Big bummer. He was on track for a game ball if he kept it up.Solid win, sloppy at times but a win's a win. The only downside was DJ Reed's injury. He won't be back anytime soon.

I’m just praying it’s not a torn ACL and we can get him back at some point this year. He’s been playing fantastic.Solid win, sloppy at times but a win's a win. The only downside was DJ Reed's injury. He won't be back anytime soon.

They lost 3 more defensive starters yesterday and Lamar Jackson.Hey guys, that whole "Baltimore is a good team" thing?
That might need a quick re-visit if everybody is okay with it.
Baltimore is a trainwreck, but it was still a good win on the road if you ask me.Hey guys, that whole "Baltimore is a good team" thing?

I can be critical and still believe a Monday night win on the road against Balitmore is a good win.Baltimore is a trainwreck, but it was still a good win on the road if you ask me.Hey guys, that whole "Baltimore is a good team" thing?

Excellent road win because of the environs and the organization, but heck, Payne, it was your criticism I was responding to last week.
That’s kind of a lol moment as I pause for my morning constitutional.

I agree for now, but I wonder if we look back on it the way we look at the Dallas game last year. A lot less impressive than it seemed in the momentBaltimore is a trainwreck, but it was still a good win on the road if you ask me.Hey guys, that whole "Baltimore is a good team" thing?

It's interesting. I've been going back and forth on this point since preseason. I was listening to The Athletic Football Show's season preview, and for each team they would answer the question, "What does success look like?" My initial thought was that anything short of a Super Bowl win will be disappointing, because we can never be sure how long windows stay open, and Detroit's core is going to start getting very expensive in the next year or so. But the podcast hosts' answer for Detroit was that success is moving into the KC/Buffalo/Ravens tier where you can just pencil them in as contenders every single year.I agree for now, but I wonder if we look back on it the way we look at the Dallas game last year. Being to the point where a dominating win in Baltimore is not impressive, is itself impressive. When you have a great team, you are expected to win every game. The only thing that will be 'impressive' is to win the Super Bowl at this point. I am not sure Detroit needs to prove anything to anyone at this point. They are a damn good team who is in everyone's top tier.

Great win, though I am starting to question just how good Baltimore is.
This post shows a lot about your character.
It's been three games.
Let's not forget they did lose to GB just two weeks ago. And maybe Baltimore isn't who we all thought they were. They sure don't appear to be.
It's a long season. I wouldn't go patting yourself on the back quite yet. The Lions played a near flawless game. Maybe their best under this regime.
I think any Monday Night Football win on the road is a good win. Sure you can. I didn't say it wasn't a good win. I didn't say you wouldn't say it was a good win. It just seemed odd that you would respond to me out of the blue with saying Baltimore was a good win when a) I never even alluded to whether it was or wasn't and b) I'm not the one who brought up that Baltimore might not be very good in this very thread a few days earlier. It seems odd to reply to me about something I didn't even address when you had just said days earlier:

It's just a weird way to respond to somebody when you've said and then reiterated the same exact sentiment.

The first quote you referenced above is how I felt about the win. I felt it was a great win. They needed it. It was on the road against Lamar.
Defense played well. Interior of the O Line looked much improved.
However, that was two poor outings in three weeks by Baltimore. They gave up a ton to Buffalo and now Detroit. So I questioned how good Baltimore really is.
The second quote you referred to was in reply to a post by Bobby Lane. You can go back and see what he said.
I am not a big fan of viewing what the Lions have as a narrow window. They have locked up key players like Goff, Penei, and St. through 2028 and 2029. Holmes is not trying to go all in any single year. He is building a foundation of a team that is more of a dynasty.

I am not a big fan of building a dynasty before you have even won your first Super Bowl. Do that first and then worry about the dynasty.
What are you talking about? To be a dynasty in the NFL you need to win three super bowls in about a decade. The Lions have zero. Win one and then work on the dynasty.I am not a big fan of viewing what the Lions have as a narrow window. They have locked up key players like Goff, Penei, and St. through 2028 and 2029. I am a huge fan of everything Holmes/Campbell/Sheila have done and see some have a hard time ridding themselves if the SOL mentality.
That's your opinion. If you ask me, and many others, that window is smaller than you think.I am not a big fan of viewing what the Lions have as a narrow window. Brad did a fantastic job of building this team. NOBODY is going to argue that.
I question whether he has done everything in his power to win a Super Bowl. That answer is no.
The chances of winning 1 go up significantly if youre in the playoffs every year ....What are you talking about? To be a dynasty in the NFL you need to win three super bowls in about a decade. There goal is to be competitive every year to win a Super Bowl and then to win more than one. The idea that Brad has not done enough really blows my mind. The guy has been an absolute wizard and has outperformed every GM in the league. Just because he does not share your idea that the Lions need to go all-in in a particular year and throw away their vision of building a long-term success, doesn't mean he is nkt doing enough. Going all in in a single year is actually a much riskier way to win a Super Bowl.

You are negative on everything. They are building the foundation of a dynasty. I did not say they were a dynasty. Last year was their first year they were targetting but got sidetracked by an historically insane amount of injuries, which of course you somehow poo-poo as normal. But the foundation of what they are building is setup to be sustainable for another 3 to 4 years, during which they will be building the next pieces. I am not sure what is so hard to understand about this. The Lions have put together an elite organization with longterm goals and it does not take 10 years of hindsight before it can be acknowledged.

All I can say is it’s WAY more fun having a conversation about playoffs and superbowl than what we’ve been talking about for the last 60 years.
Good to have you on board. One favor though. I know he's managing a knee issue, but can you get Brock Bowers a TD for my fantasy team? The Raiders season is falling apart yet again. I’ve always rooted for the Lions as my “2nd team” but it’s time for me to follow them more closely to really enjoy the ride this year. I do have Goff on one of my superflex dynasty rosters, so there’s that.
Thanks for having me over. Your place looks great.
lol. Geno plus the high-school level Oline is ruining it for everyone. I’ll put in a call though and see what I can do.Good to have you on board. One favor though. Tell him to put on the other teams jersey and I guarantee Geno finds several times.

Very fair, but when you refuse to go get anyone in free agency to help your weak spots because 2027 is coming hurts your chances just as much. I would rather be Eagles or Rams the last few years where they went for and rebuilt on the fly after going for it then just be pretty good all of the time.

There was not a free agent signing last year who would have filled multiple holes in the DL, LB, and CB positions. The Lions were 15-2 last year. That is better than pretty good. The last part of the season the Lions defense was virtually amputated. They had more than enough talent to win barring the onslaught of injuries. As far as Jamo, in 3 years WR salaries will be $10 million higher and the cap will be $60 million plus higher.
You really don't think Brad and Dan know who and when they are going to extend and have a complete road map to signing all their foundational pieces?
I have 1000x more faith in what Brad and Dan have planned for the team than the 20 clickbait wannabe GMs who hype every possible defensive free agent.
And the Rams and Eagle absolutely did not rebuild on the fly. They have been some of the best drafting teams for a long while with lots of talent build from within.
Lions were the best team in the NFL last year. I have no doubt about it. The D just got brutalized with injuries. Eagles don't win if they had the same level of injuries either.
The playoff game plays out very differently if the Lions weren't missing a dozen defensive playersLions were the best team in the NFL last year. I have no doubt about it. The D just got brutalized with injuries. Eagles don't win if they had the same level of injuries either.
I disagree teams that turns the ball over five times in a playoff game rarely wins and you guys act like there wasn't a handful of of other teams that weren't 15 -2 and 14 and 3 in the league.

You don't know that and you don't know if they beat an Eagles team that was dominant. You just want to believe that.
