They still have a legit shot at a Wild Card spot. Chargers are next, and they're awfully beat up right now with a porous O-line. Still have Titans and Raiders left to go, should be wins there. Get past Denver in Week 17 and then you need a little help from Indy to lose, who will be starting Riley Leonard or Phillip Rivers. Running off 4 wins in a row to close the year won't be easy, but two division games and two objectively gimme games is about as good as you could ask for.
Chiefs as a 7 seed would not be welcomed by any other AFC team just due to their playoff experience. Although it would be new ground for KC, having to play a road playoff game for the first time in Mahomes career.
Yeah, it's definitely possible, but this team is just off. Reid ain't doing them any favors either.
The good thing is Mahomes HAS played a couple of road games in the playoffs. At Buffalo last year and at the Ravens the year before. But they already had a home game before that. So you are right - they definitely haven't gone on the road in the wildcard round in Mahomes career.
Guess I'm so used to them always having the 1 seed and staying in Arrowhead, completely forgot about the game in Buffalo last year...
Was listening to some XM radio show this morning and they were talking about the Chiefs being a sneaky SB bet and whatever affiliated gambling site they were promoting having them at 60-1 odds right now. I haven't looked to see if that's true, just got me thinking about what path they'd have to have to get in. Just the eye test over the last month makes you feel like they'd be a long shot, but I'm not going to be the one to bet against Mahomes and Reid in a playoff atmosphere, which basically starts right now for them as any loss could send them home.
