It doesn't work because you aren't holding up enough fingers. That is TWO back-to-back Championships!

How is the Chiefs defense looking this year? I feel part of the reason the offense was pedestrian last year was because the defense was really good. Not much need for shootouts. For fantasy purposes, trying to figure out if the D takes a step back this year or not.

Also looking for homers insight on how different the offense is going to look this year. Mahomes passing yards per attempt took a dive last year. Was that solely because of weakness at WR or was it Nagy changing things up? I've read that they are looking to bring back the deep passing and obviously tried to address that with Worthy and Hollywood, but still concerned about Nagy. Dude was brutal in Chicago. Preseason didn't really tell me much. What is the word around town on the kind of offense they want to run? Do the have the players and system in place this year to bring back the high scoring, air it out offense of a few years ago? Thanks.

The offense was putrid because Pat had nobody to throw to outside of Kelce/Rice. If Brown or Worthy can be adequate they should be much better than last year. Toney not being a liability will help as well. The fact that Pat threw for almost 30 TDs with that group is incredible. I assume Rice becomes more comfortable in the offense as well. Health and Kelce hitting the age-wall are the only things stopping Pat from having an amazing year.

Sneed is gone. He had an unreal season. But the defense will still be strong. Offense will be better as there won’t be so many dropped passes and wr f ups. Bulls eye on their back of course. Pacing themselves a tad for the post season.

Well, after today's action with the Chiefs and everyone else in the NFL, I see K.C.'s first loss coming in two weeks when they host Denver. Then, they won't lose again until the Super Bowl when they get beat by the Lions!

I said it at the beginning of the season, and I'll say it again: The Lions are the 1 team that Kansas City should fear. And after what they did to Tennessee today, I believe that even more so now.

So, midway through the year and to me this year is reminding me of last year. Just haven't looked all that great, wide receiver room still messy, and we are seeing what feels like more injuries.

The schedule the rest of the way:

Broncos
@BillS
@Panthers
Raiders
Chargers
@Browns
Texans
@Steelers
@broncos

The crux of this schedule is three of the last 4. The Chiefs play on a Sunday at the Browns, a short week where they play Saturday against the Texans at home, and then another short week where they play on a WEDNESDAY at the Steelers. (Christmas). They then get a long break until the go to the Broncos to end the season.

They way they have played this year is rough. I see at least 2 losses there, maybe 3.

One of the Broncos game, the Bills game, and then throw in another one there somewhere.

The only way I see them losing 3 is if they have another major injury. Their defense is playing good enough to keep games close and makes it easy on the offense. The chemistry between Mahomes and Hopkins/Worthy should continue to improve. Worthy should also be able to be schemed into some down the field plays more as the season goes on which should open up the middle of the field more. It has not been a clean start but the offense should become more efficient as the season goes on.

Def lose at Bills and if 1 seed is locked def lose at Broncos too. Might lose that one regardless. See if the A game switch can be turned on in January.

Don't be silly.

The Chiefs remaining schedule is silly. That's at worst a 13 win season.

Broncos twice
Panthers
Raiders
Steelers
Browns
Chargers
Not as easy as it looks .. Division games are always tricky and then they play the Texans on Dec 21st and then travel to Pittsburgh on 3 days rest to play on Christmas. The schedule makers needs their brains checked for scheduling any NFL games like that.

Probably 4

;)

Details win championships. Chiefs didn’t get lucky; they knew Alex Forsyth (#54 Broncos) had poor technique. Absolutely collapsed the left side and pancaked the 630 pounds of linemen on the wing and the end of Denver’s FG unit.

It’s all in the details.

Schefter:

Chiefs are signing kicker Spencer Shrader off the Jets practice squad and placing kicker Harrison Butker on injured reserve due to a knee injury.

Rapoport:

K Harrison Butker is expected to have surgery to trim his meniscus in his left knee, per source. That's why he's headed to IR, though he'll be back for the home stretch and playoffs.

Have Butker. Can put him on IR in my league.
Shrader worth a short-term pickup? Koo, Myers, McLaughlin are sitting out there as well in my league.

Probably is. He will get opportunities at least.

Don't worry. The Chiefs will still get home field advantage throughout the AFC playoffs as usual and beat the Bills in the AFC Championship game as usual. The only difference between this year and the past is that they'll run into a buzzsaw known as the Detroit Lions. Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery should get at least one rushing TD apiece, and I don't think the Chiefs will have an answer for Amon-Ra St. Brown. Therefore, the team that will keep the Chiefs from threepeating will be the Detroit Lions!

not the Denver Broncos?

I'm thinking the same scenario for the Chiefs next week that I did for the Lions. If the Chiefs win on Friday, they should clinch a playoff berth. Am I right?

You might be right, but the Dolphins still have 6 losses. Not sure how tiebreakers would work with them. And assuming they win out of course.

Doesn't matter. Chiefs are leaking oil right now. An extra month of football every year for the last 6 years might finally be taking it's toll. Not to mention the early bye week this year.

They look tired.

The Chiefs can clinch a playoff berth with a win and a Dolphins or Broncos loss.

It is amazing to me how the Chiefs keep winning these very losable games at the last second. Just simply amazing.

Of course, that being said, it is clear that this team is very beatable. Right now, they way they are playing, I don't believe they will get back to the Super Bowl.

For most of this season, the Chiefs have struck me as the best team in football, one that was always finding ways to eke out wins over everyone. While they are still doing that, there seem to be more cracks in the foundation as of late. I get it, winning is winning, there are no style points in the NFL, and maybe they are just playing down to their competition, but having to scratch out crazy close games against bottom feeders like the Panthers and Raiders has to be a bit concerning for Chiefs fans.

Tackles are the biggest issue, plus the secondary is leaky and the WR room is still lacking.

They look beatable overall and need to prioritize a fix for the tackles before the playoffs start.

Not that anyone feels sorry for them, but I wonder if they are possibly a little tired this year after 16 playoff games in 5 years. That’s an extra season compared to some teams. Or they’re just not as good/deep to sustain the injuries as recent years and will unceremoniously lose to Baltimore or Buffalo in January.

I guess I have never really understood what this means.....I hear it a lot even in other sports....like NBA teams making the playoffs, etc. and then maybe even the Olympics after that or whatever....and guys having less of an offseason or whatever.....I guess my thing is....how much time off in Cabo do you need to be rested...?..I mean in a lot of cases we are talking about some of the best athletes in the world....they are paid to stay in shape....I get your body needs "rest" but really how much does it need....after a couple weeks of doing nothing you should be good right?...(injuries not included)...I do think there is some merit to the benefits of where your bye week falls during the season....but as far as an offseason goes, I just don't really like the "tired" thing....

Again I’m just suggesting a possibility. Football careers are short and brutal, so an extra season of games seems pretty sizable. Obviously not everyone on the team has had that, but it may be a cumulative impact on some of them.

I don’t think the chiefs are not great anymore because they’re tired, but it might be a factor including injuries that is weakening them a bit.

Well, this season is starting to look like the 'ol "not our year."

Offense playing like crap. Defense leaking oil now.

Following starters are out:

Pacheco
Tranquill
Donovan Smith
Bryan Cook

The team just isn't right this year. They look tired and un-motivated. They've also played and coached an extra month of the football the last 5 years. I think they can limp into the playoffs but I don't see much more than that.

^ Last year

:lol:

honestly I get it....KC doesn't "look right"....they aren't blowing teams out.....they are "lucky"....they should have lost a couple they won...they play down to the comp.....they play with their food....if it wasn't for the refs....blah blah blah....

this team is 11-1 playing most of the season without RB1, WR1, and WR2.....and now lately without PK1....what team would look right?....they aren't going look right.....Reid has quietly done a good job keeping their heads above water....he'll never get coach of the year even though he probably deserves it sometimes.....15 keeps him from winning it cause everybody says "well he has 15"....Hopkins and Uche were solid signings...they have clinched a playoff spot....

I think they will be fine.....except for one thing....their tackles....and that is huge problem....they may have to shuffle some things around permanently and man am I really hoping DJ Humphries rides in on a white horse next week....
