2025 Cleveland Browns - WTF - “Quirky” Draft Completed (41 Viewers)

Remember when we traded away the rights to Julio in 2011 how did that work out for us ?
Remember when we drafted a bunch of top 5 guys not named Garrett? How'd that work out for us
Exactly we are going to screw up all these picks when you had a stud in hand. We couldn't screw up Garrett but we screw up all other picks.

Same situation Hunter and Carter and then the rest

Jacksonville isn't going to suck again they won't be a top 10 pick.

I think we trade pick 5 also.

We need the QB. Without it, doesn't matter if we have six Julios

I woke up with a heavy heart today. Saw Hunter go 2, smiled, then saw the Jags logo next to it, and my heart sank.

Yes, we got a haul. A real haul. And yes, we still got a defensive stud... But my heart saw Travis in a Brown jersey.

The only thing that can console me is landing Shadeur with our first pick (wow!) and then grabbing either Higgins, Noel or Burden... Now THAT would be an A+ draft for this guy

Rizzo said it best. "I had the shiny new toy..." (Then you find out the toy wasn't yours.) It's an emotional letdown. Truth be told, we don't know if either of those guys is gonna be all-pro. We DO KNOW that there's a lot more opportunity for highlight-level plays on the outside. Day 2 looks appealing, no?

We moved down from the 2nd pick and passed in the 1st round. A team moved up to take Dart and passed on him. The Steelers who only have Mason Rudolph passed on him. I heard we weren't interested in the 1st or 2nd.
When we traded out of the 2nd pick, we got a first next year. Jimmy Haslam has a close/personal relationship with the Mannings. Arch 'might' be a target next year and it makes sense to land an extra 1st next year to land him.
Basically, I wouldn't hold my breath on us taking a QB high in this draft since it 'appears' we have our eyes on next year's QB class.
Here are the top players left.
NFL draft Day 2: Top 20 prospects left for Browns Round 2 picks

Best Available Players for the Browns in Day 2 of the 2025 NFL draft

SB Nation’s rankings decided the order below
  1. DE Donovan Ezeiruaku, Boston College
  2. WR Luther Burden III, Missouri
  3. QB Shedeur Sanders, Colorado
  4. RB Kaleb Johnson, Iowa
  5. LB Carson Schwesinger, UCLA
  6. WR Jaylin Noel, Iowa State
  7. OT Aireontae Ersery, Minnesota
  8. S Nick Emmanwori, South Carolina
  9. RB TreyVeon Henderson, Ohio State
  10. TE Gunnar Helm, Texas
  11. S Billy Bowman Jr., Oklahoma
  12. QB Jalen Milroe, Alabama
  13. DE Asthon Gillotte, Louisville
  14. WR Jalen Royals, Utah State
  15. RB Quinshon Judkins, Ohio State
  16. DE JT Tuimoloau, Ohio State
  17. TE Harold Fannin Jr., BGSU
  18. TE Elijah Arroyo, Miami
  19. TE Mason Taylor, LSU
  20. RB Devin Neal, Kansas
The guy I wanted at the top of the 2nd was taken one spot before. I know we had Aireontae Ersery in for a visit. We have a need for an OT and he's available so that clocks.
Here's another list of best available to cross check names.
NFL Draft 2025: Best available players for Day 2 with round one finished
Michigan CB Will Johnson was considered one of the top players in the class, but injury concerns have seen the defender slide out of the first round...
  • Some solid wide receivers are still available, after just three came off the board in the first round. Luther Burden III from Missouri leads the way — Burden was considered a Top Five pick before the season began in “way too early mock drafts” — but he is not the only option. The Iowa State duo of Jaylin Noel and Jayden Higgins are still available, as is Stanford’s Elic Ayomanor, Mississippi’s Tre Harris, and TCU’s Jack Bech. All six come off the board in the second round alone.
  • There are also some intriguing pass rushers available. Mike Green from Marshall and Donovan Ezeiruaku both received first-round buzz, but are still on the board as the first night comes to a close. Texas A&M’s Nic Scourton and Landon Jackson from Arkansas are both available as well, and all four could come off the board early on Friday night.

So... Do we take the guys that have slipped, or fortify a weakness, or trade down again? What would you need to move off of 33? There's bound to be someone excited enough to trade up!

Do you want a "project" QB or a guy to play this year?
We took one of the top blue-chip prospects with the 5th pick of the draft.
We got an extra first round pick in 2026 for what I 'assume' to be a QB target. I don't see us going QB.
Get an OT or WR or TE or if a CB Will Johnson will have to sit a year but is a blue-chip corner then take him and let him red shirt for a season.
Build the foundation for a rookie 2026 QB can hit the ground running.
We will get offers for 33, so...

Actions spoke loud and clear last night. Isn't anything a fan wants to read / hear, this isn't a QB draft class and now we have the ammo to get one next year. Zero reason to take one now. I think whether we pick at 33 or not depends on if someone else covets Shedeur enough to get in front of Vegas- I'm looking at the Saints (40 + 2026 pick swap netting us their #2).

We are on the clock so F everyone else, lol.
I'm not calling anything, and it is not a need, but... I like the BC pass rusher.
2025 NFL Draft: Shedeur Sanders, Mason Taylor among best players still available after Round 1
Rank 30
Donovan Ezeiruaku
Boston College · Edge · Senior
Ezeiruaku is a compact edge rusher with outstanding length, burst and production. In the pass game, he has a very quick first step and gets on top of blockers in a hurry. He excels at prying open the outside shoulder and cornering toward the quarterback. He has a full array of moves to complement his speed rush. He has won with a club/swim, inside counter, spin move and Euro step. He’s an outstanding finisher (16.5 sacks in 2024). Against the run, he needs to be more consistent using his length to stack blocks. He takes them on with his shoulder too often. He shows solid effort on the back side to chase plays. Overall, Ezeiruaku has an ideal body type to rush the passer, and he has all the tricks in his bag to win against good players.

i would keep beefing up the lines.

OT, DE, whatever the top linemen are left.
We may have missed the boat on OT, Conerly and Simmons going 29 and 32 were a kick in the teeth. Green, Ezeiruaku, and Alexander fit but passing on O will be a tough pill to swallow. I also wonder if pick Will Johnson and trade Greg Newsome is on the table.

What QBs are likely to go in the second round? What teams would spend a second at this point? Why not wait?
Shedeur, Milroe, and Shough. Draft picks aren't static, assuming these guys go round 2 I expect them to be traded for.
Yeah, but who needs 'em? Who would be willing to make those trades, adding capital to move up? Pit, NO? It looks like there's more QBs than needs.

I'm happy with the trade, that was my preference. Graham is a good addition to the line and fills a need. I'd like to see Henderson with 33 and then maybe Green or Taylor with 36. I'm not sold on Johnson, and I don't see the urgent need for a WR in the 2nd rnd.

I think the mistake many people make while navigating the draft is they're driven by needs, especially once beyond day 1. Needs are a consideration, but they're not a decision making driver. Jalen Hurts is a recent example.

maybe they’re not looking at OT, then.

they had plenty of picks to trade back up.

AB's demonstrated in the past his default is restraint. This is how we ended up with Anthony Schwartz while he was waiting out for Nico Colins and got sniped. It took an exceptionally deep fall for him to finally move up for JOK. If there is another case of him moving up in the ~top 75 I sure don't recall. It wouldn't surprise me if he was gambling on one of those two falling and he missed.

I know hindsight is 20-20, but man, I woulda loved to move back from 5 to early 20s for another 1st, then also get the same trade the Rams did.
Yeah yeah flame away for wanting to trade out of this first round entirely, but I think 36, 44, and three extra 2026 1st rounders would have put a big ol smile on my face

Based on what happened between our pick and the Rams trade I'm comfortable assuming no one was interested in moving up that far. I am a little surprised we didn't deal with the Bears though.

yeah I suppose that makes sense too.

Everyone trying to shoehorn Shedeur to CLE here.

I feel like if he was their guy at 33, they would have made a small to move to get him late 1st. The Browns weren't worried about someone jumping in front of them for Shedeur, so I wonder if they are all excited to take him.

I think you are right, this is collecting picks time, I would not be surprised if they are hoping someone wants him, and they can get a good haul. If they could get another 1 next year? Or a 2 and a 3 next year? Home run.

Anyone trading down in the 2nd here is probably gonna win the trade, IMO.

Judkins over Henderson interesting I thought Henderson would go before Junkins

Junkins is the better player according to some. I’ve seen it argued he could be the 1.02 in Dynasty. Great landing spot & always nice adding the homegrown talent.
this will make the fans less cranky about taking a Wolverine at #2.

I feel ya

Lions fans a little salty about adding another Buckeye lol

it was nice having Decker be the lone wolf in the den

honestly after Braylon Edwards had a few good years in Cleveland, Browns fans don’t care as much about the Michigan thing.

but they do love their Buckeyes players.
