR.

he didn't look anywhere close to being able to play in the Colts game.

Have we added PJ Walker to the jersey yet? Cause it's your turn PJ!!! C'mon down to the end of your career!!

lol, they gotta sign someone.

DTR backing up Walker? woof.
Yea that's peak Browns right now. Best defense in 50 years, winning in spite of ourselves and we're heading into week 7 with an ex-XFL'er and a rookie that had a less than auspicious welcome to the NFL, so much so that they haven't dressed him since.

Sounds about right

can they afford FitzMagic?

i feel like they could win a few games with that dude.
I'm pretty sure free to us Nick Foles could win a few more than PJ Walker and/or DTR too but nobody in Berea is picking up this week

Just another wasted season as a Browns fan thanks to incompetence.

we should at least wait until they have a losing record to hit the panic button.

People have a hard-on for blaming Stefanski for everything when he's been a miracle worker with the offense.
First game, lose ALL-PRO RT for the rest of the season. Plug in rookie RT who has gotten up to speed.
Second game, lose ALL-PRO RB and clear-cut most effective offensive weapon for the rest of the season. Plug in, 4th round pick and re-sign the guy we cut. Run game production remains effective.
Then, he's had to deal with an injury to his starting QB but the GM dealt the vet backup so he had a rookie 6th round pick and an arena league guy as his ONLY options. Guess what happened to the passing game? It isn't effective so what is the topic of Browns fans?
Stefanski sucks. Give me a break.
The defense has given up 61 points to Gardner Minshew and Geno Smith over the past two weeks.
The offense has scored 58 points over the same time period.
The defense had only given up 71 points in the first 5 games so the 61 points in the last two games is a SIGNIFICANT drop-off in performance but what is the chatter?
STEFANSKI???
WT actual F?
The offense was built around Watson, his arm and legs and we're the only NFL team that has had to start three different QBs only 7 games into the season but the issue according to moronic sports talks show Cretans is that Stefanski is the issue.
Big picture is simple.
We're fine once Watson is back healthy.
The defense can't suck as badly as it has because IT IS A PROBLEM that no-one seems to be talking about because sports talk morons are convinced it is all Stefanski. No, he has done amazing considering the circumstances.
The above quote was taken from the Seattle game thread, but figured the discussion would better fit in here.

Much of it is frustration as Cleveland fans have been conditioned to expect the sky to fall every year. This was the year it is supposed to all come together. And then we see things begin to crumble. It is amazing we are at 4-3 with the offensive issues we have had. Although there are many contributing factors to this team's struggles, the head coach always takes the brunt of criticism when things don't go well. Choosing to throw with 2 min left on 3rd and 3 against Seattle is a coach's decision. I don't think it was the right decision, but it was the one made. If it had worked, I still don't think it was the right call. Clearly, he deemed the benefit outweighed the risks when he made the call, and he should take responsibility for the call. Certainly it is not the only reason we lost the game. While Stefanski may not deserve blame for all of Cleveland's woes, he does share in it, and as head coach, he will draw attention.

What are we, 11-12 years into the Haslam regime? This organization has been inept, and frustrations are getting the better of people.

it's odd too. in years past, we'd be thrilled with 4-3.

fans would be making every excuse under the sun for this team. look at all the injuries.

this team lost on the road in Seattle, by 4 points. that's incredible.

expectations have certainly risen, that's for sure.

and honestly, that's great. but yeah, maybe we all need to take a deep breath and look at the reality of the situation.

oh, and it doesn't help that Berry put Stefanski behind the 8 ball with no backup QB on the roster.

Absolutely. As I said, this organization has been inept. One poor decision after another for way too long.
the weird part is, Berry traditionally has spent on the backup QB position.

2020 Case Keenum 6 million
2021 Case Keenum 6 million
2022 Jacoby Brissett 4.5 million
2023 Dorian Thompson-Robinson 1 million
2023 PJ Walker 1 million

i get Watson is eating up a chunk of the cap, but one of these is not like the others.

And Dobbs is only making 1.5 M
